This is a bit slower going than I thought, but haven't really had the stitchy mojo as much this past week.

:wave:Hi everyone!
I hope everyone is well and happy? I've not had any chance to catch up on here since just before we left for Glastonbury Festival. I'll really try this week! I dont have a current project, but am uming and arhing over whether to start the 'stitch/stash' one, the swallow from the mag (thanks louise!), or a gardening one for my uncle...
But i would like to say that i did post my charity quilt square! :jhere it is:
I chose to do 'I' as that is my fiance's initial. :iloveyou: :happylove
I'm really glad I chose to take part, it was a nice thing to stich for a charity quilt. I learnt a few new techniques (random outlining, and french knots), which is great.
I'm proud i followed through on a project bigger than myself, i didnt quilt once the initial 'woo' had worn off, and i didnt let being really busy then ill stop me.
And I can not wait to see the finished quilt. :TRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Grrr...flipping kids
I had my 'Summer Breeze' all pressed and rolled up in a clean towel sitting on my bedroom unit. One of the little monsters has only gone and used the towel to dry thier hands (or something) then chucked the whole lot in the wash basket....of course I didn't realise it was there....
You can imagine my horror when I pulled it out of the 90C towel wash I had just had in the machine!!!!:eek::eek:
The beading and threads have thankfully survived although it is all now crushed to bits. I have it soaking in some water and softener to try and bring out the creases. Will iron it again in a while.
On the upside...am about halfway through page 1 of 'Touched by Magic'. Quite enjoying it so far
Oh my! that's terrible! i'd have been on the floor in tears!
(on the bright side, you've now allayed any fears we might have of running a piece through the machine on 'delicate', if even a beaded piece can survive a 90C !!) :TRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Now I have re-seen it - there is deffo no backstitch in that, it's alll shading :j
I made myself finish one part of his hand where there would definitely be an outline. It's all fiddly little confetti so it took all the patience I had, but yes I can now see it. I stood at the other side of the room and I agree with all you lovely folks, he won't need backstitch :j.
Hi 23rdspiral, your 'I' looks beautiful. I like that fact that you found a positive in the 90 degree wash story. If Louise's beading survived at that temperature then maybe I will start putting my completed work in the washer. I've never been brave enough before. I also took from that story that Louise's kids are better trained than mine LOL. My DS would have used the towel and then dropped it in a heap somewhere wet through. I was quite impressed that it found it's way into the wash bin. I think there is a forcefield around mine.
And a big awww that you chose your fiance's initial. I was nowhere near that romantic. I chose 'U' because I liked the picture :rotfl:, not sure what that says about me!
And OMG  Louise, even with no Mojo you still stitch more than I probably will do all month! It's coming on great.:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -
Can any one tell me why... when you show someone a project you're working on, the first thing they do is turn it over and look how neat the back it? (Or does that just happen to me?)0

First off, congrats on completing your square:T
With your choice of projects - I would start with the smallest one and work up from there. Unless the gardening one is needed for a certain date (?) then I would do that one first.23rdspiral wrote: »(on the bright side, you've now allayed any fears we might have of running a piece through the machine on 'delicate', if even a beaded piece can survive a 90C !!) :T
Hahahahaha .......every cloud, eh?:rotfl::rotfl:

Glad you have had your worry eased on that score - can't wait to see a piccy - get more done!:j:D:rotfl:I also took from that story that Louise's kids are better trained than mine LOL. That made me laugh - I'm just glad it didn't end up sitting on top of one of the damp red towels...I would have cried then!:rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. The main part of the stitching has been finished for ages, but today I finally got the charting & stitching of the lettering done.
Now I'm desperate to start something new.I have no idea what. Maybe the Juicy Lucy 'Eat cake for breakfast' or the Dictionary of Boots...I know I shouldn't be starting any more. I have far too many UFO's, but you all understand the urge to put that first stitch into a lovely new piece of aida/evenweave...right??? Help!
