Ruth honey -ooh thank you will send you a pm. I bet QI was funny - I like Dara O'Brien - we went to see Rich Hall after seeing him loads on QI and he was brilliant - better than on the telly - he even smiles and laughs in real life as well doesnt seem as grumpy as on tv!! He is coming to the area again in September and wondering whether to get tickets or if it is likely to be the same sort of material as it was only jan/feb time.0

Ruth_honey wrote: »Thanks for all the anniversary messages. We had a great day. Lovely lunch at Gabriels Wharf, then off to watch QI being filmed. The guests were Sean Lock, Dara O' Brien and Chris Addison. I'm sure A LOT of it will get cut out because the new series will be shown before the watershed, but it was very funny. New series due to start around September and there'll be more episodes, so it'll run for 4 months, so Stephen Fry told us. Last night was episode 9 (series 8-H) and will be shown around Halloween.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we've just decided that is a RUBBISH idea. the show will only manage 10 minutes :rotfl:(why do i always insist on clicking directly on the smile for that one - i actually hover the cureser until it rolls under it!!)
We think they should have a 30min pre-watershed show and an hour post watershed!! THEN see which rakes in most viewers.
(ooops just realised the last series was pre-watershed and the QI XL was the extended one - I thought it had lost its bite)loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

I didn't think I'd seen one up there (plus monster in law needs to spend 2hours in ours when she comes down. ) I was hoping Kendal or somewhere had opened one that'd make monster-in-law trips more pleasing for meYou guys might come out the dark ages soon

update: i reckon i'm about 1/2 way through the patchwork heart, while i'm really pleased with. it's been really interesting to stitch - even though i've spotted 3, yes 3 mistakes in the pattern - and luckily i hadn't quite stitched them when i noticed. happy me. and i'm in early from work so will go and have a cuppa and do a little more:coffee:Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. hi guys
well they refused to postpone my tribunal so I have to go to it tomorrow and ask for an adjournement due to welfare rights letting me down and the fact my doctor hasnt wrote his report yet despite having it sitting on his desk for 2 months! I saw a different doctor this morning to get a sicknote and about skin falling off my finger and she has given me a letter to take with me explaining the situation and saying I have "significant mental health problems, I believe putting her through a tribunal with these severe issues along with her chronic pain is cruel and unjust." Im hoping they will just see that and pass me! Im getting myself in such a state over it.
Im falling out of love with my treble clef, everything is backstitched and in different colours and its not clear what colour goes where. I often feel like ripping my hair out with it. It makes me feel sick sometimes looking at certain parts of it as the black all blends in and its so hard to make out the back stitch. Last time I did cross stitch had so many projects on the go it became a nightmare so I was determined this time to only ever start one thing at a time but this treble clef is trying my patience.
Anyway for the people that didnt want to do stitch n stash I have gone through my limited collection of mags and came up with 3 alternatives which take the same 30- 35 hours. It would be good if could all chose the same one and personalise them as with stitch and stash. I have a soft spot for the house one which Louise has already started.23rdspiral wrote: »Hey Bubbles, i hope you feel better soon. i'm sorry to hear they've messed you about. i dont know anything about that but i'm shocked if not entirely surprised that they can do this to you.
Thanks for sorting the list out. Can't seem to see JUNE though. I'm gonna add a May challenge for me too, i didnt think i'd have time but as i'm about 1/3 through the push might help.
Also perhaps it would help if we wrote our challenges out neatly in your format for you to easily copy and paste?
May
No 23: 23rdspiral to start and finish the 'patchwork' heart that Ali.123 sent me the chart for.
June
No 23: 23rdspiral to start and finish the I of the charity quilt before I go to Glastonbury Festival!! (or finish it quickly when i get back!)
Stash Team Stitch: hey bubbles that's a really nice idea of you to look out a different design for those who dont want to stitch this 'team' one. i cant even remeber what it looked like, or if ive even seen it, but it sounds very appropriate for me. do you still have my email?
Update: i've done some more on the patchwork heart sitting in the fading sun and it was lovely. looked up after a few minutes and it had been an hour and needed to get dinner on in a hurry! oopsie!
ALI.1.2.3, or anyone else - can i ask what colour the 'cresent moon shape' on the legend is suposed to be?!? it's pale and we've already got white and cream on the go... so grey maybe? i had a look at your blog Ali and see that you did it dark green. i'm considering french blue (colour of my kitchen cupoards) but it's suposed to be DMC 3840 or Anchor 130 - can anyone help?!
Thnanks for putting your challenges in the same format, it makes it much easier as otherwise I have to go back to the april challange to get everyones number. I will post the updated one on sunday as usual.Mountain_Ash wrote: »Evening folks,
Hope you are all well and big Zen hugs to all those who need or want them, especially Bubbles (sorry to read that they are messing you about)!
I've been lurking and not posting, but I have been stitching, I promise. I'm not going to post my zebra UFO until Bank Holiday so that the visible difference of my May challenge will be as visible as possible
However, I started my John Clayton Fuchsia panel on 2 May so this is my current WIP (as opposed to my UFO).
I started at the centre and am working my way up to the top of the panel. The photo shows the full width of the panel (4 and a quarter inches) and about 2 inches in length (full thing is 12 inches in length). I am enjoying it and you can see the flowers coming through already, but there is some blending and that is a painI couldn't use a loop start so tried a waste knot - third time lucky
The wretched threads knotted themselves twice so I had to cut them, unpick and start again. In the end I ran them through Thread Heaven and that seems to have done the trick. Has anyone any other ideas that might solve this problem?
As for my June challenge, well that will be my Y square for the great quilt caper.
Everybody's work is looking so good and its so nice to have more light to work in, although it was a bit too hot for me this past weekend.
All the best to you all for Bank Holiday Monday and the completion of your May challenges.
Cheers,
Ro
Thanks for your kind thoughts.
I love the design you have just started, the colours in to look really nice - Im looking forward to seeing more of it.That would be great if you don't mind... sounds like our place at the momentahh well I can do some tomorrow can't i lol
We haven't got ants...yet but i have got spiders
omg dont even talk to me about spiders. I have found 4 massive ones in the last 3 days. I have never seen such big ones before, I thought they were supposed to go outside in the summer!Ruth_honey wrote: »<a href="http://s917.photobucket.com/albums/ad11/Honey_4/My cross stitch/?action=view&current=EveryonebringsjoyUnframed24thMay201.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i917.photobucket.com/albums/ad11/Honey_4/My cross stitch/EveryonebringsjoyUnframed24thMay201.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
I finished stitching it about 5pm today. Not had time to frame it as DH gets home at 6pm and I needed to have a quick bath.
He's decided as we're out all day tomorrow, we should exchange cards & gifts tonight. He's bought me a lovely bronzed glass heart necklace. Sooo pretty! Also a little 'Wife' token thingy to keep in my bag/pocket/etc. Off to find a gift bag to put the stitching in now. Hope he likes it...:)
Congratulations Ruth, it looks lovely, I know you had a nightmare stitching it on linen but I think it does actually finish the design off. I dont think it would look nice doing it on Aida so I will have to buy linen when I get round to it. Hope you both had a fantastic aniversary.Thank you!! I got to see him 3 times on his tour and like you, never thought I'd see him live. I even flew to Dublin to see him - 10p flights and £50 tickets were too much to resist! I ended up on the second row and he was almost in touching distance.
Anyway pressure is on to make a good job of this cross stitch now there's another fan on here
Think you're treble clef is coming on really well.
I was 6th row for the opening night and nearly died! Something actually really annoyed me actually this might make you laugh, I had tried to see George at the Tickled Pink concert he did (paid £350 for tickets!) we were at the Albert Hall the day before waiting for him to arrive when he cancelled. I was distraught so my friend promised when he next did a show she would wait with me, no matter how long it took, until I met him. So we waited at earls court for about 5 hours waiting for him to arrive and anoter 3 to leave but no luck. I went to my hotel with another friend and my friend went into central london to meet her flatmate as she had forgotten her key. So her and her flatmate drive home and someone bumps into her car, they stop and exchange details and guess who gets out of the back for a fag! She took a photo and texted it to me and I wanted to murder her! Anyay after that little story, I have high hopes for your stitched version!Morning everyone - I'm creeping in a bit embarrassed to say that I've hardly done any cross stitching in the last 2/3 weeks:o I've just been so busy with work and decorating that I'm shattered at the end of the day.
I'm away on holiday in a couple of weeks time to Fuerteventura for 2 weeks:j(I'm just praying the ash clouds stay away at least until I get there). I intend to take my quilt square with me and one of my UFO's although I'm not convinced I'll get that much done but I'll try.
Bubbles - My mum started the clef as well but she found the backstitch a bit daunting as most of the individual flowers are outlined with backstitch. I think she's decided that it will look ok without the outline but just using the backstitch to do the detail inside each flower.
Everyone is doing really well and I do drop in most days to have a wee lookie to see the updates.
Well, I'd better get back to work. Have a nice day everyone and I hope the sun keeps shining where you are (unfortunately it's turned cold and grey here).
LC
Im glad its not just me finding the backstitching difficult, I wish they had it in a different colour to black as then you could see it better. Plus they should make what colour goes where clearer.
Im so jealous that you are going on holiday, Im sure you will have a wicked time.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j
