Can any one tell me why... when you show someone a project you're working on, the first thing they do is turn it over and look how neat the back it? (Or does that just happen to me?)

Afraid I've not really encountered this much either. Most of the people I show mine to don't stitch so they are too busy looking at the front to turn it over. Good job really, I'm still learning so I'd rather they didn't see the back!

I have got a lot neater since I followed a trick in one of the cross stitch mags about only using one thread, doubling it through the needle and catching it on the back of your first stitch. I'm sure all you guys do that anyways but I used to have trailing threads all over the place! Now I don't have quite so many, only when I'm finishing a thread, or if I need to stop and start with the same thread.

I look back at my first attempts and they were very tatty :o, quite glad they are hidden in frames :rotfl:

Ooooh, I'd love a slice of cake. Thank you! I'll put the kettle on. :D

Was supposed to be popping to the shops to get some shopping, but just realised the time. Guess I got a bit involved in my stitching. First proper stitching session in about 6 weeks, though, so I don't feel too guilty.

    Hi ladies.

Finally got re-started today on the 'There's no place like home' kit....realised I have been calling it Home sweet Home for a couple of weeks. Silly me :o

I am finding that using evenweave takes much more concentration than aida. Is it just me or do any of you find that too?
I can't go off willy nilly because counting the squares isn't as straight forward, also I have to be careful not to pull the thread too tightly.
Though evenweave is much better than aida for doing fractional stitches.

Won't get any stitching done tomorrow as Dad has an appointment at Papworth for an Angiogram. Mum wants me to go with them incase Dad has to have stents fitted and maybe an overnight stay. If he has to stay in she will be a nervous wreck driving home on her own so I have to go as company.....just incase.

Don't you have a little UFO that you can take with you? I always have a "spare" that I take to work with me, or on trips out like yours tomorrow... Like the aeroplane cross stitch (as long as you can sneak the needle onto the plane :))

On another note - good luck to your Dad... hope it goes well x

    Thanks for the good luck.

No don't have any small stitching I can take, I have a Jade Goody book to read instead. I know she wasn't everyone's cup of tea but I liked her. I had the same diagnosis 2 years before she did but I was incredibly lucky and came out the other side.
