If no one minds i think i'll join your challenge . I have a ufo in shades of purple it's not very big just annoying. So i'll try and complete it and the backstitch . I did pick it up and do a little more yesterday but here's a pic and what it should look like here .Cross Stitch Challenge Member Number 20

Bubbles911 wrote: »hi again everyone. Well I will be posting the challange list up again on sunday and it will be interesting to note everyones progress. I am hoping to get stitching done tonight after not doing much for a couple of days. I persuaded my brother and sister in law to go to Hobby craft on their way to Newcastle today and get me the thread I needed, as I only needed that colour to finish half of the pattern so will be stitching tonight. He also got me a needle threader as a gift, I have used the little metal ones before but this is blue plastic and does 3 different kinds of threads, I had never seen this before but as I only do cross stitch I expect it is just an expensive version of the little silver ones! I have pretty much always been able to thread needles by myself, I have pretty good eyesight.
The back of my work is the neatest I have ever done so I might take a photo of that to show you all too, I have never bothered with how the back of my work looks before but since I saw someone post an ark on here and the back was immaculate I have started paying more care to it.
Anyway thats me for today, happy stitching everyone, no doubt I will be up until the early hours again! Could do with one of those day lamps which was discussed so starting saving now!
Could you just buy a daylight bulb for a lamp you already have? That would be much cheaper. :money:Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

I used to use the metal needle threaders but they seem to be quite flimsy and easily broken these days. I now use ones that are very similar to the silver ones but have a plastic bit to hold onto rather than the big silver bit....if that makes sense? lol
I don't use the needle threader when my thread is long but I find them invaluable when the thread is short and keeps slipping out of the eye of the needle because I try to get as many stitches as I can from a length of thread.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. Your welcome, i wasn't sure if i was the last to know and it was just something i'd missed but the amount of thanks for the post suggests quite a few of us didnt know about it.Bubbles911 wrote: »hi again everyone. I havent joined the challenge as i cant see my getting the blooming woolly tapestry done by then- especially as i cant find the instructions so i dont know how many strands to use for the backstitch- and what the code is for each backstitch colour. Lucky I copied the chart and wrote the main colour symbols down, so i can atleast get the main part of the stitching done.
As for the lamp thing I agree with what Ruth said;Ruth_honey wrote: »Could you just buy a daylight bulb for a lamp you already have? That would be much cheaper. :money:
I bought one years ago in Hobby Craft in Warrington, it cost about £3 at the time, so still expensive for a bulb, but cheaper than a whole lamp. I used it in one of those flexible desk lamps everyone had before halogen lamps came out. It was better than a normal tungsten bulb but here at home I have a halogen spot lamp on my wall and thats better than the daylight lamp for me.
You could have had my bulb but I think its in the garage loft as my dad needed a light to see to store all my uni stuff and it was the nearest one. But in Hobby Craft their downstairs in the isles somewhere between the tapestry/ felting stuff and the sewing bits and bobs- not sure exactly where as they've had a bit of a move around. I think i've saw them in Fenwicks and John Lewis before also.I used to use the metal needle threaders but they seem to be quite flimsy and easily broken these days. They're what I use, the metal bit on the metal ones might as well be tinfoil, and the threader bit just seems to slip out where as the plastic ones are a bit better.
But the one Bubbles is on about is this, i was looking at them the other day, but couldnt figure out if it was worth the extra cost, as i didnt know it the "hooks" would fit though a cross stitch needle and I can see the metal loop only lasting as long as the "normal" plastic threaders.0 -
Can someone please help me???
I'm having real difficulties in finding a chart that I really want to do as part of my dad and step mums Xmas present. Im making them a join 'love in' hamper and wanted to add this to it - Im his eldest daughter and the only person (bar his parents) who seem to approve of his new wife/family so I wanted to make them something special.
From what I can remember seeing this is the description of it.
Its on white/cream aida.
There is the word 'LOVE' written in a sort of peachy / pale orange colour
Sure there is some silver back stitching as a border around the edge and the option to add names and dates of recipients underneath.
I've seen it done by someone but cant find the thread its on or even what site!

Morning Ladies, the sun is shining yet again here and I have been so busy this morning as we are off to see my daughter and granddaughters for a few days later.
I haven't achieved much on my stitching this week, probably about 200 stitches, so I'm hoping to get a bit done before we go.
MrsM, your new charts are lovely. When you do your HAE's do you keep them for yourslef or give them away? I couldn't bear to part with this one I'm doing.
For those ladies who are teaching their children to stitch, good on you. I taught one of my sons when he was about 9 and when my mum died we popped a little owl picture that he had stitched her in her coffin. I also taught my daughter to stitch, she's now 12 and every now and again she'll do a new project.
Well, I'm going to pop off now and get a few x's on that evenweave! ta ta for now. x£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
Hi all :j Happy 100
I haven't been here for ages so was suprised when I saw Spottybutterfly's pics - couldn't believe it when I saw the Bothy canvas as it's exactly the same design that one of the girls at the craft club was trying to give me last week, I didn't fancy working with tapestry so another friend took it but I think she's regretting it as she can't get on with painted canvas. Already had to unpick some of it. What she does like is the fact that the kit comes with extra charts for embroidery as well as crosss stitch, so she might ditch the canvas and xstitch it instead.
How are you getting on with it?0 -
