Would love any feedback-or nagging to start stitching again! LOL!
Wow that is some collection of UFO's. Is there any you don't like anymore that you would never display/use or could give away if you finished them. If you won't use them - dump them (or see if anyone on here would finish them;)).
Some of them look nearly finished, maybe you could pick 2/3 that are nearly finished and start on them, then it won't take too long to finish some and it will feel like some progress. HTH

It's by Bucilla & it's a stamped cross stitch lap quilt. This is the only place online I've managed to find it, though. http://www.anitasarts.com/bucilla-christmas-sampler-stamped-cross-stitch-lap-quilt-kit-p-129.html
I'm pretty sure my Dad bought it from QVC, but I don't think they've sold cross stitch kits for a few years now.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
I've packed hubby off to have a bath, so I can reply properly in peace!
Yes, I have a problem...my name is Laura and I'm a Gemini. I blame that fact totally for not being able to stick to one kit at a time. I have got a lot better since I've been in 'the cafe', but I obviously have a long way to go. That amount of UFOs is just crazy. And I know there's more missing...:o
I agree that making a list is a good way to go. Having the pictures on the screen has shocked me into submission anyway. I have found an empty notebook today, so I will write down the kits that I WILL do in order and work my way through them. I'm a list kinda girl anyway, so that makes sense. (it's when I start making lists of lists that I start worrying...:rotfl:)
Funfairprincess-I don't need to buy any more kits anyway. As well as all the UFOs, I have a HUGE box (I think it's 90L) which is filled with new kits. I'm sneaking guilty looks at it now!
I do need to start a new kit this week, but that's an exception because it's for our wedding annversary (8 years = linen) and it won't take long to stitch. But no more new starts, I promise...
Judellie-I honestly think that I want to stitch all of those UFOs. There are some I want to finish more urgently, but I don't think I could sell/give away any of them. Maybe some of the new kits I have in my stash, though... I would need a dozen lifetimes to stitch them all!
MRSMCAWBER-You're so right. I really DO need to get that wedding picture stitched. We're nearing 8 years since the wedding, so it's about time.
I love that you've written me a list! :rotfl:Please don't feel bad, but I don't need to stitch the pansies for Grandad and the motorbike for Grandma as Christmas presents. They are just to remember them by. Grandad passed away in 2001-he loved pansies and said they looked like they were smiling! Grandma died 2 months ago and for some reason she often asked me about that motorbike kit. I have no idea why-she didn't buy it for me, but it stuck in her head and she asked me most visits if I'd finished it yet. For that reason, I'd like to stitch it for her (even though mum bought it for me & hubby as we're both bikers).
I think finishing the kits that are mainly stitched will be a good way to spur me on, so they can get done first. And doing a christmas ornament in between will help keep my focus, as well as feeling like I'm starting new things!
The christmas quilt-as lovely as it is-will most likely be a long term project. I find stamped cross stitch harder and it's so big! I already have the backing fabric for it. My mum bought it in America for me and it's gorgeous. Christmassy & sparkly!Maybe I should aim to stitch a part of it every month or something...?
Maria and the imps-WELL DONE ON YOUR FINISH! :j:T Isn't it a great kit to stitch? I'm looking forward to seeing your pic. Any ideas how you're going to frame it? I struggled to find a frame (off the shelf) and wouldn't recommend the IKEA frame I used. It took 2 hours to frame & I cut my finger on the glass twice. Ow! If you want the cakes or boots, wink wink, nudge nudge me...;)
My UFO plan:
*To spend at least 2 days a week stitching on my Crisp Afternoon pic.
It was for Mum's 50th (3 years ago!) so it's about time I finished it. No excuses about not enough space to stitch it!
*Get the small pile of finished cross stitches framed up.
I have dozens of frames hiding all around the house, so get that iron out and blooming finish them off properly and hang them up so everyone can admire them!
*Finish 2 Christmassy designs by Christmas 2010
Not tiny little ornaments, either. Proper decent size kits that take more than an evenings work!
(just remembered another missing kit. A christmas pillow that I only had a few months ago. Where on earth have I put that???)
*Go through box of new kits and find some to sell on eBay. AT LEAST 5!
This will be hard, but I'll let you all know when I've chosen some and you can have first dibs on them.
Ok, this has become an essay, so I'll go now. Thank you all for the advice & I know you'll make me stay on the straight & narrow! :ACross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

evening all. I hope you all had a nice weekend. I haven't done as much stitching as I would like
. I But the weather has been lovely and long may it continue. I feel for all those that are affected by the flight disruption. What a nightmare for all concerned.
Ive started my christmas stitching already ! I started a penguin card yesterday which I finished today and Ive done a few stitches on an xmas tigger. If I start early then I should have plenty of cards to hand out come xmas time !
Thank you to the poster who said about the Black Sheep Sale. They have some great kits. I am been very restrained and haven't ordered anything (yet!) I do like this kit though http://www.sewandso.co.uk/cgi-bin/find/db.cgi?db=zoom&do=search_results&Prod_Code=50110&ww=1
I have posted this link because it shows the kit better. Has anyone had any experience of stitching Dimension Gold Kits ? Do the threads come pre-sorted ? I can't make up my mind about it. It would be the biggest project I would have ever attempted. Im just not sure whether it would be too big a project to undertake ? I have many UFOs that are much smaller that haven't seen the light of day in many many years !!!! What on earth would i use to hold the material also ? (I dont think I have a hoop big enough?!)
Going back to my cards, I bought back along this very thin material that you iron on to the back of your work. I can't remember what its called but one side is shiny, the other not? Which side do I iron on to the back of my cross stitch ? Im guessing the shiny side (i.e I iron over the non shiny side ?) but please correct me If Im wrong !!
In other news, the pics of all your work are looking great. :jI prefer the lighter frame for the Golden Gate Bridge pic. The black frame is too overpowering.0 -
Ruth - If there was an award for putting foot in mouth ..it would be mine
.... I did ponder if the bike was for the grandma who you had recently lost -but thought it could be for another one (sorry:o).... Well, in which case you can get that bike and the pansies done and hang them and they will make you think of your grandparents when you look at them
- I love pansies too -they look like smiling monkey faces to me (Im sure I could get therapy
)
Im another list maker too :rotfl:I have to have lists... you should see what I'm like when we are packing up to move home  -we are out of the army about october next year and I am "listing" allready :rotfl:
That wedding pic looks lovely and its well under way :T I did us one when we first got married -and we will be on our 8th anniversary this year too!
Well hubby came home from golf fine n dandy, had his roast beef dinner and has developed a dodgy tummy and has D+V -so he is asleep on the sofa and Im avoiding him like the plague-it looks like he has picked up a bug from someone as Im fine n dandy :T
Well I have "treated" myself and have subscribed to slimming world on line *boo hiss* :rotfl:I really need to shift this wobble..Im usually a WW girl but I thought a change might be the answer... I can lose weight easily, but keeping it off is another matter. I doesn't help that I qualified as a chef when I was 17 -love cooking and am a serious foodie
..still at least I have no excuse that I can't cook.... so wish me luck folks
right -enough waffle..... have a great night everyone,,,-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Sweetcarer Those wedding samplers are stunning. I can't believe they didn't take too long to stitch. Was it difficult with all the white?
Ruth_Honey I agree with mrs m start with the ones that have the least left to do and the sense of achievment as each one is finished will be enormous. Finishing them quite quickly as so much is done will hopefully spur you on to want to finish them all. You do have some stunning ones and they will be even more stunning finished.Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20
New challenge finish birth sampler by end of the month
No matter how much life knocks you down, it's your ability to get back up, brush yourself off and face your next set of challenges that makes you stronger0 -
ooh sorry Flat Eric..
I was waffling whilst you were posting ... I have done several Dimension gold kits .. I don't think any I have done have ever had the threads sorted -but they do tie them in 2 or 3 bundles ..you just need good daylight to sort them, and because you might have 4 lengths of one colour and 5 of another -it narrows down what shade it is;)
The charts are usually coloured too -black, red, blue and green -so If you want to work from copies a colour copier makes it easier...
They really are a lovely quality though,,,,
ohhhh Im back - I have found that kit cheaper :j£29.99
