Time off work? There's dedication for you!
Oh yeah, I didn't give myself enough time and I was seeing the person on their birthday and it still needed to be framed. :o

It's one I coverted from his drawing and turned it into a cross-stitch, it was only meant to be A5 size, but it ended up 30 x 40cm! Slight miscalculation!

    Here is the finished product:

I used this software to make the pattern:
    http://www.stoik.com/hobby/stitch/

Unfortunately I couldn't squeeze it into the 15 day free trial, but I found it to be worth the money, it had Anchor, DMC and Maderia threads within it. You can ask it to do as much detail as you want.

I'll be using it again for at least two of my christmas projects.

There was something really satisfying about creating the whole cross-stitch from chart to completion. Not that I could design one from scratch, though it's good to be able to reproduce things you like if you can't find a suitable chart or kit. ;)
  • MRSMCAWBER: That's amazing progress from Friday!

Don't you just love it when you get right in the groove and you can't stop stitching? :D

On that point, I'm going to head off myself and get some stitching done. I feel a session snuggle under the duvet is called for. ;)

    Catch you later on.

  • i am doing my colchester united one for my dad from scratch (well kinda), he brought a pink hat and scarf set for Phoebe (my daughter) and i got a bit of graph paper and copied the stitch count on the scarf onto paper to make the design then used a col u carrier bag to try to get my threads as close in colour as i could ... only got the blue left to do now and i have been working on it for about 4 hours in the evening yesterday and today and am about half way through it so hope to have it complete by the end of next week .... i would say the weekend but not sure how much i will be here to do it .. but it might happen if i can put the hours in .... to add to my projects i have also been asked to stitch the names of my mates daughters for her for them to put on their bedroom door ... and also one of her mates 2 kids for their doors lol .... it will be quite nice to do something by request ... so it might be a while before i finish of Ivor the Engine that i started a year ago lol (ohh well maybe next year hehe).. there is way too much i wanna stitch :D

    CrossStitch WIP's :
Fairy door signs for - Amber , Serenity and Mia
    Alien door sign for Dylan

Ivor the engine still to complete ... and i'm sure i have others that only have a few stitches in that need to be done :D
  • Wow MummyClaire! You certainly are busy. I'm not usually stitching more than one project at a time. I might do two at once, if I have one on my stand and then a smaller one which travels with me.

I've been fortunate in the past as some car journeys are over an hour on the motorway travelling to places, so if the light's good I'll do stitching in the car, since I'm not driving.
  • Morning gang, hope everyone had a good stitching day yesterday.

MrsM, thanks for that site, will e-mail them to see if they can track down that chart. I know some people on here have stitched a few HAED charts, what do you stitch them on, have never stiched on 25 ct before ususally choose 28 evenweave given the choice.

Love seeing the progress, keep the pictures coming everyone:)

    Morning all

Just thought I would take a few minutes before I get on with my next chunk of pattern :D
Kez- Im doing my HAE designs on 28ct evenweave -and stitching over 2 threads using 2 strands.... I can't imagine sewing on 25ct over 1 thread and using 1 strand  -I would go cross eyed..

Right -back to my sewing I go :j-have a great day everyone

  • MrsM what a lovely lady Jayne is at sewalong, e-mailed her first thing this morning and have already had a reply saying she is adding that range to her website and will include Pixie Dust in her first HAE order. Thank you for putting me in touch with her. Must admit to being a bit dubious of stitching on 25ct, have used 18ct before and drove me mad, think I may stick to 28 ct evenweave what do people think?

Right off to do some packing, no stitching for me today picked up the keys to my new house just before Xmas but have been unable to move yet cause of the snow but its finally melting now:j.

    Have a happy day everyone.
  • Hi everyone

I love cross stitch and sewing and am very impressed with all your work! I really like seeing the photos of your progress. I am going to be in Liverpool city centre on Monday and will be visiting Abakhan! (Can't wait) Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I should look out for and are there any other shops I should visit while I'm in Liverpool? (City Centre only)

    Thanks in advance.:D

P.S. I'll be in Bristol city centre (Cheap flights from Belfast) on February 1st so welcome suggestions for there too.
