Cheeky question: Does anyone have any DMC 5283? The Bang on The Door kit has literally only two blocks of this silver metalic left to do, and I thought I was done with the kit, so threw the threads away. :o

I did a quick google search as didnt know they went up that high and its been converted to E168. Unfortunatly I dont have it.

Kez you have some lovely kits there :) think you should start with the bookmark (which i love where did you get it?) as that only has a bit left to do on it. the tatty teddy one looks lovely but i have heard the back stitching on those is a pig to do lol so good luck, oh and no i don't have that thread sorry, only have a pearly metallic one

Littlestar looks like you've made good progress with that especially when you have such a lot going on!

Dorastar sounds like you have a busy night ahead!

Chicky thats a lovely design :)

Ruth remember to take some stitching tomorrow lol, its such a pain when you forget isn't it!

It was nice seeing your wedding photo so I am able put a face to the name. I got very excited when I saw the Bagpuss kit! I LOVE Bagpuss since I was a kid and have one in my car. When I get my next payment from surveys I might see if they have the kit on ebay.

It's funny that you don't even realise that you've got a mental image of what someone looks like until you see their photo. Then you think 'I didn't think they looked like that!' Or is that just me? :) I pictured *Louise* as a brunette until I saw a pic recently.

I've got 3 or 4 Bagpuss kits in my stash. Give me a nudge at the weekend & I'll have a look for you.

Hey Ruth_honey, I have to say that i do love flickr, but have been using it for years, but more for the community there than as a 'bucket' if you see what i mean.

I think it's change that I don't like! I'm still sticking to the old Yahoo mail set up rather than the newer one. It's what I'm used to, I guess.
morning all here is the bras all done

:T:T:T:j:j:j Love it!!!! Now make sure it doesn't stay in a cupboard hidden away for years...

  • Hi,

This is a two week update cos I was away at a conference the first weekend of the challenge and then out on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights when I got back.

    Here's where I started:

    WIP-Pheasant-5April2010.jpg

and here is where I am as of this evening.

    WIP-Pheasant-19April2010.jpg

I can't quite get the hang of this resizing business icon11.gif

Anyway I shall crack on - I tend to manage half an hour or so in the morning before leaving for work, and how much I get done in the evening depends on what the diary says. I have every intention of finishing it by the end of the month, but might need to get Mum to help out with the French knots.

A big round of applause and hugs to everyone - sometimes getting one stitch done in a day can be a real achievement.

    Evening all

Sorry Kez -I have just checked and I have 5289+5290 -typical isn't it ..and they are new skeins -so Im not even sure why I have them :rotfl:

Well hubby has been lay on the sofa snoring like a baby wart hog all day -he went to the med centre to get "bedded down" and the Dr. told him he could work  he has a dicky tummy (Im being polite here) and is being sick... and works in a hanger with NO toilet facilities:mad:... (never mind the fact he might pass it on)he went straight to his boss to put 2 days leave in as there is no way he can work... luckily his boss went nuts that they hadn't sent him home -so he rang the med centre and sorted it and suddenly hubby has 3 days off ;) -good job too -he can only keep sips of water down,,,, anyway where I was going with this is that it means I have only had to feed myself today :D... I have got some more sewing done (whilst sat as far away from hubby as possible :p)-will post my update in the morning

Little star -that is coming along great :T
Ruth Honey -I don't like it when I see pics of folks I know on-line as they NEVER look like they do in my head :rotfl:

right back off for a cuppa and then perhaps an early night,,,
    have a good night everyone
Just back to add -MountainAsh -that looks lovely :T

funfairprincess you must be so pleased your little on got in the mag, she is soo cute.

Wow Ruth so many UFO's. If i've got 2 cross stitches on the go I feel bad for stating a new one. Hope your jury duty is going ok.

Bubbles at school I used to listen to Metro every night, is Alan still there, he's the best talk show host i've ever listened to. Your cracking on with your angel.

ali.b.123 i'm another one loving the patchwork heart, i think little kits are the best feels like you achieve more getting them done quickly. I hate doing large charts i get bored of them.

Woke up with a sore wrist this morning, it has meant no stitching of crocheting today, moving any part of my hand or arm seems to make it hurt. No idea what ive done to it- its at the thinnest part of my wrist right in the centre. I have managed to make a start on my nan's 80th birthday card as it needs to be done by the weekend- ive embossed a flower on to parchment paper and coloured it in with pastels.

I have taken a pic of my UFO Lowery- only 1 and a half colours left now, but I cant find the camera lead.

Edit: forgot to say everyone's updates are looking brilliant.

Great progress everyone . Bubbles you're going great guns on that lady she's looking fab.
Maria that dictionary of bras looks fab are you planning on doing the others too . I hadn't noticed them till i saw yours and was taken aback by the price lol. Look worth the money though i might give in one day and buy one. Can you only get them as kits?.

Ruth_honey my sister did jury service a few months ago and was sat around almost all the time, she was bored witless.

Sorry, folks, I'm spreeing tonight but I need your help.

    This is my UFO:

    UFO-Zebra-19April2010.jpg

It comes from 'Animals in Cross Stitch' by Jayne Netley Mayhew and Nicki Wheeler. I bought the book new so it must have been about 1995/6 by the publishing date. So we are talking about 15 years off and on for this piece.

It's on 14 count aida and if I'd known then what I know now, I would have done it on evenweave cos there are so many fractional stitches in the stripes!

Now the problem - the last year or so of my grandma's life was very difficult for me as she developed dementia. She had always been immaculately dressed and had a huge personality. Watching her fade away into a dotty old lady with her dinner down her front who often didn't remember my name was very, very hard. Often when I sat with her, I would be working on this piece just to have something to do while she drowsed in her chair. So it has bad/sad vibes. Grandma died just over 8 years ago and I put it away and didn't touch it until about New Year 2009 when I got back into cross stitch. I did a bit and then discovered cross stitch magazines and started work on charts out of those. The UFO went away again and by the time I had acquired a proper stash, the UFO was deliberately put at the bottom out of sight.

Now about four weeks ago, a friend of mine had an operation which meant 4 weeks off work so I gave her a couple of cover kits to keep her occupied. I showed her what to do and during the conversation, my UFO came up and the reason why it was a UFO. She and her Mum said that I should finish it and get closure - I could always give it away. I even have some fabric with zebras on that I meant to use to make a cushion or something out of it with.

I want to finish the pheasant by the end of the month, and then I have a smallish (compared to some of you :D) list of new projects that I want to work on, beginning with John Clayton's fuschia panel.

So I want your advice - what do I do about this UFO? Any and all suggestions gratefully received.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ro

Mountain Ash i think you should try to get it done although I know it may be hard but im guessing its probably hard everytime you go into the box whhere it is, as although its at the bottom you still know its there. So maybe try and get it done and then see how you feel about it, you may decide you want to keep it. Just my opinion anyway, whatever you do im sure your Gran would understand xxx
