re ebay, we should also keep away from sellers who sell computer generated charts but have no license to actual sell them, therefore are illegal.

I came across a very useful article on ebay about this, see below
    - for some reason I can't add the link to my post - leave no space before and after //

Believe me I have tried getting out of it already :rotfl:

Oh well. At least you know for sure that you were right to pay up and remember NOT to do it again! If you're a Yankee candle fan, have you seen this site? http://www.yankeedoodle.co.uk
They have some great offers on every month.

Everyones piccies are looking fab by the way, I'm holding out on posting a piccy. The end is so near I can almost see it LOL

I bet you're so excited to be so close to the end! Don't rush it and make mistakes, though. I've been known to do that.

I'm trying to do something more productive today. I have a ton of washing to do :(, a very messy house and goodness knows how many things that need sorting before jury service next week. So today I'm going to TRY and get something other than stitching done. Yesterday I forgot to eat breakfast until noon! :)

    Hi Ruth.

Thanks for the link but yes I have seen it. Saw a grabbit at the weekend that was about yankee candles in b&q and someone posted the link.
I'm a kind of 'yankee candle fan from a distance' Hubby doesn't like candles lit around the house because I am clumsy and would probably knock them over :o but when I went to mums on thurs I mentioned the beauticians were selling them and I wanted to get 1 or 2 but would have to wait because of the ticket cost.
Mum is a yankee fan too so she game me one of her medium jars to cheer me up :) I can't knock it over because the jar is stable so hubby didn't mind me lighting it....lol
Have to say though I had it lit nearly all day on sunday and could only smell it when I got close to the candle itself. It didn't fill the house with scent as it should have :(
Maybe a bigger one would have been better?
Once I have saved my £60 again I think I'll buy a couple of 'candles of the month' because they are quite cheap for yankees.

Morning (nearly afternoon) everyone. I didn't get on the internet last night so didn't post my update but hopefully tonight.

I ordered this chart on ebay last week and it arrived this morning but they had also included 3 free charts. They have a blog site here with a few more free charts. Some of them are quite pretty and they look easy for any beginners.

I would like to do the clearning day sampler and the washing day sampler both for my kitchen.

I also meant to say yesterday that I had discovered a box of old cross-stitch magazines one of them dating back to 1999:eek:. There were some lovely designs in them but for some reason most relate to Christmas. I did find the most beautiful 12 days of Christmas sampler which I might have a go at and one of red squirrels. Actually I spent a few hours oohing and ahhing about which ones I'd like to do - heaven!!

    oooohhh you are wicked :rotfl:
Yankee candles are my other weakness ---running a very close 2nd to x-stitching :p.. at the moment I have 27 of the large jars dotted around the living room :o ... I packed all the winter smells up after xmas.. and Im now building up a stock ready to bring back to the uk when we finish in the army -I wait for the fragrances to change as the NAAFI do 2 large jars for €22 -instead of €17 each :D

Whatever you do folks NEVER EVER get the spice pumpkin _pale_ -it smelly like a curry house...trust me ;) -I might have to go and have a look at that offer :naughty:

Taz-its strange you mentioning that about e-bay... I googled the name of the "designer" of my "golden earth" at the weekend, hoping to find more of them and what came up was along the lines of that link you posted -it seems she is quite well known for charting artists work without pemission :o-although in my defence I didn't know, and I have had the chart for 5 years....
Mummipig-well done on getting it done.. it looks great :T

right -off to get some sewing done-have a great day everyone

    Hi Ruth_Honey,

I second that, yankee doodle is one of my favourite websites (after MSE of course!!!). I’ve had loads of the housewarmer jars from there. I can thoroughly recommend coconut bay, buttercream, black cherry and candied apple. My next one is sweet strawberry, mmmmmmm I’m looking forward to lighting that one, it smells good enough to eat. :rotfl:Reading that back, I sound like I have a food addiction, all the candles I've ever bought smell like food!

I do tend to only buy the fragrance of the month or the 3 large jars for £40 offer. Its great when that offer is on, I buy one for me and 2 for presents!

Shelly, with regards to knocking the candles over. I have a large jar with a shade on top. The shade looks beautiful because you can see the light from the candle, and even though I am a great big clumsy clutz, I have never knocked it over. The large jars do smell fantastic, in my opinion they are stronger smelling than the samplers (though I can't really vouch whether they smell better than the smaller jars).

Back to stitching, I promise not to rush the backstitch. I’m made it this far, would hate to ruin it now. I think I may swap to a sharper needle though, it’s jolly tough to push through when they are fiddly inbetween ones. Just glad it’s not as bad as the forever friends one I did last year, now that was a nightmare for backstitching!!!!

Don’t forget, stitching is productive and therapeutic, just do that and leave the housework :)
:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:

I find this with all candles, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Unless someone says to the contrary I wouldn't spend more money on larger ones as I suspect that you would suffer the same problem.

No stitching last night (can't you tell when you are back home), but hoping to get some done over the next week or so. :o
