Absolutely no love in the air at all :rotfl:
I have been with hubby for 20 years and very much in love, no-one else even comes close......ok I'd make an exception for James Toseland or David Beckham but the chances of meeting them in a hospital waiting room when hubby isn't about is zilch ;) :rotfl:

That is so sweet - I hope I still feel like that in 20 years!!

I don't know if I'd make an exception for David Beckham though....!

I spent all day at hospital today (didn't meet anyone nice to chat to in the waiting room mind!) - Mother's gone and had a stroke. How rude! She can move mainly fine, but can't speak at all. Apparently, the big artery (name escapes me) on the left side of the brain is totally, blocked. She has to stay in hospital for 3 days, then go off to a rehab place to learn to speak and use her right arm again. Bah, pants and !!!!!!ations... Poor ol' mumsie x

As long as you like the look of the background, there's no need to unpick it is there.... I think it looks good :) x

I made a winnie the pooh one (a while ago) where Eeyore was floating in the river... I got all of the blues muddled up in the river. As I am the only one who knows, why change it... It still looks good (on the front!)

Wow, you can really tell it is George Michael already. I think it looks amazing T4mof, well done!

Soulie, I agree with TMIF. As long as you like it then does it matter that you tweaked the pattern? You could always tell people that you had a hand in designing it because you didn't stick with the original instructions :). I think it's really pretty, I like elephants!

Yep, I'm sure it will look fine, but to me I will always know that it is slightly flawed LOL
And as someone with OCD, everything just has to be 'perfect'.

Anyways here is my last UFO, the one that put me off backstitch forever!
I started this one as a gift for my Mum for Mother's Day about 4 or 5 years ago, then as soon as I started on the backstitch I got fed up with it and put it away LOL
As you can see, I only did a little bit of backstitching around his face before I gave up, one day I will get around to finishing him off, as I really <3 Tatty!

BTW. Can anyone recommend a good {but cheap} company that converts your photo's into patterns?
I really want to do one of my Uncle, who sadly passed away last year, to give to my Aunt.

Ah - well - I downloaded a trial version of this one (called pattern maker) - you get 4 days, so make sure you print out several copies before the end of it... It works 100% though - and you can save. There's also a download for a pattern viewer on their website

You can pick whether you want the background in the photo or if you want it plain, you can pick the number of colours etc..

The chart is very good quality etc. I had the threads delivered this week, and the range is good.

    Now... Link....
    http://www.hobbyware.com/pm_downloads_trial.htm
If you only want to do one, I don't know why you'd pay for it at all - but if you choose to, the standards version is $60.

    Hope that helps x

BTW Tatty's fab - persevere with the backstitch - and if you muddle that up a little bit - well no one will know xxx

    Oops, forgot something.

Soulie, that's gorgeous! I love Tigers and have that kit in my stash! I'm thinking about getting a white washable pen for when I start mine or is it not too bad to follow the chart and stitch on black at the same time?

Sorry to ask but can you let me know what this post is about? :o I have gone back through my last few posts but can't make head nor tail of it.

    Daylight lamps LOL
You asked about getting a white washable pen to use on black aida, I replied saying it wasn't too bad to work with at all, but a daylight lamp would be a good addition, and that C & C were having them on this week or next, but you'd be able to find a cheaper one elsewhere unless you already have one of course lol

You either leave it as it is (and it just gives it more of a ethereal background quality) OR you go over the same section with another single strand to double it up.

I thought of doing that too, but wasn't sure whether it would look 'odd' or not, I suppose I could give it a try and if it doesn't look good then I will unpick it LOL

I've just recently finished a tatty teddy as I too had put it down because of the back stitch. My suggestion is this: Take it slow and get a sharp needle, as this will help with piecing the Aida and stitches more successfully. You sound like me being a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to things like this, but with these it looks much better.

I'm trying to take up Knitting, it's quite the challenge, considering how well I feel I can do cross-stitch, there's so many abbreviations to learn, makes me appreciate cross-stitch a whole load more!

Just a quick post before bed - stayed up late and finished off the first page of my HAED :)

Was just thinking about my Lake pic - it's been nearly 2 months since I gave it to the framer, he is a friend of my inlaws so will have to ask them to contact him about it. I'm starting to worry that something has gone wrong with it lol.

And so to bed...hoping it's not ANOTHER rainy day tomorrow, I am so sick of the kids being cooped up indoors.

oh dear. i'm so sorry to hear this. i hope you are all doing as well as can be expected. i'm surprised it's only 3 days in hospital, but i guess the rehab place are specialists. good luck with everything. and wishing all the best to your mum.

good luck kez! i've managed to learn the 3 basic 'stitches' and can cast on and off (woop!), and can add and drop (adding is all too easy i do it all the time!)... but i cant see it replacing XStitch or my sewing. i did get a lot done on a car journey though so it has its place! ~ and still thanks to craftygranny for my needles!! x

update: well, i've managed to find the mag with the garden picture i want to stitch my uncle but probably better to do a card first and a picture later if he likes it! so i've dug up a lib book (helen philipps cross stitch garden notebook p42-47) with some appropriate ones, just gotta choose, and make sure it's not too big to be a card!

help!! - the patterns are for 28 count linen - am i right in thinking on 14 aidea it'll be the same size? i only have 14 aieda and can't buy more and dont want to try linen yet!!

Use 14ct aida - it will be exactly the same size (because usually on 28ct you stitch over 2 threads - so there are still 14 stitches per inch)

Re mum - they keep them in for 3 days because medically there's a high risk of a repeat stroke for 72 hrs after...

After that, they're better off in small rehab units where they can concentrate on learning to deal with what's happened and relearning skills like walking and talking.

I am dreading it when she can speak again -she's going to tell us off!! She's going to be a proper moody bear, because she has to give up smoking before they will do the op to stop the other arteries blocking!

Thanks for the thoughts, I will pass them on xx She will probably be fine by Christmas though according to the Doc, so that is very positive :j
