Oh wow Kez that will so great at the end of May to have all those finished pieces:)
Keiss I hope your foot isn't as painful this morning0 -
Thanks for all your kind wishes...the foot is still quite sore this morning, though I can put more weight on it today. It is worse when I have it down, so it will have to be raised up for most of today...what a shame!
It looks like the big toe has taken most of the impact, all of the nail is blue/black now!
I have iced it this morning to help ease the pain.
I am now finishing off the bookmark for my friend's birthday next week. Finished the sewing, now to cut some interfacing for the back, will see how it looks before deciding whether to add a material back too.
Have the snooker playing live on my computer as well...looks like the "old man" may just win his match!! (ie Steve Davis against John Higgens).
Will post my piccies later..possibly even today, depends on how things go.
Enjoy yet another lovely day. Shame I can't do any gardening though. I will just have to stitch to cheer me up :rotfl:.

Hi ladies.
Witchwoo and bubbles I too am a big HP fan! I love the films but I loved the books more. I have read them all a couple of times and am thinking about a 3rd time when I have finished the book I am currently reading. I bought a 'Winky the house elf' toy from amazon awhile back because he looked ok on the site but I was disappointed when he arrived, he's quite ugly!
Bubbles your finished Angel is gorgeous, I love the colours.
Out of interest, where do you all buy your cross kits/material/threads? I bought WOCS the other day and actually read it rather than my subscription copy of cross stitcher which seems to go unread! and Ive noticed lots of needlecraft companies. I don't actually need any more stuff but I always like to keep abrest of new kits etc as if you don't grab it when you see it then I find it ends up discontinued and you have missed out.:(
Personally if I see a kit that I just have to have I will research prices online (incuding ebay) and buy from the cheapest!
I have a few 'trusted' sites we have all used and recommend to each other saved in my favourites and will usually end up buying from one of those.
For fabric I have recently been buying 99p shop kits because it's ok quality and a nice size for the size of projects I do.
For threads I think we all tend to use across town stitching. They are cheap and have excellent customer service.
Now I have a to admit to a BIG booboo on my part
Yesterday I needed to move to another section of fabric on my frame and as I unwound the rolled fabric I realised it looked like I wouldn't have enough at one end to finish the design.
I took it off the frame, re-folded to find the middle and for some reason I have marked the fabric twice, once in the right place and once in totally the wrong place. Working it out I have counted and started stitching from the wrong mark.
I counted out the amount of stitches still to go and it's going to be very tight at one end, there won't be much fabric left!
I was so cross at my mistake I whipped it off the frame and put it all away
So I got out the kitchen shelf kit, done the photocopying and looked at it for an hour because I was too scared to start incase I made the same mistake again.
I did eventually get started though and have checked about 1000 times I have started in the right place :rotfl:
The no place like home kit will get done eventually (it's already bugging me that I gave up so quickly on it) because I have been wanting to stitch it for ages and I really like it. I was just so cross yesterday I had to get it out of my sight.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Shelley I would have been really annoyed with myself too, im sure marks move themselves its really not us doing it wrong
I think you probably did the right thing by putting it away while you were annoyed about it, you'd have stopped enjoying stitching it. Just get it back out when you're excited about doing it again
Oh and its sad that Winky The Elf looked ugly

My thoughts exactly. I was enjoying it until I found my mistake and then I just couldn't bear looking at it. I'm hoping to go back to it after the shelf kit I have started.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Shelly - Sorry to hear about the booboo, I done something similar the other weeek myself where I had miscounted my marker. I was a little luckier in that it was salvagable after a heap of 'reverse stitching'
How muh had you actually got done? Is it worth unpicking or would you be best starting again?
Kez - glad you have got your May Challenge organised!
So have I actually.......:o
May Challenge - To complete the ABC afghan for my sister's baby (she is due 25th May)
No stitching for me today, taking our three to Clarks to get measured and hopefully get them all trainers and sandals. OK I've decided. I've got a Wallace and Grommit bookmark kit that I bought with my Father in Law in mind. It's his birthday at the beginning of June so I shall make that my May challenge!
Sorry to hear about your foot Keiss, hope it's feeling better today xxx:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -
Just got back in from the stitching show - was more crafts than stitching, lots and lots of stalls selling cardmaking stuff and a few on stitching (which was probably just as well cos I didn't zoom around spending money).
Did buy a little Fillmore cross stitch from Disney cars to do for ds and a beginners quilting set - did try once but was a bit too young and impatient (was about 16 years old) and messed it all up!
Also had a go at a workshop doing silk shading embroidery which I've never done before - was quite good so might end up doing some more.
Have made a big brew and going to sit in the glorious sunshine, ignore the dandelions and do some stitching on the fairies as dh has taken the kdis out somewhere and it is lovely and peaceful here.
Thank you again Bubbles for the tickets - my friend had to pull out this morning as she has been up all night with her ickle boy and he is still poorlypopsBut I had a really nice time mooching, spending and stitching thanks to your generosity :T
