I think I have 3 UFO's at the moment, plus a-kinda-UFO, where I did one stitch, then put it away, but it is a massive project, one which I hope to complete in the next couple of years maybe with a little motivation!!
Good luck, when you are able it would be good to see the pictures of your UFOs.Right ladies, I have a question. It's probably a REALLY stupid question but i need to ask. All the kits that I have ever done have needed some backstitch, but there doesn't seem to be any at all on my Nightmare before Christmas picture (not that I'm anywhere close to that bit yet :rotfl:). I've gone through the instructions inside out and upside down and there is no mention at all! I'm just wondering if you guys have ever done a big picture that has had no backstitch at all, is it common? I've even emailed the designer of the kit to check I haven't got a page missing! The picture on the front of the kit is only small so I can't tell from that either. I'm thoroughly puzzled.
Sorry if i've waffled!
Which one is it? I'm thinking like Louise said, that it's all done with the shading of the colours, rather than with backstitch.0 -

I was a bad girl and bought the threads to make my photo stitch - I hadn't really intended to - but 50 for £13 is too good to resist.
I also took my patio doors to the tip - saved me the £100 the council wanted to charge to take them away..
Goodie - that's £87 to spend of crafty bits
Is *that* how it works?
Blimey.....:rotfl:0 -

Backstitch makes pics look fantastic - but I loathe it. I can never quite decide whether to do it all in monumental nightmare at the end, or as I go along....
I am doing the backstitch on the cats one at a time - but that's because I am bored of it now and each completed cat is an achievement!! (I've done 36/100 now... 1/3 of the way there. YAY!)
It just tells me that as a new user I cannot post images yet.
I shall keep trying with every few posts!
I agree, backstitching really can make the 'art' come alive, it is just a pain to do LOL13 Projects in 2013 Finished: 5 of 13

Been away in Scotland for most of the last two weeks...not the greatest of weather...didn't get to Orkney (DH too ill to travel - S&D for two days:eek:)...but did get some sewing done..the elegant lady that Louise has just finished, though nowhere near as fast at stitching as she is. Hope the creases come out Louise, amazed the beads have survived !!
Will post piccies of my sewing tomorrow/Monday once I have caught up with all the washing, cleaning etc that needs to be done. Thank goodness I am not working until next Saturday!!

Thanks Louise, I didn't realise there was no backstitch on the HAED ones, that's made me feel better!
Kezbabybabe, I'll try and post a link to their website, my hubby bought it for me and DS wants the picture when I eventually manage to finish it. Not everyones cup of tea I know, but Jack Skellington is kinda cool:rotfl:

I have now ironed it and most of the creases have came out *phew* not perfect like it was but it should all be hidden when it is framed so not panicking about it.
Bluddy kids :rotfl:

You think that's bad? My brother when he was younger once CUT a piece of aida from a kit I was stitching on. I went CRAZY at him!!! I still get annoyed thinking about it now and it was a long time ago. I never did any more stitching on that kit, although looking back now, I probably could've amended it and done something with it instead of letting the hours of stitching go to waste.
Just got back from a trip to Costco on the bike. Had a battle with the guy on the door because he didn't want to let us take the cool bag inside. We expained that we need it to pack things in, so we know we're not buying more than we can take home on the motorbike. We are happy to have the bag searched at any point, but didn't want to buy more than we can fit into the bag (I know I can get carried away with shopping!). It took quite a while to get the point across, but he gave in eventually. Bought some chocolate brownie mix, but can't make any today as I didn't realise it needed eggs & we don't have any.
Hoping to get some stitching done later. Also need to sort through my Wimblebees order and decide what I'm going to put into Mum's stitching hamper for christmas. I must not keep it all!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
