    aww thanks Kez

well i had to be dragged into town today with DS, and i thought i would go to st nicks market to the shop that does cross stitch etc, and see what frames they had,

i'm looking for a stand up one to help me, plus if i am do try (haha) to do the full range of cut thru's then i think it would be a good investment for me with my MS.

£32 was quoted, looked on hobby craft website as there is on in Bristol.. couldn't find any.

although looking on e-bay there are a few there to look at, needs to be at least 22x16

Hmmm, I've just bought a floor stand & frame, and I just can't get on with it... we might be able to come to some arrangement ;)

Lemme know what you fink (I can get you details etc if you're in the slightest bit interested!)

    Hi guys
I was wondering if anyone could help me my mum has just informed me that she would like a cross stitch for christmas (don't panic argh!) anyway she really likes poppies so I was wondering if anybody knows of any really nice patterns or kits that I could do - preferably a field of poppies rather than a bunch! Any help/direction would be gratefully received as I am going to have to pull my finger out to get it done in time along with everything else! xx
I think I've got one in a mag somewhere, let me find it for you...
  • I found these two:

wow ! Not sure about these (reaches for  ), but I'm tempted to have a go at a small one.
  • I love colours! Would be worth a try at least once!

My other halfs Best friend and wife have had a little baby girl and I'm going to do a birth sampler for her.

I'm looking for something traditional, on Linen for a change, the couple are quite traditional really (well I think so anyway) I've found a couple of Peter Rabbit ones that I think will be perfect.

Any tips for working on Linen? Never stitched on it before so it would be good for a bit of help before I get started...

Yeah-Don't do it! :rotfl: I'm joking, but it will take longer to stitch, as it can't be rushed. Effect is lovely, though.

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • Do you stitch on it similar to evenweave? I've never stitched on that either, but I've got a gut feeling that it's the right thing to create for them.

Yes, over 2 holes like you would on evenweave. Maybe try stitching a small design on evenweave first to get the feel of stitching over 2? It's fine once you're used to it, but jumping from aida to linen would be quite challenging. Or how about finding a rustic looking evenweave instead of linen? Linen is a PITA to stitch on. It frays very easily and is hard to get straight on the frame. I'm in no hurry to stitch with it again, although the Everyone Brings Joy I did a few months ago does work very well on linen.

I did some of my Dictionary Of Cakes this afternoon. Not enough to bother taking a photo of, but I worked on the shading around the 'Fruit cake' for a few hours whilst watching a (bad!) film.
