If anyone else would like the blue washable pen I have just let me know your address and it's yours.
It seems a shame to have it just sitting here knowing I won't use it.
As I said before in other post.....I'll be honest and say that even though I haven't used it, it's been sitting there doing nothing so might not be as dark as if it was brand new. Also it's not in it's original packaging, I took it out of that long ago but I do have the instructions that came with it.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Have been doing more of the flower fairy as I know that as soon as term starts next week I will have hardly any time at all:( She is very easy to stitich and coming on really nicely but all the flower heads at the top are french knots:eek:. I have done lots of these before but haven't done any stitching for about a year so am out of practice so think I will practice on a bit of waste fabric first. I looked in my bead box to cheat and use beads instead and I haven't got any in the 4 colours I need so I will just have to get on with the knots.
Bubbles well done on your achievement and for your thoughfulness for others, something a lot of people seem to forget as they are so often obsessed with themselves.
dorastar hope you had a good night and are feeling better
maria hope grandad is feeling better soon
I am resisting all talk of Poundland! I am on a mission to use up all kits and aida as I prefer evenweave. I went a bit mad on the spending front when I first got into stitching and have loads of quite easy kits on aida which are nice and easy to stitch, which is nice sometimes, but I like the look of stitching on evenweave, think it looks better framed. Hope that didn't sound patronising as it wasn't what I intended.
Can't remember who it was who was going to stitch on linen but let me know how that goes, another thing I would like to try but unsure how to do it. Do you stitch over the same number of threads as on evenweave?
Has anyone any experience of teaching kids to stitch? I have taught 11 year olds at school but my son is 5, quite bright, and wondered if anyone had taught anyone this age or if I should wait until he is a bit older?
Have a nice day, lots of lovely light to stitch by today so hope you all get some done!

Hi Thrifty, I’ve had a go at teaching my 7 year old how to stitch. He’s always asking what I’m doing and can he have a go so I thought why not! He’s not tried a full picture on his own but I’ve let him do rows of stitches on birthday cards. That way when we hand the card out he can say he helped. He did a card for me for mother’s day, no picture, he just backstitched the word MUM (and most of that he went over 2 holes instead of 1) but I was mega mega proud of him for attempting it. He got help mounting it onto a card, and it’s one I’ll treasure forever. So sorry for waffling, in answer to your question, if the 5 year old is interested in what you are doing, I’d say yes give it a go.
Hi Bubbles, don’t put yourself down, that wasn’t little it was a huge achievement that must have taken a lot of courage! Well done, you should be very proud of yourself.
Louise, your picture is beautiful, I love it! Only 22 days left? Better get my bum in gear, I didn’t manage any sewing last night, I must try harder tonight.
Maria, glad your granddad is feeling better, hope they let him home soon. Have fun at the zoo, I’ve not been to a zoo in ages, think I’ll have to plan a trip to Chester sometime soon.
23rdspiral, I think you’d get a few takers on the 99p store buy and send. We don’t have a 99p store anywhere nearby and our poundland is a bit pants for cross stitch stuff (though I must admit I will be going in at weekend to have a proper rummage to make sure I haven’t missed anything LOL).
Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, all the UFOs look great! Keep up the good work everyone.:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -
Thrifty, I used plastic canvas, plastic needle and some wool to teach my 4 yr old grandson, he ended up stitching a car with lots of patience from me!0

Thifty I'm teaching Piper (5) and Austen(11) to stitch have already taught Dean when he was about 8. Piper is picked it up on problem. I got her a kit with huge holes and you use wool instead of thread and she is making good progress. Don't know where you'd get one of the kits though as I got it at a craft fair for Dean but he never did it as he just started doing my cover kits instead!
Little hedgehog is coming on I have started some of the tweeding but realised I used the wrong colour for a couple of stitches last night as I was a bit tired so I will undo those today and do them properly. Thats 3 times I have been stitching and watching waking the dead and 3 times I have fell asleep and never seen the ending  Will try better today!
Happy stitching everyoneI'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -

I havent got much stitching done but get this, I went out today! I went to Dainty Toys to get a DMC thread I have ran out of and they had every colour but the one I needed, typical! Im gonna try and substitute a different shade for it. My mum bumped into a neighbour when she was hanging out washing and she cares for her husband who had a stroke and was complaining he only drinks one kind of juice and can only get it from Asda a few miles away and she has no transport and cant leave him so as asda isnt far from Dainty Toys I offered to go for her. I chickeed out of going in though, I stayed in the car with the dog while my parents went in but I was starting to think I would never be capable of that so although it was only something little I feel proud of myself for the first time in ages. So I didnt get the thread I needed but I did get one of the fabric markers which were discussed on here and am happy with that.
Bubbles-Well done!!! :T Take it one step at a time. You'll get there.:)Can't remember who it was who was going to stitch on linen but let me know how that goes, another thing I would like to try but unsure how to do it. Do you stitch over the same number of threads as on evenweave?
That was me. I've stitched a card on linen before. This one... (click to view larger pic)
It wasn't too bad to stitch. It's sort of like evenweave, but the threads are 'slubby'. You stitch over 2, but it gives a more vintage feel to it as it's a bit wonky. That sounds terrible! :rotfl: It does come out fine, but I think it takes a bit longer to make the stitches lie right.23rdspiral wrote: »ooh, Ruth, these are really nice! i like Everyone Brings Joy best! good luck with your choice.
Thanks. I think I'm leaning more towards stitching Everyone Brings Joy. I can't remember where I put the chart now...! I know I've seen it recently. Maybe the spare room needs a good clear out!
Not sure how much stitching I'll get done today. I'm off out later to meet my Mum & her boyfriend. We're going out to dinner with my hubby, then hopefully going on the London Eye. Got quite a lot done stitched yesterday, though. The day flew by & I was suprised when I looked at the clock & it was 6pm! Will have to take a photo later and post it here so you can see how I'm getting on.
Have a great day-whatever you're up to!Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
