Thanks for the link. They look quite reasonable and I'm sure I can talk my mum into taking a drive to Coventry one day, so I can collect the frames instead of paying P+P. ;)

That’s actually quite good. I think I’m way up into the 100s. DS tells me off every time he goes on it because my little mii is usually snoring (she’s so bored waiting for me to go back on) :rotfl:. Well done for losing 5lb !

Thank you! :D I was very pleased, as I thought if anything I had gained some. Need to get back into swimming, but don't like going in the school holidays as it's full of kids. :p

Also, my future mother-in-law is into cross stitch and I'm going to do her a hamper for Christmas. Any ideas on what to put in it/

How about some treats? Perhaps things she wouldn't think to buy for herself. Hand dyed fabric or threads, Thread Heaven (fab if she ever uses metallics), a pretty pin cushion, gold or platinum plated needles, a washable pen, bead nabber???

I have a thread a little further down the page, still trying to source the items I need first :)

I hadn't realised they were in Coventry. I think it might actually be the stall at the market that I've been using for ages. The man there is lovely and the frames are better and cheaper than anywhere else. A specially made one is hardly more expensive than a standard size one.

ahh just snapped my hoop in 2 places !!!

Oh no! Do you have a spare hoop? Don't want to have to waste time waiting for a new one to arrive.

Had a good day stitching, got all of the main x's done and the half stitches of the background. Then onto the dreaded french knots :o I watched the tutorial again and tried a couple and they came out great. After the first 2 though it all went to pot. Just couldn't get them right and the more I tried the worse it got. The fabric and surrounding stitches were starting to look like they had had enough so I decided to do a cross then add another line so that they look like this star *. They look good so I have a few more of them to do tomorrow then it's onto backstitching...then I'm done :T
I just cannot get the hang of french knots at all! I've tried so many times, but my success rate is very poor. If I can, I'll substitute the knot with a bead, but sometimes you just can't. When I finally get around to stitching on the Winnie The Pooh millenium kit, it has french knots in metallics!

Could well be. Maybe you should ask him next time you're there? I think I'll have to get the Golden Gate bridge one framed in a special frame as it's 11cm X 30.5cm, so it's an odd size.

What day is the market on? It might be easier to collect the frame from the market stall if it is the same company. And if you live locally, maybe we could meet up for a cuppa? ;)

It's the largest indoor market in the UK and it's on every day - but their hours are a bit unpredictable. They seem to just close when it gets quiet. It's much safer to come in the mornings as they are often closed by 2.

I'm back to work tomorrow but if I'm available when you come up then a drink somewhere could be nice. It's always nice to put faces to the names that you feel you know!

elliep-It might not be for a while anyway. I live in London, and mum is in Gloucester, but when I visit, she does tend to take me out on drives and Coventry wouldn't be too bad to drive to. I know we've driven to Birmingham before & she'll go anywhere where there's a chance of shopping! ;) We might even find a cheap Travelodge & make a weekend of it. I will let you know when it comes up. If you go to the stall, could you please ask them if they are the same company? Thanks.

    Hello everyone,

I've been reading over this thread the last few days and all I can say is wow! The work you all do is amazing! And those H & E designs are so beautiful! I found myself seriously distracted by the designs on various websites but I can't (or shouldn't!) buy any new charts until I've finished my current UFOs.

I'm working on a Christmas design I started for my parents for last Christmas. Unfortunately I only started three weeks before so am aiming to have it done by Christmas 2010. When I get home from work I'll try and get pics up, if I've got enough posts that is! :D

That project has been on the back burner for a few weeks though as I've been doing Easter cards from the little Hobbycraft kits. Have some other crafty projects on the go too... there really are never enough hours in the day for a cross stitcher/crafter!
