Emzy-start your thread by the loop method, cut a 1m length of one strand then fold it in half. thread the needle with the end that has the thread ends (not the loop) then sew into the fabric in the order up, down, through the loop, back up and carry on as normal. To finish off you can pull it behind stitches of other colours but that won't help for the first couple of colours that you do. Just do your best and I'm sure that it'll be fine. You can also leave a short tail of thread with one colour and use the next colour to trap it for a few stitches if that helps at all on your design.
Welcome to all our newbies. It's always good to 'see' new faces and the more the merrier.
edit: Sorry, for some reason my computer didn't show me a load of messages in between my post and Emzy's so I see others have suggested the loop method already. I agree it's the best method fr confetti stitches.0 -

I had a lucky day yesterday, went to the charity shop 2 minutes from my house as my mum wanted to look for some cheap wool and they had loads of cross stitch things in! I was in my element. They were all ina wicker basket and priced from 50p upwards, I bought a kit to make 3 picture frames which then attach on a large satin bow for £1.50, I thought it would be a nice present for my brothers partner as they have 3 kids between them so I stayed up until 3am and have 1 nearly completed already (birthday on friday) as they are really simple. Im hoping they are going to still have the stuff in there on thursday as thats when I get my benefit so should be able to get another kit. My town is full of charity shops but the only one that ever has them in is the small one for the local hospice, I guess its cos they do house clearances and stuff. Anyway I will post up my stitches later today.
Have a good day everyone.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member No 2 :j

Hello everyone, I'm back from and from visiting friends in lovely Somerset  and from holiday in Gran Canaria  (holiday was excellent, apart from the scary landing (details of that here for the nosy

My last post was no 1185 on page 60 so it's gonna take me a while to read all your posts! But I'm going to try!
I'm hoping the lovely flower alphabet has been finished (as i'm eager to see the top half!) and can't wait to see what else everyone is up to!
Thanks everyone for your advice re travelling on a plane - no one questined me at all :heartsmil. I didn't get as much of the kokeshi doll done as i'd have liked - too much turbulance on the way there and too much trauma on the way back! But i did do some, and the lady sitting in front of me was quite envious as she'd packed hers in the hold assuming you couldnt take a needle in the cabin, so it was nice to help someone else out.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Kind wishes sweetcarer http://www.stitchlinks.com/index.html
Sorry if the conversation has moved on, but i just wanted to thank Sweetcarer for the information on depression/stitching... it was very interesting.
i have suffered from depression and found myself that keeping creative (also writing down all the words tumbling around my head) really helps keep it under control, if that's the right word, i dont know.
i'm also dyslexic and found some interesting stuff there on that too - before starting a counted cross stitch after a friend inspired me, i NEVER thought i'd be able to follow a detailed pattern (i do sew and cook but never quite to a recipie/pattern!). Perhaps trying to do it actually helps? Very interesting, thank you.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I'm sorry for stealing the thread, but had to thank Bubbles for the insight - there's never anything crafty in any charity shops near me, apart from one i just found... (got 2 old xstitch mags and a magnifier ruler for 65p!!). I'd wondered why, but of course it is a hospice shop and they must do house clearances too... thank you!:TRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23.
