Hello! Long time no speak everyone! Firstly, welcome to all of our newbies, we seem to have got a lot in a short space of time, I hope this place helps you as much as it has me. Before I forget, I have got a duplicate of this months cross stitch crazy I got the 5 for a fiver offer but when I was will be dad decided to treat me to cross stitcher which I have occasionally bought with money from surveys but ended up getting crazy and he didnt get it from our local newsaagent so cant take it back there like I normally would. So if anyone wants it you will need to send me a SAE A4 envelope and its yours. First dibs obviously to those who have helped me.
Its probably been about a month since I have been on properly, I have been through hell physically and emotionally but currently am on a bipolar high so feeling better than I have in months! I need to have another op (lost count!) but will deal with that when I get the date. I have done no cross stitch until the last 2 days when I made 2 small gifts for my niece as couldnt do the black treble clef due to bieng ill but will post up what I did at some point (havent had lunch yet as been reading everyones posts!). No further with my backstitch on the treble clef although think there were other things I had never got around to show you. Anyway hopefully things are improving now.
Thanks everyone for your comments about the article. My local newsagent who I have known for years gave me a hug when I went in with my dad to get a paper one day. He said he had seen how much I had changed (one day I will show a photo of the old me, Im unrecognisable) but didnt realise how much I had been going through. It was quite odd. No one else has mentioned it. I do wish they hadnt edited the article so much, there is a couple of bits that arent at all the way I said them and it changes the story in my eyes but I guess I had tried to do their job for them writing it the way I did! I had asked they add how you all helped me out with materials and supplies as I had so little money as a public thank you to you all but was disapointed they missed that out.23rdspiral wrote: »sorry nearly forgot to say what i popped on to say!
Hey Bubbles, yesterday i managed to persuade my local craft shop lady to open up just for me (they closed bang on 4 and i'd got held up in the chemist), and luckily they'd just had your magazine in that morning. i've only read it once so it's not quite gone in, but it's brilliant! well written and reads like a page-turner, in a really good way i mean!i'm so chuffed you were able to mention the MSE Cafe, that they didnt edit it out, and i'm secretly quite chuffed that they kept in my sort-of quote
. :T woop! (ps. love your hairstyle, it really suits you!)
i've shown my fiance, and after asking if i really needed another stitching magazine(!), he was very surprised and touched by the article. not only does he now understand my stitching a little better he also understands my time on the computer a little better too! THANKS BUBBLES!!
stitching is good for keeping my depression at arms length and also surprisingly sociable thanks to this cafe and the lovely people who frequent it. thanks everyone! *hugs*
Bet the lady in the shop was cursing you! Your quote was a perfect way to end the story even if they did get it a bit wrong. Im glad they mentioned MSE although missed out the name of the thread. Glad it touched your husband too and helped him understand a bit. As for my hair I hate it, I had lovely long hair and during a bi polar high cut it all off and have hated it ever since, growing it back now.kindofagilr wrote: »Hi everyone, im new here, I'm currently stitching a christmas stocking for my son, it's in the new world of cross stitch, I'll get a picture up of my progress so far soon, looking forward to seeing everyones work xx
I love that stocking, I had no one to stitch it for but think its so colourful, you will have fun stitching it. Welcome to the thread.Have fun with your Garden Shed Mupette, looks a great design. It does take a bit of getting used to when returning to X-stitching. I returned this year after a break of many, many years! Be prepared for hand, arm and back-ache for a bit!!
BTW, I don't seem to have any probs being left handed (well, I'm a bit ambidextrous, so keep swapping hands!). I do have the light on my right side so I'm not working in shadows though. Just find the middle of the design and stitch where you want!!
Shouldn't be on here yet...should be finishing my foxglove card, I have finished all the back stitch, but now there are over 50 french knots to do...so delaying the inevitable atm!
Oh well, I had better get going, will come back later with piccies.
Have a good day everyone...the rain seems to have stopped for a while here.....
I returned to sitching in February after about a 10 year break and once you have been stitching for a week it seems like you never stopped. I just wish when I gave it up I didnt get rid of all my stash, I kept it for about 5 years but then thought I would never get back to it.
Anyway hopefully I will be back for good like robbie with take that, and sorry for letting you all down with the challenges. Maybe we would be better just having member numbers! lolCross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j

Hello everyone
Well I am very new into cross stitch and I am so addicted its unreal!
Having recently been off my work for roughly a month, I wanted something to take my mind off things and some some cheap Christmas cross stitch packs from Hobbycraft and the rest is history........
Have recently bought my first "bigger" project and have spent hours on it already - love it
I am already planning all the exciting things I can start to make for Christmas.0 -

^ Thats cracking - do you grid the fabric? I am so new into doing it, I have sort of dived in without proper planning which no doubt is making it more challenging for me!0

According to their website, Cottoncrosses are stopping selling kits other than their own - however, I didn't see many bargains.....0 -
while I remember before reading other posts, my mum found this when she was looking for a crafting laminator machine. It works out at a good price for DMC threads http://www.johnsoncrafts.co.uk/shop/info_DMC6.html its 25 skeins of 4 metres but works out at 23.3p per 8 metres which is really god value. Only bad thing is you cant chose your colours.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j
