To be honest though I think one of the charts is slightly wrong. The hair on one of the fairies is meant to be pale brown with darker brown highlights. The symbols for the hair though relate to a mucky green colour! I have noted on the symbol guide to use just the darker brown for the hair and forget the mucky green :rotfl:

Further to this post I made in February.....talking about the Fuschia Fairy....I have no idea how I came to imagine 'mucky green' was involved in the hair colour! I had forgotten all about it until I noticed the note next to the symbol chart.
Well, I have done the hair today and it is 2 shades of brown.
I can only imagine I looked at a colour chart online when looking to buy the threads and the colour on the site was wrong. I would blame my monitor but I have never had a problem with it displaying colours so I find it hard to believe it was to blame for that one time :D

    Evening all.

My row of sugar plum mice arrived yesterday :j Im excited about starting it. I have many UFOs !!! (including a friend's wedding sampler but lets :lipsrseal: !!) as I am keen to start my mice :D

I have caught up pretty much with all your posts and send hugs to all who need them :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I have to say some of the projects you are undertaking are AMAZING! and you should all be rightly proud of your efforts. Its great seeing pictures of your work. Hopefully I can get my head round this photo thing business and can post some pictures of my work.

One thing I have noticed is that some of you have marked your aida with thread. can anyone give me any tips on how to do this because I think I did try this previously and think my efforts were rather unsuccessful! It would be great to be able to mark the aida so that its easier to count and make sure I don't go wrong !

I also want to rack your brains re the country companions kits. I seem to recall that there were two or three designs that were particularly detailed. One featured the characters at a train station? I don't know when I saw these so can't remember how many years ago it was ! but I have never seen these on ebay so am beginning to wonder if I imagined them !!

i think i found a good deal in the 99p store today. they had some large xstitch kits. a grey kitten, pink flowers, and a 'bon appetite' kitchen scene. there isnt a photo of the completed kit, i didnt think the chart looked too good. but i noticed they came with needle (later found it's sharpe not blunt), nicely done instructions, a large bundle of threads and a piece of 14count aieda measuring 35cm x 35cm.

it's far cheaper than i've seen aieda on the market, (i've only done kits so far), but probably not very good quality. also the threads are loose & cut so aren't a named brand.

but for me trying not to spend too much it seemed like a bargain at 99p - so i bought 2 and now have threads and aieda for my motto sampler!:)

Who is the chart by? (I'm wanting a nosey at the picture lol) It sounds sweet.

As for marking the aida....mine os done with a wash out pen rather than thread. I used thread once and it was a pain in the proverbial to get out once the stitching was done :o

Why not get some magic aida - it has the lines already on it and it washes out at 40c. I am using it with my golden earth pattern.

I normally use a pen but for some reason it wouldn't draw well on my aida so used thread.............. NEVER AGAIN is a nightmare!!

Mine used too cause i used to stock up from there but i haven't seen any for a couple of months. saying that i have never seen any in my 99p store.

Hobbycraft do a large amount for £10.99.

    Or you could try ebay.

Oh and I do agree about the magic aida - it is fantastic and worth the money if you are doing a large project.
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:
