tellmeitsfriday wrote: »!!!! news about your holiday money
They said on the news tonight that it's not protected by CCA protection, it's not covered by FSA guarantee, and that the Administrators will take at least 6 months to assess how much there is available.
They had £2m of assets and £20m of debts! Ouch!
Sorry it's bad news, but sometimes better to know...
it's really horrible, I feel for you Ruth
As for x-stitching. I haven't done any for ages, been really down in the dumps and tired. Think I may have a cold, so i am sleeping loads. Will try to make up for it at the w/e. Honest guv.
On the positive side - hobbycraft and creative stitches was fab. Was craft shop overload. I could have spent £thousands, but I was a good girl and "only" spent £30.
If you can get to one of these shows - go! There's one in Bristol at the weekend, and then the obvious pre-Christmas ones in Brum (NEC) and London (Olympia).
I fancy the big one next March... group meet? xx
CCE/Money-Trust me, I've been reading the threads about it all. Some very dodgy goings on by that company. I'm resigned to the fact that the money has gone. Anything back is better than nothing, but I'm not holding my breath & it'll be a long time before things are resolved anyway. It could've been worse. I'm not having a good year, but this isn't the worse thing that's happened by a long way.
Shows-I've not found them to be as good as they used to be, but if people want to do a meet at one, I'd be happy to come along. Can do London shows, and maybe Birmingham if I can wrangle a cheap hotel and/or talk mum into coming along too.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Course I don't mind you asking where we're going on holiday. We're off to San Francisco for 5 nights, then Vegas for 4 nights.
Just came home and have called a restaurant in Vegas to book a table for DH 50th birthday. They're even coming to pick us up from the hotel in a limo!!! :j Half price wine that night, too. Looking forward to it.
Early news is that we MAY get approx 10p for every £1 we lost with CCE. But who knows if and when that'll happen...
Wow that sounds amazing me and my friends were hoping to go to Vegas next year but I don't think funds will allow! The restaurant sounds great as well - will definitely be a 50th to remember!
Fingers crossed you will get some dosh back!Keep on comping!

It can be on the cheaper side, if you time it right and look out for offers. We're staying midweek (weekends always much more expensive because that's when it's so much busier) and have picked up lots of tips from the Vegas board about how to save money. If you have the time to search out the hotel/flight deals, you can do it quite cheaply. It's a great place. Somewhere really unique.
Gonna try something sort of crafty today. I'm going to attempt to dye a skirt of mine. I have a yellow skirt which I'd left at Mum's & she brought it up last week when she came to London. Unfortantly it was in her suitcase next to a darker scarf and it rained so heavily that some of the dye leaked onto my skirt. I tried washing it, using loads of vanish soap on the marks (twice!) but it's not coming out. So I bought some Dylon yesterday and I'm gonna try and dye the skirt purple. Also got a white top that I've got 2 of (downside of mum knowing my taste-several times she's bought me something that I've already bought myself) that I could add in with it. I've never done anything like this before, so it could be a disaster, but it's worth a bash...:DCross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

oh right think I will definitely have to look into it! It's somewhere I really really want to go but will probably have to wait until my house is finished first!
I used Dylon to dye an old faded black blouse, I had to buy the salt as well but it worked a treat! It looked as good as new afterwards! Although I did do it in the bathroom sink (knowing it was being taken out) and it did make quite a mess!!
I still dunno how to include pictures in my message I am so dull! I have tried several times but it never seems to work please help!!
Anyway on another note I made this before for my friend who was having a baby (I converted into a useable pattern) http://www.rosemarycompany.com/media/WhimsicalNoahsArkBabyShowerInvitations1.jpg
I didn't include the cheesy quote at the top, and added the babies name once he had arrived and it was decided (which took a couple of weeks!)
Well she is pregnant again and due in January I wanted to make her something for her baby, she doesn't know what shes having as she likes the surprise! I don't want to do something too twee, but I am really struggling to find anything that I want to make for her! Plus I am running out of time! I am plodding on with the squirrel but thinking of my next project!!! Any help would be appreciated!!
Thanks in advance! :eek:Keep on comping!

Hi Charliec45,
Drop me a pm with your photo woes (what website you are using and/or where it's going wrong for you and I'll see if I can help out.)
With relation to birth sampler, try sewandso for ideas:

I'm using the Dylon for washing machines. Bit nervous, but read through the instuctions dozens of times. It's dying as I type! It said on the instructions for this kind to use ordinary salt-which I'm guessing is table salt? If it goes well, I can see me dying loads of my clothes and jazzing up my wardrobe. :rotfl:
My friend is pregnant and due mid January. I have a Somebunny to Love cuddly toy with an aida waistcoat on which I am going to give to her. Need to decide what to stitch on the waistcoat, but she knows she's having a boy, so that narrows it down a bit. I know I got it for a good price and I think it was from a stitch shop in Swindon. Sew & So sell them too. Something like these...

Oh by the way Ruth_honey saw an article today in the sun about the company you mentioned with regards to your holiday spending money and there is a helpline you can ring up its MCR: 0844 826 8659. Not sure if you've tried it or if its any help but thought I would mention it! It also said that the git bag paid off everyone that he owed money that lives near him first! Probably cos they know where he lives! ooooooooh some people!Keep on comping!

For anyone who wants to have a peek at the results...
Before
After
I'm pleased with it. Think I might buy some more Dylon and get experimenting with anything else I'm bored with!
Charliec45-MCR (that's the administrators) have our proof of debt form already. DH had spoken to them & it'll probably be at least 8 weeks before we hear anything. And yes, the fact the CCE paid all the locals has annoyed a LOT of people. Very underhand and sneaky. I hope this man gets put away for all the hurt and upset he's caused people. There are so many people invloved that have got it worse than we did. Holiday homes and retirement plans ruined, suprise family holidays cancelled...:( When I look at it that way, we're quite lucky.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
