    Evening ladies.

Thanks for the parking fine commiserations.
I tidied up/sorted out my stash this evening and have sooooo many kits that I want to do next but couldn't decide on a final one :o
I have been designing a couple of bookmarks so might do those for a bit of fun and see how they turn out.

Thats a really doog idea ruth, when I come to think of it I am pretty sure we have old lamp in the garage, it doesnt bend or anything but might fit on the shelf about my bed. Thanks for that.

I went to a charity shop on the way back from the park and they had an envelope for 20p which said various cross stitch/embroidery needles and I am always losing needles so thought I would get it. When I got it home it had a pebble of tapestry needles which I dont like, they are too long for me, and also 47 proper cross stitch needles like the ones that come in little packets with kits, most of these are DMC, and also a set of various sized sewing needles. So if anyone needles needles you know where to come!!

I have an old floor lamp that belonged to my husband that I've 'borrowed' and put a daylight bulb in. Works a treat!

If you need a home for a few needles, I'd be happy to send you an SAE for a few. If you're sure you don't mind...:)

I've just finished some sunflowers and nearly done with some peonies but I need to wash them to get the washable ink lines out - first time I've used the pen and I'm scared in case it isn't really "wash-out". I'll put some pictures up later in the week.

I was suprised how easily the washable pen marks came out when I used them. I marked the fabric in February & didn't finish stitching the kit until August, but yet they rinsed out perfectly in cold water. No need to add anything at all.

Still catching up with my replies. On page 102 now...:D

Oh, before I forget, I found the 'Everyone brings Joy' chart over the weekend, so I'll be stitching that next. :j

I nearly had a disaster last night, could not put my stitching down (apparently due to elevated bi polar) so was stitching away at 6 with my ipod on when all of a sudden my mum appeared in the room! I jumped a mile and tried to throw my duvet over the angel but in the process ended up throwing a open thread box across the room, half showering my mum and 2 ending up in the dogs water bowl!!! so I have 2 threads drying on the radiator, hopefully they will be ok but luckily one I had finished with and one only has 5 stitches left to do which Im sure can be salvaged. I told her I was working on a card kit and lied that I got a shock as I had been singing along to ipod! She seemed to buy it, I hope.

Oh no!!!! I was in a similar situation with some stitching I did for my mum a couple of months ago. She came in about 3 times while I was stitching & I kept having to hide it under the blanket.

Ruth - I really like that design, it's something which would catch my eye as well

Thank you. I love San Francisco & can't wait to go back there again in November!

I got quite a bit done so Im a happy bunny.... and Im thrilled with how realistic she is looking :T-I think this is going to be my favourite finished piece :D....

To top this weekend -hubby was golfing and stuck €2 in the slot machine in the club house and won €140 ...and came home and gave me half -with instructions that "it was to be spent on *me* things and not just for general stuff" -so me thinks it might have to go towards threads :rotfl:

She's coming along so quickly! I'm very impressed.
Congrats on your hubby's win. Very nice of him to tell you to buy something for yourself. Have fun spending!

Shelly-any chance that you can get out of the ticket? There's some info on MSE somewhere that says a lot of parking tickets are not legal, so you might not have to pay. A long shot, I know, but worth looking into if it might save you £60. Good luck.

My eye is starting to twitch now, so think it's time to come off the computer. Just wanted to say welcome to all the new members. They're flooding in now! Maybe word has got out about how lovely the coffee is...;)
    Night night all! x

Thanks Taz82. Never thought of checking on EBay. Will have a look now. And I will make sure to check their feedback before I make any bids

Believe me I have tried getting out of it already :rotfl:

On the day I got the ticket I read alot of posts here on MSE and motoring forums that advised that private parking tickets are unenforceable and to ignore them.
I felt uncomfortable doing this without advice so I phoned a local solicitor (well 2 really just to make sure the first advice was right) and they both said that legally the private parking tickets are enforceable because by entering the carpark and parking up I agreed to their terms that are signposted around the carpark.
However, if I didn't pay up the only way they could get their money would be by taking me to small claims court which wasn't very likely as it would cost more to go to SCC than the fine was worth.
We (hubby and I) really didn't want to take the chance so I paid up and got the reduced fine.
One of the solicitors also said that a few of their colleagues had got caught out in the same carpark so if there was a way out of paying up they would know about it :D
It's just so frustrating that it's a car park I use every time I go into town and I KNOW I have to get a ticket even though it's free.
Equally frustrating is that I only went into town to have my eyebrows waxed and had I not been admiring the Yankee Candles for sale in the beauticians I go to I wouldn't have got the ticket at all because I was finished well before the time on the ticket :o

Oh well, no point crying over spilt milk.....I'm off to bed now after that essay :rotfl:

Thanks for thinking of me though

Ebay is great for cross stitch bargains ! I am always * finding * stuff to buy / bid on :j even though I have enough kits to keep me going until the year dot :rotfl:

A warning though, make sure you read the description fully ! the item might appear a real bargain i.e. you might see a picture of that kit you are after but then find that its only the chart that you get. Also I have noticed recently someone selling 3 small kits that clearly came free with cross stitch publications for close to £10 plus postage

Mention of stuff coming from smoke free home is always good too.
and be warned also re the mags as sometimes these can be vastly overpriced ? (£8.50 odd) for something that is still available in the shops for half the price ?!

    Morning everyone,

Back at work, so not got as much stitching done as I'd like, but . . . (drum roll please!) . . . all full and half stitches are now done on the polar bears :j:j:j Just got 5 different colours of backstitch and the dreaded french knots left to tackle

I'm loving this challenge, I've never been so motivated. I agree with whoever said we should do one each month. Though goodness knows what would be my next challenge. I'll never get my Nightmare before Christmas pic finished in a month :rotfl:Oooh though my wonderful hubby has bought me a twisty portable daylight lamp (as well as the frame I've been drooling over) for my birthday so stitching on the black should hopefully be a bit easier now. :T

Everyones piccies are looking fab by the way, I'm holding out on posting a piccy. The end is so near I can almost see it LOL
:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:

^^^^^totally agree ^^^^^^ also if buying cover kits make sure they have the chart with them as most of them don't and you have to work them from the picture:eek: I've seen a few bad feedback given to sellers for that.

Funfair Princess - Glad everything arrived safely. :) There are so many pages; just drop me a PM if I've missed anything, or if something doesn't make sense!

Bubbles - I was diagnosed with manic depression aged 14 (I'm now 30). Before we found the right levels of meds, I had a seriously bad shopping habit with no regard to the financial consequences - apparently this is quite a common thing! Hopefully you can move forward with your life now you know what's going on. :) Strange how so many of us here suffer or have have suffered with depression. Cross stitch is obviously a useful remedy!

Thanks Misty you may regret saying that though:rotfl:
I too have manic depression and have had the nasty shopping habbit. I'm more or less able to keep it in check now although I'm known to lapse normally when I'm not taking my meds:o Isn't cross stitch wonderful it helps depression, brings us all together and gives purpose to my shopping habbit:D;).

I'm loving all the pictures I find them such boost. they make me want to stitch all day though and I don't think my kids would like that much.

I'm off to do some housework before I get the kids ready for the holiday club at church that way I may be able to do some stitching this afternoon while the kids play outside that's if the rain stays away.

    happy stitching everyone.
    I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged
