Ruth well done on finishing your UFO can't wait for the final pic.:T
Louise Your stitching is lovely and I think the border is beautiful too.:T
ali.b.123 Welcome it's lovely here. When stitching with metalics I thread the same as been said by Louise and I also damp a tea cloth and run it down the thread before stitching that helps too.
Look what the postie brought for me today
5 packs of linen and a little design booklet from a win in cross stitcher mag. Need to put a lotto ticket on just in case my good luck is running in 3's :T:T:TI'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -
Afternoon ladies, everyone's updates are looking great, keep up the good work :T. Louise I love the border idea, it really stands out and makes the picture.
I've tried to post an update, sorry if it's massive, it's my first attempt at using photobucket. Hope it worked. We've now got backstitched eyes and noses, just all the edges to go and the hideous horrible French knots.
Right, sun is shining, ds is sat happily watching the local derby on tv (come on city!!!). I feel an afternoon of stitching coming on, oh happy day
Hi to all new posters, welcome and nice to meet you all.:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -
Simac I adore that pic, well done on getting so close to finishing it :j cant wait to see the end result.....I can see me adding that one to my to do list lol
Well done my shopping, gardens finished :T only got hoovering, dusting and ironing to do before I can start stitching
Better get a move on then!0 -
Morning
......I'm still looking for a wedding sampler for my friends daughter, love the tatty teddy ones, but I know the backstitch is tedious so been looking for something else...has anyone done any of these before?

These three are the ones I like best so far. .....
I love the first one, it's very sophisticated. The second one is pretty, so I guess it depends on the type of people the happy couple are. Sorry, not keen on the 3rd sampler, too sentimental for me.
Let us know what you finally decide on.

Glad it was useful. What charts are you planning on buying???
I decided to dig out my box of kits and see if any of my UFOs were in amongst the unopened kits. I'm mainly hoping to find my Calendar Bears and the Country Companions engagement sampler I started, but the more I think, the more UFOs I remember and I can't find them! I did find a fair few kits in the box that I've started. Tried to take photos, but the camera died after the first pic, so will have to borrow hubby's camera.
Also annoyed because I found evidence that the mice had been by the box. It's kept on a shelf unit in the spare room, but on the bottom shelf, so only a couple of inches from the floor. Thank goodness they're all in a sealed plastic box so the little b*%%ers hadn't managed to get into it and nibble on on the fabric. Now that would've got me mad!!! There is a new latch hook rug kit on that shelf, which I haven't checked yet. Too scared to move it in case something is lurking behind it. So, I still have some kits missing, which is bugging me. It's not like I live in a huge house, so they can't be far away. They must be in the living room somewhere (hope not, as that's where we keep catching the mice!) or in the bedroom, which is VERY messy & it could take months to find them!
It made me realise I have a stupid amount of kits to stitch. I felt quite deflated going through them all, actually. There's a lot of big ones too. I'm much better about buying new stash now (honestly!). I really do ask myself if I *need* to buy it and if I'm really going to stitch it, or am I just buying it because it's cheap. But there's so many kits I have that I love & really want to stitch & there's just not enough hours in the day. Or days in the week! Maybe I should go through the box and be harsh with myself and the ones I really think I could part with, stick on ebay and try to earn myself some money so I can buy my hubby an ipod for his 50th in November. Just have to be in the right frame of mind to have a clear out!

New challenge finish birth sampler by end of the month
No matter how much life knocks you down, it's your ability to get back up, brush yourself off and face your next set of challenges that makes you stronger0 -
pm2326 I prefer the first one too 'Married couple'
Louise, sweetcarer and simac....your projects are coming along great.
I'm a little disappointed today. Decided on the 'no place like home' kit so got the photocopying done and started to sort the threads. I sorted most of them but I have found myself with 1 too many shades of green, a coral colour that isn't on the chart at all and I seem to be missing a shade of terracotta!!
I'm not going to let it put me off though. I'm going to do what I can with the colours I am sure of then fill in the gaps with DMC threads (the threads that come with it aren't a brand I have heard of)
I might even try calling the company listed on the paperwork but it's not a big place like DMC or Anchor so for all I know they don't exist anymore but it costs nothing to try I guess.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Evening everyone.... hope you are all having a good weekend,,,
Lots more lovely work going on folks...well done :T
Glad those nudge nudge wink winks have started to arrive at last...not sure what bloomin route they took though to take that long :rotfl:
*Louise* -Your sewing is looking lovely -but I can see what you mean about the colours (they don't seem quiet true to the picture ) but you have been spoilt by how accurate your lady by the lake was... is there suposed to be kreinlik blending fillament blended with the colours -to give it that extra shimmer? If you want to highlight the dress straps -you could alway use some of the kreinlik(if you have some) and just try doing a half stitch with it over the dmc colours (/ or \ sort of half -not fractional ...hope that ramble makes sense :rotfl:
PM2326 -I prefer the first wedding pic too ..I think the 2nd one will date/age quickly and the 3rd one -I love but i think its more of a definite taste than the 1st one
Well I am back to the 1 of this and 1 of that stitching again... so things have slowed down a little but Im still enjoying it
ooohh I ordered the threads I need for the next 4 proojects... only had to order 100 threads as I checked my files and I have the other 140 :T .... ooohh and to top it all when we nipped out earlier I popped into the NAAFI and hubby put his loose change in the bandit (anything to avoid going into the shops) and he won another €210 :T-so thats his golf comp fees etc covered for the month and €60 each for us :j(im NOT going to buy any more supplies though -honest)
....
right back to some sewing..have a great evening everyone-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50
