Just for fun I've stitched my little kokeshi doll into one with different colours (the yellow is the original) :)

Also I've been asked to confess how stingy I can get with my cross stitch materials :o

When I've finished a thread and I've only a few stitches left on it, then I use it to do a stained glass window picture. Here is my one in progress and one that's been finished.

    dscf6092j.th.jpg

I have a ton of grey thread left over from some project or other so I use that as an outline (free stitch that to the shape I please), when the grey runs out I shall use browns or other 'window frame' type colours. I then use my odd threads to stitch random 'squares' in the window. When it's full I outline in black. I always have a window on the go, I just keep it with whatever kit I'm doing at the moment. They do take quite a long time to finish although sometimes I go through my stash and use up the oddments of thread which seem to accumulate there :)

As a variation on a theme I was wondering whether I could do a similar type of thing using a cross stitch patchwork quilt, or a coat of many colours. We'll see if I get fed up with the cross stitch windows :o

Easy and I think looks quite effective. I intend to use them in christmas cards when I have enough done.

I love the idea with the stained windows, its so colourful. I had a friend who had a similar idea and used left over threads in a similar manner to make coushions. It meant whenever she decorated she didnt need to replace them and it tid everything in, personally it would take too long for me. I have a bag full of my ends if you want them!

Hi guys, long time no see  I've been lurking now and then but will have good read through when i get a chance. I did spot Louise's framed lady at the lake, i think it looks really elegant and not too fussy :)
It inspired me to get my lions framed, so being a cheapskate i opted for a £6 clipframe off ebay, lol it was too big looked stupid and too flimsy. So a couple of weeks later i ordered a lovely wooden custom frame from http://www.ezeframe.co.uk/ it came in at £27 delivered not bad considering the cross stitch is 58cmx33cm. So here it is perfectly framed and the rebate of 5mm hides where its stretched slightly :j
I love it, i hope you like it too. I will try and take a straight on picture when its not like the dark ages in my front room :rotfl:

    african_lions_framed.jpg

Nmm that looks stunning in the frame, I bet you are so proud now it is up and framed. We still need to get the angel framed, my dad wants to get it done profesionally at a shop on our front st but I said we could try where mrs mcwamber got hers from and do it myself. anyway....

Here is my 2 months worth of projects:

Firstly there was the Everyone brings joy I was kindly donated, I changed the door and windows

    P1010315.jpg

Fathers day card, I made it look like our own dog, even down to the coat. (this was my first time using evenweave which was kindly donated from a member)

    P1010350.jpg

Didnt have much money so made dad this for present

    P1010351.jpg

When I was feeling really ill made this quick card for my brother who is 13 years older

    P1010379.jpg

I made 2 birthday cards for friends but in different colours to represent their personalities. I liked the saying and loved the glitter kreinik I used.

    P1010397.jpg

    P1010396.jpg

    P1010395.jpg

The way the treble clef stands and a close up of the butterfly wich I added beads too

    P1010353.jpg

    P1010354.jpg

and most recently I did the cross stitch for my nieces card, my mum did the decoration

    P1010446.jpg

My niece has a thing for tortoises so I stitched this in a day

    P1010456.jpg

    Her hamper

    P1010458.jpg

    And thats it for now!

oh and I saw these, not sure if they will be of use to anyone but I saw these little magnets in poundland and thought they would be good for christmas gifts if anyone is interested.

    P1010355.jpg

    Take care everyone.

Glad to see you made use of the evenweave. And the Everyone Brings Joy chart looks good how you personalised it too! You've done heaps of stitching. Well done.
Hubby bought me the magazine with your article in it as my sub had ran out. You're really pretty & I love your hair like that. Suits you! How's your mum about the mag now?

(Can't sleep...aragh! Might have to crack open the Nytol again)

Chicky - love the embroidery...dabbled a bit myself a few years ago (actually over 20 years ago when I think about it:eek:!!)

shelly - I too can back up the great deals and service you get from Acrosstownstitching

    wow these pictures are beautiful.

just getting stuck into my garden shed, and gone wrong,
being the first time on a blank canvass, but its where i over counted on stitches, no one will know, :o

being dragged into town today, so may treat myself to a frame to hold it all together, currently using a free hoop from one of the magazines at, which is a bit awkward when the material is still stiff.

but having fun and now have a bit done resembling the coat, made a copy (or 2 ;)) of the worksheets and mark of what i have done to help me see where i am.

I am determined to see this through and present to parents for Christmas.

    aww thanks Kez

well i had to be dragged into town today with DS, and i thought i would go to st nicks market to the shop that does cross stitch etc, and see what frames they had,

i'm looking for a stand up one to help me, plus if i am do try (haha) to do the full range of cut thru's then i think it would be a good investment for me with my MS.

£32 was quoted, looked on hobby craft website as there is on in Bristol.. couldn't find any.

although looking on e-bay there are a few there to look at, needs to be at least 22x16

    Hi guys
I was wondering if anyone could help me my mum has just informed me that she would like a cross stitch for christmas (don't panic argh!) anyway she really likes poppies so I was wondering if anybody knows of any really nice patterns or kits that I could do - preferably a field of poppies rather than a bunch! Any help/direction would be gratefully received as I am going to have to pull my finger out to get it done in time along with everything else! xx
    Keep on comping!
