I have a quite a few large dimensions kits to do and am half way through "Rocky point", unrolled it the other day and my pins have rusted:eek:. Fortunately the rust marks are well into the border but hope a wash will get them out anyway.
I found a few rust marks on my floral alphabet (my latest acomplishment) when I found in the shed (found last year, abandoned for about 4 years at least) - see below
I gave it a good wash (I have tried lemon juice - don't work) - still have a couple of rust marks and hope the mount will cover them - see below (they are up at top).
So you are lucky they are in the border
Kind wishes

PS You were all right - I did good doing instead of bining it and starting again. This thread helped me go on with it and complete it!:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Sounds feasible - what alphabet design are you doing?
You have just reminded me that I started an afghan a few years back for my daughter and never got it finished. My sister is due a baby in May, I think I will hunt it out, see what letter I'm on and try and complete it for her instead.
I'm doing a mixture of pooh, piglet, eeyore and tigger. It's looking really good actually. I have left 3 pieces at the bottom to put each of my kids names and dates of birth and I intend to add some butterflies and spring marks. I started this one some 6years back .
Sounds like an ideal plan for your afghan and I'm sure your sister would love it. I found another afghan in my box when getting the pooh one out thankfully not started!I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -
Evening all.
I've got an extra 4 days stitching this week:T:T - ds3 has chickenpox:( so I'm off this week as well.
Will take a piccie later to update, but it may be a UFO again soon:o
I found a lovely abstract guitar/musical piccie that dh loves so I've converted it and it's going to be a monster:eek: 165 colours and 32in x 24in on 16 count aida:eek::eek:. Will try to do it by christmas (not saying which year:p).
Happy stitching

Heven been on the thread for a few days so this is kind of a long post im afraid (ive been busy crocheting instead of stitching). Apologies for the length, i have a lot to type.Bubbles911 wrote: »Spotty Butterfly, I am in Chester-le-Street so quite near dainty toys but never manage to make it there due to being scared to go out. My mum forced me to go to hobby craft. Thing is I know once I was there I would have a brilliant time, but I am so different to the person I was that seeing people scares me as stupid as that sounds.
I havent been on here for a couple of days as I had a colonoscopy yesterday and the laxatives I hd to take have had me throwing up for three days! Not a plesent experience. I now need to stitch something for my aunt as we have just been told her cancer is terminal.
I totally get it Bubbles, i could never make it at the moment as far away as Chester-le Street, despite living right next to the QE hospital- so its not really that far to "normal" people. But to me it feels like it might aswell be in China as if I start panicking i cant get back home quickly.
Dainty's is one of those places I cam make on a good day, same with going to the Grainger Market craft stalls. Hobby craft luckily is close enough to be one of those places i can make (in the car) unless im having a day where im panicking before leaving the house.
Sorry to hear about your aunt my thoughts are with your family. One of my aunt's died from cancer just after Christmas. Luckly i made the funeral and wake, but i didnt know if i would be-able to- i was supposed to be in one of the cars but was too panicky that i couldn't get out or the car/ come home if i needed to. So me and mum went in her car- meaning i had my "escape route". However I always knew my aunt would understand if i couldn't make the funeral- it was more the members of the distant family i was worried about as im sure they just think im scrounging of the government and have noting wrong.
Hope your colonoscopy went ok (including results), both my mum and grandfather have to have them regular as they have had bowel cancer (over 10 years ago now) so i know how horrible that picolax (sp) stuff they give you is- they both aren't shy with describing the nastiness.maria_and_the_imps wrote: »woohoo i passed my theory test this morning and im in the best mood ever xxx
Well done maria! Ive been trying to learn for 2 years- cant reverse for toffee. But as i cant see me doing proper lessons or sitting a test any-time soon (because i cant easily leave- so have no escape route as far as my panic attack's are concerned) so im considering giving up.Bubbles911 wrote: »My therapist keeps saying I have to get out and it sounds so easy when she says it but its not. She is always like phone your friends and go out with them but I dont seem to have any frinds anymore, the few I hd left disapeared when I attempted suicide.
My only friend really is my mum- but i also argue with her alot. If it wasnt for the fact i still live with my parents i probably wouldnt still be around.Bubbles911 wrote: »Anyway as for stitching here is what I made for my Aunt, I did it all yesterday couldnt put it down as it takes my mind off things. She is in hospital at the moment and they dont allow flowers (stupid or what!)
The hospital my aunt had radiotherapy in wouldnt allow flowers so i gave her the project i was stitching at the time (a lickle ted with a rainbow wind breaker on it), i haven been in the house since the funeral but last time i was there it was still up. I stayed in the room with her all through her last months.
I suppose i should actually talk about stitching instead of depressing every one.Getting on with 'Stealing the Moon'
Just about to start the second page of the chart now
Still enjoying the design, although with 24(!) different shades of purple, I have no idea why :rotfl:
That's gorgeous i love purple.
Ive did take a picture of the elephant i stitched (he doesnt have back stitch yet) but i cant find my camera lead. Im suposed to have that and another done for the end of april but im well in to crocheting right now- so im gonna start making the person they're for a elephant.
I would also like to thank maria and the imps for and elliep for *wink wink, nudge nudge* -ing me with few emails.
Welcome to the newbies.
sorry if ive missed people out in my response, i only skim read the last couple of pages as i had so much to catch up on.
And again apologies for the length of this mammoth post, or if ive bummed anyone out.0 -
SpottyButterfly - I'm glad to see you back here. Sorry to hear that you've been having a tough time of life recenty but there is no need to apologise to us about it. It seems that a lot of us on here have some experience of depression (for me, it's through my husband).0

thanks Maria! um, weren't there! i stayed away from the WHOLE of MSE for a while as i was too scared of what might come next, i know it sounds silly. i wish i'd never asked. (apart from now i'm in contact with a girl i met on the flight who had a bad time, so at least something good came of that thread.) It was the lure of all your updates that drew me back...Here's my update a day early because I am finished!! :j
This is today, all done!
:T Wow Shelly, its really beautiful! the rose is perfect, the backstitching fits and she is dainty and not over the top, IYKWIM. very lovely work! :TSitting watching 28 weeks later, so will pick up my stitching now to distract me frrom the gory zombie bits lol
:rotfl:Me too Louise! though my OH turned out the light to see better when they went into the underground... but that didnt stop me putting my lamp on in the adds!!:D
Oh, and hugs too for Spottybutterfly. If i'd been on here during the last 6months of my nan's life, i'm sure i'd have shared a lot too. dont' worry about it. While they say that talking helps, i found that it was actually WRITING it all out that REALLY helped. It sort of let my mind know i've taken note, so that it can stop pestering me about things over and over making me feel worse and worse. So keep writing?Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. Phew, I've caught up!! Sorry, this will be another long post, but i've just got to comment.
:T BRAVO Sweetcarer, your floral alphabet is amazing!! Also Louise - I can't belive how big it is! now i see why the subtle colours work so well, at that size it would be too dominating if it weren't so naturalistic. :TBubbles911 wrote: »My mum needed some knitting needles... and I constantly lose my needles!
I saw a hand written sign next to some knitting patterns in a charity shop today "ask us about needles", so i did, and the lady produced a vase full!50p a set  but sadly i wanted size 4 which she didnt have. I asked on the off chance at the next charity shop and they had the same out back! maybe they all do? is it a health and safety thing?
to be honest i dont know anything about knitting (i've done 7 rows of 9 stitches so far!!!) but i get most things second hand so i thought it was worth a try!).
so perhaps try one to see next time you loose them? or if you're having a down day, i could try for you?maria_and_the_imps wrote: »afternoon all thought it was about time i gave you all a progress pic on my dictionary of brasRuth_honey wrote: »I know they are probably giving me space-and they might be grieving themselves as they knew my Grandma too-but sometimes I just need a hug. I lost my nan at christmas. i feel really lost too. we were close, and i helped care for her towards the end. I miss her terribly and now feel i have to apologise or stay silent infront of people because i get the impression people think i should be over it by now - ok so 97 is very old but it just meant i had longer to get to know her!
