Won't get any stitching done tomorrow as Dad has an appointment at Papworth for an Angiogram. Mum wants me to go with them incase Dad has to have stents fitted and maybe an overnight stay. If he has to stay in she will be a nervous wreck driving home on her own so I have to go as company.....just incase.
Hi Shelly, just wanted to send my best wishes, hope everything goes OK for your Dad tomorrow x:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -
Thanks for the good luck.
No don't have any small stitching I can take, I have a Jade Goody book to read instead. I know she wasn't everyone's cup of tea but I liked her. I had the same diagnosis 2 years before she did but I was incredibly lucky and came out the other side.
Hope everything goes well for your Dad tomorrow.
Which Jade book is it? I recently read Forever in My Heart, which she wrote when she was ill, and cried my way through most of it. I have her to thank for finally going to get my first smear test done. It was the shock of what happened to her that made me find the courage to get it done. Luckily it was all clear, but I would've put it off for a lot longer if I hadn't of read in the papers about her. Stupid, I know...Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hi 23rdspiral, your 'I' looks beautiful. I like that fact that you found a positive in the 90 degree wash story....And a big awww that you chose your fiance's initial. I was nowhere near that romantic. I chose 'U' because I liked the picture :rotfl:, not sure what that says about me!
thanks Simac! / your're welcome/ well, romantic and the fact that i liked the pixie on the I square!
First off, congrats on completing your square:T
With your choice of projects - I would start with the smallest one and work up from there. Unless the gardening one is needed for a certain date (?) then I would do that one first.
Thanks for the advice Louise - i will followboth parts... and stitch a few small gardening designs for a card for my uncle, and see how he likes them. if he does, then he can recieve a bigger one at a later date.:)Ruth_honey wrote: »

Grrrrr grumpy head on again today - quilt square is still MIA, although I believe my small son (3) might have tidied it away for me.
Was coming home to resume search tonight when car started losing power and just made it to the entrance of a riding school (on a windey country road phew!) Was chucking it down, RAC man was grumpy, patronising and asked dim questions about whether the car was humming before it stopped, and which order the warning lights came on - like I cared when I was trying to a) not crash b) find someway to keep it going as far as the riding school c) not make the cars behind crash into me.
End result is a broken car now sitting in front of the house and needing probably a new fuel pump as there is nowt in engine but plenty in tank - still don't know if it was humming or not?Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Hi ladies.
Finally got re-started today on the 'There's no place like home' kit....realised I have been calling it Home sweet Home for a couple of weeks. Silly me
I am finding that using evenweave takes much more concentration than aida. Is it just me or do any of you find that too?
I can't go off willy nilly because counting the squares isn't as straight forward, also I have to be careful not to pull the thread too tightly.
Though evenweave is much better than aida for doing fractional stitches.

Good morning all.
Not posted in the last day as I have been {attempting to} knit a scarf for a Christmas Pressie for my Aunt this year. It's coming along fine, though I always seem to pick up an extra stitch along the way. Thankfully the wool is a fluffy type one, so you can't tell where I have knitted two stitches together, {twice now}, to lose that extra stitch lol
Right, let's see if I can post a piccie yet!
This was my first 'big' cross-stitch, which I last touched in 2004/5, and it took me 8 months to get it to where it {still} is now!
You can definately tell it is an early piece of mine, as the back is in a total mess, as it was before I learnt how to tidy off the threads the neat way, so it is full of knots lol
If I remember correctly it is called 'Tiger and Cub' from the Born Free Collection by DMC13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13

Soulie, that's beautiful! For 8 months work I'd say that you've done loads, considering the detail!0

Thank you, and yes, I suppose 8 months isn't too bad, especially as it was my first BIG project, and I hadn't been Cross-Stitching all that long.
I guess if I put my mind to it, I could have it done before Christmas, but I want to get this {wonky} scarf done first lol13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13

Thanks everyone for the best wishes for Dad today.
I am reading 'Jade Forever in my heart' It's diaries she kept from diagnosis to death. I read the first couple of chapters in bed last night and could have quite easily sobbed myself to sleep. If I was alone I would have done but I didn't want to disturb hubby as he has work.
I was very lucky to be told mine was found in time (though had the pregnancy I had just lost gone to term it would have been a whole different ball game) and I thank my lucky stars that I wake up everyday.
Anyway.....must log off and finish getting ready.
Have a good day ladies!:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
