I dont know anything about racing cars but found your story interesting. I have quite a few celebrity encounters myself. One being that I used to be friends with someone who is now a huge superstar singer, wont name him though. The funniest though has to be seeing heather mills done for shop lifting in my local Asda!
    ...
I could never afford a mag a month neither but I got world of cross stitch and cross stitch crazy on 5 issues for a fiver and am going to cancel the direct debit before its due to take another payment!

Hey bubles, i'd Love to know who that was, but i understand! :rotfl:about Heather Mills, she does need help poor thing. I really should look into the DD offer, but am scared after reading posts on the magazine thread that they might take the next DD to early or even straight away!

:j:j:j Does it make me a saddo if I'm excited about getting my very own number :rotfl:. That will be going in my signature box when I get it! Thanks Bubbles :)

23rdspiral, I love your celeb stories, I bet Jenson and his dad were real sweeties. I'm not all that into the whole cars whizzing round a track thing, but it's always on the tv because of DS and DH. Of all the drivers I think Jenson Button would be the one I'd most like to meet :). I just wish I could say I'd met anyone of interest. I'm thinking and thinking and meeting Mickey Mouse might be just about the highest ranking celeb I've ever had an autograph from :rotfl: Does that count???

I think we'd all count as sad at the idea of numbers if that's the case! I was never really into the car racing, just where i grew up when you turned 16 is was either working there or at 'Gateway' supermarket. I'm glad i made the choice i did! Sadly i have no autographs as asking would have meant dismissal, hence me not being able to remember some names! so i'd say that an actual autograph of Mr Mouse himself definately counts!
perhaps someone who gets the mag could **wink wink nudge nudge** around others in the group and have a group challange to each stitch it before (I don't know July - assuming it is a small one).

The main rule being you MUST NOT use the exact colours it tells you to use so we can have an album with the same project stitched in various colours??

Chickywiggle - i think this is a FANTASTIC idea! can we do it? PLEASE!! :D

UPDATE: sorry, forgot that was the reason i logged in! I've done the chicken! well, kinda done 2 really, ish. anyway, i was hoping to finish it tonight but OH has now said he's taking me out for a meal - its our 1 year anniversary of being engaged.

what we COULD do is all stitch a small design (size TBC) and send them to someone on the sowing thread (if there is one) who could stitch it onto a patch. They could send to a named person on the quilting thread (if there is one) who could make one HUGEEE patchwork quilt.

Looks like people on here do sewing and quilting :) Not that im excited lol

Got to be the first time ive had a good idea...im making the most of it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just thought id add... don't panic I haven't mentioned it on that thread yet though :D

Chicky wiggle - it sounds like a great idea! Emzy - i was one of the first members of the Sewing Room, and they are very lovely over there, though there are only a few of us who have confessed to doing patchwork, (dont know if its got a seperate thread just for quilting) and yes i'm one of them:cool:. though i am very slow. the girls there are currently nagging me into finishing a block patchwork quilt that i started about 8years ago have have finished everything apart from doing the 80 button ties to acually 'quilt' the darn thing! :o

Martin could then auction it for charity????

(ok it needs a bit more work and co-ordination but you get the idea)

ohh glad people are up for the quilt..... thanks for the original idea Emzy I don't want to take all the credit.

Right am off to start a thread to see if we can get people from all groups together....... will post a link..........

Please help me out over there tho with the running of it - as a full time working mum I realllly don't have the time to do the organising - but will help as much as I can.
If you want to be 'in charge' etc then PLEASE drop me a message or post on the thread and I can make it clear in the 1st post to contact you.

Anyone good at blogging who could set up an 'off forum' group if required (I don't know the MSE rules around this sort of thing).

LINKY to the great quilt idea
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

    Hi Gang

Can I join in with the charity - square - round robin idea. Let me know what designs your thinking of doing.

Hubby had a hearing for his appeal last night - they will let him know in due course what happened.

Off to do some stitching now - didnt do any last night was at a old Girl Guide reunion. Didn't know I was going till last minute, felt quite "shy" about going - glad I did in end met up with some from years back, but was sad too as I was thinking of my friend who I met via a camp years back (would be be 21 years this year). She stopped talking to me when I married my hubby. It hurts.

Well better on with golden earth,

    Kind wishes to all

    sweetcarer ;)

Im just munching my m&s meringues  before I sit down in front of the box with my cross stitch.

I haven't caught up properly with all your posts but hope to do so over the weekend.

I am quite intrigued about the idea of the round robin thing. what a great idea. If time allows I would like to participate.

I think that us all doing small kits rather than one big kit would be the better option.

Im glad its the weekend as its been a busy week. Im looking forward to getting some cross stitch done. I just hope my furry alarm clock doesn't wake me too early tomorrow !!!!

Im stitching a small xmas tigger kit at the min. I can't make up my mind whether to make it into a coaster or stick the design ready for my friend's xmas card. will decide when its finished I suppose.
I gave up on the pooh kit as I went wrong but I will (third time lucky) get it right eventually. Im starting early for christmas this year ! it will save money If I can make some of my presents.

Out of interest, where do you all buy your cross kits/material/threads? I bought WOCS the other day and actually read it rather than my subscription copy of cross stitcher which seems to go unread! and Ive noticed lots of needlecraft companies. I don't actually need any more stuff but I always like to keep abrest of new kits etc as if you don't grab it when you see it then I find it ends up discontinued and you have missed out.:(
  • hi all can i join in please with the charity square please :)

sweetcarer hope it all goes ok with hubbys appeal, try not to feel sad, you have everyone on here ....but i do know where you are coming from, all my family stoped having any contact with me after my mum died (i was her carer for 10 years) and i married my hubby sending big hugs :)

Looks like I was too late in setting up a thread lol :rotfl:glad so many people want to do it :j I think it will be a lovely combined project for everyone and someone in need gets to benefit at the end. Big thanks to chickywiggle for setting up the thread

Sweetcarer hugs to you, it sounds like you need them, I can understand where you're coming from but just try and remember you are a lovely person and its them that are missing out xxx

sweetcarer I totally understand how you feel. Someone I had been friends with for 10 years stabbed me in the back, turned out she had only ever been using me. Yet there isnt a day that goes by when I dont miss her friendship. I dont really have any other friends now, they were all friends of us both and as I kind of went to ground they all moved on without me. This thread is as close to a social life as it gets but glad I have it. We can support each other through it ;-)

Anyway I have finished the Angel! Well, I still have the border to do which I am not looking forward to but here she is:
