Hi, welcome to the thread :j
If you are just getting back into stitching, I would also recommend swopping the linen for evenweave fabric, or even aida.
Congrats on the imminent arrival:T:T:T
Hi Louise - Thanks for the tip! I may just try that as I have spent about 3 days looking at the linen trying to find holes! Do you know how I would be able to work out how large a piece of Aida I would need? Would it be the same as the piece of linen or bigger ~ I'm guessing that the holes (that I can't see!) on the linen are closer together than they are on Aida?
Meanwhile back at the ranch, I have found a UFO so may just concentrate on that - I can see the holes at least! :j Its this one here:

Still waiting for baby to come lol! She is due on 9th of May so 20 days to go yet
*Ruth_honey* - I live in Newbury Park, right near llford - more like Essex really!
I'm amazed at how neat everybody on here is when they stitch - doing each segment bit by bit! I'm terrible! I can't be bothered to thread a needle just to do a couple of stitches, so tend to do the larger areas and then am left with all the little fiddly bits.... which is probably why I never finish anything!:p:j My dream has come true - my little girl is here! 24-04-2010 :j:TClicking away for a special Christmas for my special little girl!:T

hope you are all doing OK today.
Poppet I'm loving your design.
Bubbles wow! she is lovely.
nmm your lions are coming along nicely.
last week
this week
think i need to get the finger out not a great deal done.
sweettirana I know that when using evenweave you half the number to get the count for aida. so 28 count evenweave would be 14 count aida. It will come out the same size I think as you are stitching over 2 on the evenweave and only 1 on aida.

Does it say on the packaging what 'count' the linen is? If you let us know we can convert it to aida/evenweave for the size.
Failing that, check the design size on the printed chart - once you have the HxW number of squares it will be easier to work outCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Afternoon ladies,
You all seem to have made lots of progress over the weekend :j I didn't get much stitching done unfortunately, have been working on another project for mum's birthday on Friday. Hopefully that will be finished after work this evening so I can get back to my santa.
Bubbles - That fairy is lovely, is it a kit?
Maria - yay to finishing the bras
I love looking at all your work but it makes me want to go out and buy the same patterns and kits as they are all fab!
I think I've almost decided what I'm going to do when santa is finished... I'm going to do another Christmas one from the same book and then move on to a HAED for my mum for her birthday next year. I'm sure I'll have loads of questions to put to the HAED experts on here when I start that one!
Well better get back to work, have a lovely afternoon allCross Stitch Cafe Challenger No. 26 :hello:XStitch to do list:-- Birth Sampler -- Christmas Angel -- Mum's Xmas Stitch -- Christmas decs 3 & 4 -- Xmas Bird ---- Snowflake Sonata -- Be Jolly -- JE Unicorn -- Start HAED!!! --0 -
Ruth - thanks for the tips. I'll have a look on ebay to see what's available. I got a big fabric box from Dunelm for £2.99 and was going to fill it with magazines and a few charts, but I think your idea Ruth is fab.
I managed to do some of the fishes last night, as a treat for finishing my Open Uni assignment. Didn't get much done but it certainly helped get rid of the tension!

Louise I can see what you mean about the blue on the fairy wings but as you said once its finished the colour will probably look better and the bonus is not many people will have seen the original pictureit still looks beautiful and im very impressed

Flipping heck Bubbles, you're not half cracking on with that!!!:T:T:T
haha you can tell apart from stitching and coming on here I have nothing else to do!Morning, Bubbles your cross stitch is fab - yes I do still have the pattern I can photocopy it and pop one in the post if you want to pm me your address.
Thanks that would be brilliant, I will pm my address now - it will make fantastic christmas or birthday presents for a few people I know. In return I have a cover kit from this months Cross stitch crazy which I dont want if you would like it? Its a Bentley Bear one, I also have a lickle Ted one. I dont have the patience to do all the back stitching and thanks to the kind people on here have plenty to keep me going - especially as i will be stitching the tea cup several times.23rdspiral wrote: »
hi ali.b.123 i love your patchwork heart, where was it from please? also i'm smiling as i also did the Japanese Doll :0)
woop! :T :T :T
Ali you commented yours were not as big as everyone elses and seemed poor in comparison yet in reality they are so nice everyone wants the charts!!!Bubbles - she's looking really lovey! you must be proud and slightly blind if you are mostly doing it at night!!
Update - wow this challenge thing is a good idea. i couldnt face the shame of a Second Sunday without actually even starting the kitchen motto!! so i got out all the little bits of graph paper with the words on, re-counted everything, then cut into a large bit of aieda, found the middle and just started. rather scary!! but hey, it's worth a try! So i can update that i've finished planning and have started stitching the kitchen motto!
I bought a day light bulb for my room as reccomeded on here and it made things much easier. In photos I think the aida looks funny as I was stitching one day when my nephew was here and he knocked a glitter pot over when making his mums mothers day card and it is still all over the house and it all seems to congregate on my stitching! The flash of the camera seems to pick them up when they cant be seen by the naked eye. My dog was covered in it which was rather amusing! My mum knows about it now as my dad let the car out of the bag when she complained about my still having the radio on until 5 or 6am so he told her I was stitching a large project which he bought for me to do for her. Now I can do it during the day but she isnt allowed to look, it will make it a lot easier when it comes to beading. Due to the time restraints (got to be done and framed by June 12th) I am still sitting up until about 2am (became addicted to metro radios chat show!) which is better than the 5 and 6 it was.
MrsMcawber good luck with your slimming world, someone I used to work with lost 5 stone in 7 month doing it and looked fantastic. Not sure if she managed to keep it all of as havent seen her for nearly a year now. I weigh stone so have the problem of trying to put weight on. No matter what I eat nothing works, mainly due to my ibs, so I have been referred to a dietition.
Poppet your design looks so lifelike, I would never guess it was cross stitch without knowing.
Sweetirana I bet the days to the baby coming are dragging. I know when I was going to become an Aunt for the first time when I was 13 the last month seemed to take forever, I had a chart on my wall marking down the days until the due date and my niece had the cheek to be 11 days late! She has been late for everything since too!
Maria congratulations on your lovely bras! lol. I have updated you on the challenge list. You are the first to complete the monthly challenge so extra well done!!
Sk00bie the Angel is a chart only but all of the colours have been changed from blues to reds and I changed the wings myself to metallics. If you want the chart when I am finished you are more than welcome and I could give you the colour conversion I used too.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j
