Dorastar - wow!! That's a lot of projects lol I think I must be the only person who finishes something before buying the next thing. Mind you, we don't have space to stash things away - think it's be a different story if we had more room lol.

Finish one thing before buying another?

What is this oddness of which you speak? :rotfl:

I got my UFOs down to about three when I had a massive clear out a few years ago. I sold all the unopened kits on eBay. Now I have two kits not yet started, two massive pieces in progress (both at the backstitch stage - gahhhh, I hate backstitching!) and some Xmas decorations that I must have had for ten years - two out of nine finished...

But....Hobbycraft's on at the NEC soon...so the UFO list *might* just geta bit bigger then ::whistles innocently::

Thrifty, have you thought about selling one or two of the not-yet-started projects you have stashed away? Am I committing sacrilege by suggesting such a thing? ;) Your UFO list is making me hyperventilate and it doesn't even belong to me! ;)

Please note Thrifty accepts no responsibilty for the state of Dorastar's list :D

I have yet to post my list (although I am sure that it would be similar, just not so many opened things:p) And yes cassolete it would be sacrilege as a girl needs choice! Sounds like my husband asking why I need so many shoes! Besides I wouldn't get the money back for what I paid so I am quite happy keeping them ready for my retirement! I blame having kids for my progress slowing down or my job (sure Dorastar can relate to this)

Will have a look and post my list later when have fed the kids, God am loving not having to rush in a morning:D

Lol at thrifty getting the blame for my list - made me feel much better. :)

Is definitely a case of work getting in the way of stitching - that and the usual housework, playing with kids, cooking, etc. etc.
Tbh if I could get rid of dh, and the kids and stop work I would have all the time I needed to stitch! Can't even do late nights as I am definitely an 8 hour girl.

Did think about selling a few bits and bobs but actually want to do most of them either for myself or as gifts and now I have a list I feel a bit more focused. Also have to stitch more regularly as have a wonky eye (just a bit slow at accommodating different distances) and the optician says the muscles have really strengthened with stitching as I have to look at stitching, then chart, then maybe tv etc so I don't need glasses anymore atm.

Am off to my olds with the kids for a few days so going to take some stitching to get done - maybe advent calendar or christmas tree - aiming for this christmas maybe.

I was thinking the same! :rotfl:

I don't have a list but I just had a quick count and I have 34 unstarted kits...oh my, I didn't realise I had so many! Trouble is once I get on ebay I keep seeing kits I really love and want :o Though I feel better knowing I don't have any UFO's, just a WIP (work in progress) :D
Mine are all stored in the footstool that goes with the sofas. Hubby says that's my limit, if they start being stashed around the house because I have too many to fit in the footstool then I have to get rid of some :rotfl:

I have completed a few UFO's in the past year since I joined the stitchy club on here - Flamingoes/winter scene/Afghan and now the Map of Europe is getting there

Also got loads of new ones done -Meerkats/Vision at the lake/stealing the moon/summer lady

I doubt I would have completed so much without the encouragement on here :j:T:T

Still some UFO's to o, but will work more in the new year before I start stitching for Xmas 2011 (lol): Touched by magic/winter angel/12 Days of christmas/passion of the dance

Plus LOADS I have planned which are unstarted: Lighthouse of dreams/ Candlelight are my faves. I need to live till I'm 150 I think :o:rotfl:

I'm very disappointed to say that somehow I've missed a column of stitches on pandora and I'm going to have to unlock loads of stitches :/ I seem to be going backwards at the moment. But on the other hand I've finished a little UFO. I can't post pics yet but I'm gonna try and put it on flickr or photobucket. What I'm doing is working on pandora at home and all my UFO's during lunch at work as they are mostly small. I'm now trying to finish a picture of a Rose by December so I can give it to my aunt in Australia. The chart came from a website called solaria.online.bg has anyone been there? They have some good designs including some free ones (although its been a while since I had a look) Anyway hi ho hi ho it's back to work I go.............(whistling)

Hey there all, long time no stitch for me.
The good news is that the interview was successful and I got the job as a casual education officer at MOSI (Museum of Science & Industry) Manchester. It's a free lance role so hours can't be guaranteed, though having that supply work has been very slow at the moment and there have been no suitable permanent Science teacher jobs available in my area so anything I get would be a bonus. I'm looking forward to starting with MOSI as I'll get to teach primary and early years too, which sounds challenging but fun.

The photo kit of parents farm house still hasn't arrived. I've given them til Monday then thanks to using paypal I'm going to open a dispute against them. I've informed the company that I expect either the kit or the refund before then.

I've started the fish pic now and like you SammyW I can post link but can't seem to get the picture itself included.

taken from a cross stitch book that I bought at the local bhf charity shop and here's what I've done:

Thrifty where do you buy the felt for your gingerbread men etc. My friends 13year old daughter is very artistic and crafty and uses felt to make badges but her stash is running out so I was hoping you could point her to a relatively cheap source of felt.

While on the topic of saving some money, hobbycraft are including a leaflet in some of the free newspapers which gives you £4 off when you spend £20 before 15th December.

In other news I eventually had the appointment with the neuro-spinal consultant so the basic news is that despite the pins in my back I can have an MRI (as the pins have been there 20 years), so will have to wait for appointment for that - considering I first mentioned my concerns about the pain last May, we're now getting somewhere.
Those of you that are relatively new won't know that I was born with a scoliosis curvature of the spine and that I had a spinal fusion op at 14 (I'm now 34) and about 2 years ago my posture had gradually started to tilt towards the left Dad had noticed this about but I thought he was being neurotic as I didn't have any issues and then last May I started to experience regular back pain (To be fair I did well very well to get 20 years without any problems).

Anyway the main upshot is that anything the would need to do to correct my posture would be a big op and that while I can cope with the pain and it's not preventing me from doing all everyday things, they should leave things alone (The MRI is to check that there isn't more to it that they need to sort now). Anyway the consultant also said when I asked about family planning concerns that to wait for the MRI but if that's an all clear to basically try for a baby A.S.A.P. before I my condition gets worse over time. Well you should've seen my boyfriends face when I mentioned that. We've been together for 5 years now and he's always known I want kids, but with me not working money's tight and we had planned to hang fire until things were looking up.
He did agree that what the consultant said made sense. So we will wait and see and I'll keep you posted. At least the cross stitching keeps my mind off my worries.

I love all the designs everyone is doing they are all fab.

  • I do apologize for the misplaced blame! :rotfl:
May your needle stay threaded, your stitches even, and may the goddess keep your tangles far away. :)

I'm No36 in a cross stitch challenge I don't quite understand yet, but my goal is to be done all the stitches on my UFO before Christmastime!
