    FYI - I would personally replace the black threads with white and do it on black aida for a REALLLY striking look. but thats just my opinion.

  • Thanks Chicky, I'll keep that in mind, though I've got plenty of white Aida and metallic green and gold Mideria (sp) thread that I got free on WoXS.

    ordered Tuesday afternoon, arrived yesterday morning,

    Bothy Threads, cut thru' Garden shed :)

    Just to show how long it has been since i did cross stitch, at least 15 years or more, i used the ones with the patterns on, so imagine my surprise yesterday when i opened my package to find a blank canvas...

    fully instructed, although i need to refresh myself with all the codes.. this is going to be hard work, also being left handed doesn't help.

    I can't wait to get started :T:rotfl::rotfl:

    Have fun with your Garden Shed Mupette, looks a great design. It does take a bit of getting used to when returning to X-stitching. I returned this year after a break of many, many years! Be prepared for hand, arm and back-ache for a bit!!
    BTW, I don't seem to have any probs being left handed (well, I'm a bit ambidextrous, so keep swapping hands!).
    I do have the light on my right side so I'm not working in shadows though. Just find the middle of the design and stitch where you want!! :)

    Shouldn't be on here yet...should be finishing my foxglove card, I have finished all the back stitch, but now there are over 50 french knots to do...so delaying the inevitable atm! :o

    Oh well, I had better get going, will come back later with piccies.

    Have a good day everyone...the rain seems to have stopped for a while here.....

    Definitely do the main cross stitch first and the outlining (backstitch) goes on top to emphasise certain details. You could backstitch as you go along, i.e. finish an area of cross stitch, do the back stitch then move onto the next area and do the cross stitch etc.

    Sorry not explaining this very well, hope it makes sense

    You explained it well, as i understood, background first then outline.

    Thank you for that, right then sort DS for his camping trip then settle down this afternoon to start it off, i looked at it last night and thought oh no i only have a few months to do this so that it would be ready and framed for Christmas :o

    I think once i get stuck in i will be fine

    Hi folks - haven't updated much, lost my mojo atm - I blame all the beige colours in those meerkats. :p Still plodding away though, just not doing as much as I normally would.

    Good to see everyone else is still stitching away - welcome to the new posters :j and good luck with that garden shed Mupette, I love those designs and always mean to do one myself but I can't choose between them!!:rotfl:
