(i dont think it really is gossip, more like history, as it was quite a while ago) ... I did really enjoy working at Silverstone. I did silver service so worked in the BRDC clubhouse a lot for events and private hires and each season got assigned to a 'company box' so the client got stability during their track sessions and races. Jeson Button was very young and sweet and I'll always remember his dad as a supportive and kind person - the champaigne he gave me on one of Jensons wins helped a bit!!:T
I met some minor royalty, politicians, and the F1 bloke with the big chin who was very nice and funny, and worked the box of a lovely lady and a bored kid who later turned out to be the family of a foreign F1 driver whose name i forget. The one person who really disapointed me was Jeremy Clarkson - he was rude and dismissive of the staff and very ignorant. He liked being the centre of attention and had such long legs it was often impossible to clear plates around him. One time he was leaning against the counter and literally boxed me into the kitchenette i couldnt get out! I kept saying 'excuse me please' very politely, but as a slightly star struck 17yr old i didnt have much oomph! In the end the other bloke from the old Top Gear told Jeremy to "move it and let the young lady out"!:rotfl:
Sorry everyone else for hijacking the thread! I've just had the new Estate Agent round so officially have NO cleaning, NO tidying or even real cooking to do this evening, and with OH at the gym till 9.30, I WILL crack that Chicken!!
I dont know anything about racing cars but found your story interesting. I have quite a few celebrity encounters myself. One being that I used to be friends with someone who is now a huge superstar singer, wont name him though. The funniest though has to be seeing heather mills done for shop lifting in my local Asda!Next months issue of Cross Stitch Crazy will contact a chart that says:
'I stitch, therefore I stash'.
For some reason it made me think of all the lovely people on here.
Cx
haha I like it. My mum always calls this my stitch and !!!!! thread for some reason! I keep saying we arent !!!!!y but she said it rhymes!23rdspiral wrote: »it's a shame i can't really justify a mag next month, unless there is lots of good things in it? i've bought 4 second hand ones this month so thought i'd used my pennies wisely? humm.
I could never afford a mag a month neither but I got world of cross stitch and cross stitch crazy on 5 issues for a fiver and am going to cancel the direct debit before its due to take another payment!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j

:j:j:j Does it make me a saddo if I'm excited about getting my very own number :rotfl:. That will be going in my signature box when I get it! Thanks Bubbles
23rdspiral, I love your celeb stories, I bet Jenson and his dad were real sweeties. I'm not all that into the whole cars whizzing round a track thing, but it's always on the tv because of DS and DH. Of all the drivers I think Jenson Button would be the one I'd most like to meet. I just wish I could say I'd met anyone of interest. I'm thinking and thinking and meeting Mickey Mouse might be just about the highest ranking celeb I've ever had an autograph from :rotfl: Does that count???
:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -

perhaps someone who gets the mag could **wink wink nudge nudge** around others in the group and have a group challange to each stitch it before (I don't know July - assuming it is a small one).
The main rule being you MUST NOT use the exact colours it tells you to use so we can have an album with the same project stitched in various colours??witchwoopiggy wrote: »thank youso nice to meet another hp fan
I love HP toooo.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Evening all,
Time for my update....
This was last week
And today
Haven't made loads of progress, but have made a dent in the backstitchAm going to leave all the french knots until after I've washed it though, too worried they'll all fall out
Bubbles - am glad you're feeling better, and thanks for the offer of the fairy chart, I may just take you up on that when I've finished my Christmas projects :T
23rdspiral - as a F1 fan it's interesting to hear your stories, I can't believe Jeremy Clarkson was like that though, just goes to show how different stars can be in real life.
Witchwoopiggy - can't wait to see the finished Hogwarts crest, I wonder if you can get any other hp designs.
I have to put my hand up and admit that I'm another list maker, not that it always helps me to remember stuff, I often just loose the lists!
Congrats to all on their progress, I hope you meet your April challenges! Still a week+ to go though, so I'm sure you will!
While I'm nattering on, I was wondering if anyone has done any projects for a Christening. I've got a niece's to go to at the end of May and I think I might do a x stitch as a gift. Any suggestions would be most welcome
I've also got a wedding in June and was thinking of doing a sampler for that. sweetcarer - the ones you posted a few pages back are fab, were they from a pattern? I am quite rather keen on this though, I love the colours and I think it's quite to the bride (and groom's I guess) taste. What do you all think?Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -

It was the RIBBA frame. I bought the 50 X 50cm one in silver. Maybe have a look at the back when you're next in IKEA and see if you're familiar with the fittings. It might just be me!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Scoobie - I love that wedding sampler. I've been trying to find one I like to do for hubby and me (married nearly 2 years) but could never find anything I liked. That's lovely though - I'll have to see if I can find the £23 now...0

I have done jury service and loved it! Though when I first got my call up letter I was bricking it, I really didn't want to do it but I'm now glad I didn't have a reasonable excuse to get me out of it.
My group only had 2 cases to judge and both were guilty verdicts. Only thing I regret is not finding out what sentences/punishments were given in each case. I feel like I have started something and not finished it off....if that makes sense?
I was a bit nervous when I got the summons. I had to defer it first (was before christmas & clashed with a holiday), then got sent this date. I was in 2 minds about it. I wanted to do it because it's a great oppertunity and I might not get asked ever again. But I was scared about what to expect and if I would get a horrible case that would give me nightmares! (doesn't take much-I'm such a wimp) Also being so soon after my Grandma dying, I wasn't sure if I'd be able to cope with it. I know she was interested in hearing about my jury service, though (she was never called up) and I decided to do my best and if I found it too hard, I could explain to someone why I was finding it difficult. It's taking my mind off everything else, though. I have moments when I feel a bit teary, but having something so important to think about is giving me some focus. I come home feeling absolutely exhausted. Roll on Saturday when I can sleep until lunchtime!
If we do find the person guilty, I'd *have* to find out what the sentence was. I'm far too nosy not too. Hopefully the verdict will be tomorrow, then I expect next week I might get another case.Don't apologise for the size, I (personally) think that's perfect. I can see it clearly. Makes my life easier as well lol - my laptop is getting on a bit and sometimes takes a couple of attempts to open links :rotfl:
I agree-the size was just right. It's coming along really well. The bees look really cute!Ruth_Honey – Thanks, I’ll have a nosy at that site when I get home, the words ‘Free P+P’ usually work for me!
Ditto! Unusual for a cross stitch site to have free P+P too.
So are we continuing the challenges into May??? If so I’d better get my thinking cap on, so many options, I need to pick one I really want to do.
If we're having a May challenge, I might as well say that I want the 'Everyone brings joy' chart finished by May 25th. I have to do it anyway, as that's our anniversary, but having everyone spurring each other on & posting updates, it might make me finish it faster.
Oh yes, I’m getting ever more freaked out by this stitching family. It can’t be coincidence that we are all so similar, we must all have been destined to be friends J. First the stitching, then the yankee candles, FB, and now the obsessive list writing. (*Holds hand up*) yes I confess it affects me too! I drive DH mad when we are going on holiday! I just loooove writing lists
Sounds like hubby is about to dish up, so I'm gonna go for now & will reply to the later messages after my bangers & mash! Yummm...Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
