Hi All!
New to this thread, but have just spent about the last hour reading through some of the posts... some wonderful projects and tips!
I used to stitch about 5 years ago then I decided to train as an accountant and just didn't have the time................ anyways now I am weeks away from having my first baby (a girl!) and am on maternity leave, so have a bit more time (she says!)
Someone bought me a DMC Born Free kit of dolphins but it is on linen - I'm looking at it in shock horror at the moment! How do you go about cross stitching on these?? I can't even see any holes??!
Help!:j My dream has come true - my little girl is here! 24-04-2010 :j:TClicking away for a special Christmas for my special little girl!:T
Total banked so far................ £265.970 -
Shelly-My vote is for No place like home too. I like the birdhouses & it's nice & colourful for summer.
Sweettirana-Where abouts in London do you live? If you don't want to stitch on linen, why not swap the fabric for evenweave, or possibly even aida?
Hoping to finish Golden Gate bridge today. The cross stitch part, that is anyway. I will wash it before doing the back stitching. There's not much of it, but there's some long stitch too, so think it would be easier to wash it first. I was hoping to finish it yesterday, but a friend popped over & we ended up chatting & watching Marley & Me. She was very impressed with how much I'd stitched, though.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Hi, welcome to the thread :j
If you are just getting back into stitching, I would also recommend swopping the linen for evenweave fabric, or even aida.

Welcome sweettiranaSorry I have no idea about stitching on Linen I have a bit in my box but I've never been brave enough. I'm sure someone will know how to though.
My grand total for my stitching today has been about 10 stitches. I have spent all afternoon out shouting at the friends of the kids next door who have been firing metal ball bearings out of guns in the back garden:mad: they had the cheek to ask what my problem was.........eh? you!
I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -
Hello everyone, great updates! I’ve had a busy and expensive week (car service & MOT), and haven’t done any stitching
(though have done a little patchwork sewing but that’s on another thread!).
Update: I’ve planned out my kitchen motto, but am having trouble actually starting it! I’m scared I’ve not charted it right, and that the words will be lost in the middle. Ho hum.
Ruth-Honey – bravo on getting back on the Wii, and on loosing 5 pounds!! That’s fantastic! (and reminds me I am very overdue a session or 30!!)
Mrs McCawber, how nicely put! “a calm relaxed sense of wellbeing and a lovely stress free atmospehere.”
Maria and the Imps – great news about your bras!
FunFairPrincess – congratulations on being featured in the magazine!!
Shelly - your fushia fairy looks really lovely. she really looks like she's dressed in the flower.:T i actually love all 3. the only difference i can think of is which colour are you most wanting to spend time looking at? blue alone? blue and yellow? or a total mixture?
Hello to Sk00bie and KathrynRobson! and Sweettriana too!
Re other things people are talking about: I have a large ‘cotton’ yankee candle which I take the lid off and it makes the bathroom smell lovely. Other than that I have a couple of primark scented glass jar candles and they work really well if you are on a budget. For atmosphere though, I usually light inscence.
Facebook: I go though phases, but as I’m not being given enough to do at work at the moment (and I have asked for more!) I’m checking facebook quite a bit. Actually, I was very very naughty and took screen shots of the last 5 pages and have read them and typed these comments out at work, and added a little now and posted – better than falling asleep I reckon!!
have a great weekend everyone - i've friends coming round really soon so better get my hair dry and get properly dressed!!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Yes, that's right...it's almost done! I've just put in the last cross stitch on my UFO. :j:j:j I'm going to wash it either tonight or tomorrow, then I can finish it totally. Will post a pic a bit later. Have a headache coming on now, so will give my eyes a break for a while. Yeah me, though! :TCross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

It's Friday and it's stitching night woohoo! Am going to try to get a lot of the faffy background under the fairies done tonight while slobbing, drinking (tea) and watching ashes to ashes - a perfect night
My vote is for the no place like home cos you could zoom on with the blue and yellow edges really quickly and it is a cheerful pic.
Welcome to any newbies and sorry no idea about linen, have looked at it in the past and I can't see the holes either!Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Another vote for the sunflowers here Shelly.
Feeling quite a bit better now ladies, thanks. Think the antibiotics are starting to work finally. Now just need to encourage baby to sleep. 2nd tooth is just below the surface so she is very cuddly at the moment. I am absolutely loving the excuse for cuddles but it does mean that the vest has been on the back burner for a bit. Only got the bears feet and the back stitch left to do though so not far off.
New baby due a week today so really need to pull my finger out. Got 2 whole days at home now though so hoping I can catch up during nap time.
xxxxxCross Stitch Challenge member 11 - May challenge well under way

Hello ladies:wave:, hope you dont mind me popping in but I normally post on the making cards but have been doing more and more little cs projects (and I mean small - they only take a night or two;)) I have too many big ufo's that I know will never get done!!! Anyway, sorry to waffle but was after a bit of advice and wondering if anyone can help... I am doing a little cross stitch using a metallic gold thread (for a golden wedding card) and I am using it like a normal thread but it is a nightmare and keeps splitting - has anyone any experience of this and should I be doing something different??? Thanking you in advance xx (been looking at the last couple of pages and there is some gorgeous makes:T)0
