It's been quite quiet on here last night and this morning,, I can only assume everyone is stitching frantically trying to complete their challenges by Friday!!
just what i was thinking.
i am waiting for DS to have a nap so i can do some more stitching.......loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Afternoon all. I've been awol for a few days as I've been really busy at work. I have been plodding on with the Taj Mahal but I have a confession:o I bought this kit and have started it this weekend. In my defence though I ran out of threads for the Taj Mahal and had to wait for them to be delivered .............. in the same parcel as the kit (and only took 1 day to come).
I promise that I will give the Taj my full attention over the next few evenings to get it finished. I'll post a picture later this week.
I see there's a new challenge for May so mine will be to finish the Welcome kit as above but also to finish a bouquet of flowers pattern which I started many, many moons ago (pictures to follow later).
Thanks for the number Bubbles - I'll amend my profile shortly.
I also read about the round robin - fab idea and I'm keen to join up.
I'm not up to speed with everything that's been going on but congrats to those who have completed their April Challenge and hugs to those that need them.

I cleaned my floral alphabet by cleaning it with soap powder (bio) and soaking it in a bath for a while - then thoughrly rinising it. Use warm water. Found washing it in bath then rinising it with shower worked well.
Check the threads are colorfast first tho.
Rust marks didn't come out. I hope to hide them in the mount when I can afford to frame it.
Glad you decide to do it - as I said I did my floral alphabet in memory of my late husband. Started it when he was alive (he suppplied the materials) finished a few years after he died and it had been abandoned in shed.
Kind wishes
sweetcarer
PS Been thinking alot about the big quilt - even doddled a diagram for a layout if we use the alphabet - like the Margaret Sherry one in Cross Stitcher mags website. Will try to upload it later.:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Have to give hubby a mention cos he has been brilliant - I was working yesterday and when I got in he had started the ironing for me!!! He had got halfway through the pile and had even been ironing pyjames, which I never do :rotfl:His reason - So I could sit and relax after dinner and get on with my stitching
I knew I married him for a reason:D:rotfl::T
Hubby never do ironing but he will give me time to do my stitching - aint we lucky.:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Bubbles
You can give me a callenge number too - to finish one A4 page by end of July. Alot of confetti stitching.

I will complete the UFOs on this picture, with the Best Friends Cushion being last, should I not complete it in time, this will become my June Challenge.(*Louise* - the thread has arrived, thank you hunny!)
Kezybabybabe - good luck with your new challenge!! oh, i've a bit of a favour to ask you on behalf of a friend who sometimes lurks here but never posts (tut tut you-know-who!)... she was totally inspired by your 'angelic' bangonthedoor and has since looked all over the internet for the chart but can't find that one anywhere. would you be able to point us in the right direction or even perhaps *nudge?? It looks just like her niece and would make such a nice present!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. Hey, thanks you two! I wouldnt have minded at all at being number 21, but being number 23 actually make me clap at the computer screen!:T It's my lucky number and significant in many ways to me, so that's definatly a good sign for keeping on making progress!

Did buy a little Fillmore cross stitch from Disney cars to do for ds and a beginners quilting set - did try once but was a bit too young and impatient (was about 16 years old) and messed it all up!
What sort of kit is it Dorastart? do you patchwork first? (english paper piecing or machine piecing?) or go straight to quilting over a picture? i'm intrigued! and if you need any advice i might be able to help.I don't suppose anyone has a copy of this kit - I'd be more than happy to pay magazine price plus p&p.pamperedprincess wrote: »I have this kit which I would be happy to send to you with the chart as I will not use it. PM your address and I'll pop it in the post on Monday.
i've only just read back and seen this. that's very kind of you pampered princess to send the kit. i've got the chart already scanned for my own use so can email that, but it sounds like youre all sorted!
April Challenge Update: i should have been inside making a raven, but i sat in the sun and stitched a couple of little pics on the kitchen sampler. So, just one to go!:j~ boy i've had to get used to half stitches! i've taken to NOT unthreading and rethreading my needle to do them, as suggested in the mags, but instead i use a big sharpe needle to poke a hole then i carry on as usual. much quicker and easier for me, but you probably all do that already!:DRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23.
