Good Morning. Have been having a read on this thread !! I am thinking I would like to have a go at cross stitch. I have 'started' things in the past but very rarely finished them. I think I did a little sampler for a Mothers Day Card a good few years ago. What would anyone recomend for me to start with. Thanks in advance.0

kezbaby love the scarf! I am about 2 thirds through mine and have started another one last night! I am on hol on Friday so wanted Ann to show me how to go on with the new pattern so I can take it with me as I think I will have finished this one by then. The new one is on 10mm needles and I don't like it - feels like I am knitting with sticks.
shelly love your design, great colours.
dorastar glad your hubbie has settled into his job:)
right- I have 8 projects, washed, ironed and waiting to show you on the back of my sofa, could someone please give me noddy instructions on how to get them on here please?
plan for today, get some mount board, go to wilkos and buy frames, take the awkward shaped ones to the framers and frame the rest, oh and maybe get my poorly boy a little treat. He has tonsilitis and is feeling sorry for himself.
I did some rocky point for the last 2 nights and I am on the rocks now so nearly there, due to the knitting obsession I know I won't complete my challenge but have enjoyed it just the same:D
Happy stitching everyone:)I think your son definitely deserves a treat - hope he gets better soon!!
How easy is it to frame the cross stitch yourself as I have always taken them to framers - even the standard sized ones - which I know isn't the most cost effective way by far! Where do you get the mount etc from? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I have a few finished projects but not enough dosh to take them to the framers!Keep on comping!

Thank you for the welcome. I quite like floral type things or anything cute etc. Would I be best to go somewhere like hobbycraft and get a kit with everything in or maybe if there are any magazine with a free starter kit that may be better for me.0 -

You are definitely best off getting a kit because otherwise you will need to buy all of the threads if you only have the pattern. I started off with Winnie the Pooh designs, I wouldn't start with something too large if I was you because it takes ages when you first start as you are still getting to grips with everything! I am sure you will soon become an addict like the rest of us!Keep on comping!

hello....
ok so H&E designs are out then...........
Hobbycraft do (and I am sure you can get them online) some really cute kits called "mouseloft" (can someone have a hunt for them for me I'm at worky). you get the chart, aida and a card mount for only a couple of quids.
failing that the christmas cross stitch mag is out soon and for £7.99 you get a load of bits free with it (again help me out here someone).
OR buy some aida and some threads adn we will all muck in and;) you some floral tiny designs.
enjoyloves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

The Home sweet home cushion is what I am currently trying to work on - I was thinking of adding some more 'embellishments' once the cross stitch part is finished maybe ribbon, applique not sure yet really! It's the first time I have used soluble canvas so I really hope it works!!!
Since reading this thread I managed to push myself to get the poppies and winnie the pooh - flowers smell as sweet as honey - finished, so hopefully I can use those as christmas presents! I have finished more pieces but I didn't take pictures and I gave them away as presents!Keep on comping!
