    Hi everyone.

Big:grouphug: to everyone going through hard times at the moment.

louise Can I ask - how big is that lady by the lake? And how long did it take to stitch? Only asking because I'm planning a monster of a pattern and have no idea how long it might take.

    Update on my Kandinsky stitching

Ruth Honey - if it's ok, i'll answer you later. i've got a full day's work ahead and can't let myself get off track or get down. hope you understand.

Update!! (sorry it's a scan) In the last 2 nights i've done everything beneath the end of the curve on the left. Ok, so it's not the epic stitches you are all working on, but it's the biggest one i've ever done (it's my third as an adult!). After the dafodils for mother's day, i'm a little tired of yellow so i'm doing that first.

I'm SO VERY PLEASED that so far i've managed to leave the right amount of space to put the flowers in, seriously, it's made my day! :D

Well I managed some of my letter X last night just a bit of backstich to do today and I can move on to Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loving the dictonary of bras seen that in a magazine and so want it .... don't know where I'd put it though if I stitched it.
Had a wee look on line last night and seen an AOY kit that I really like so I may have to talk OH into buying it for me.

So glad to see I'm not the only depression sufferer here. I'm getting counciling just now and have managed to start going out even if it is just to the drying green but by repeating it it's getting easier so I'll move on to getting out to the front of the house next, I'm just taking baby steps.

Well managed to get some stitching done last night and was a good girl and concentrated on backstitch - normally leave it till the end then get fed up and don't do it all but it does make such a difference am going to get a piccy on in a mo. Have decided that the evenings are definitely my stitching time for the next couple of weeks - am desperate to get onto something for me now once these couple of UFOs are done and dusted. Gave the tortoise to y friend yesterday for her daughter's room and she started crying she liked it so much!

Ruth_honey - I am still seeing a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist (CBT) about my depression that I was diagnosed with over 8 months ago. We are nearly at the stage that I will not be seeing her regularly (every 3 weeks now...was weekly for a good while), but returning if/when I feel I need to.

My sister saw a CBT after our mum died over 5 years ago, as she went to pieces quite badly. Mum had been quite ill for nearly 4 years, but my sister was unable to face up to the fact that she would be leaving us.

As to how you find a good cousellor, do try your GP first. When I had depression after DS2 was born, my surgery had an in-house counsellor working there 2 days a week, and was seen the week that my GP diagnosed me with depression.

Where we live now however, mental health provision is dire...a 16 week waiting list just to get assessed!! So I see a private therapist attached to my chiropractor's practice nearby. She is brilliant and has seen both my oldest son and myself over the years.

Personal recommendation can be a great way to find a good counsellor...though remember different people have different needs.

Sorry to have gone off topic - but felt the need to impart what knowledge and experience I have.

Here is how far I have got with The Astronomer as you can see, I have not done anything since the 21st of February...must sew some more sometime soon though! There are so many confetti stitches...but really must get back to it.

Now I have spent ages playing with my Picassa settings...aaargh! I could have done some sewing!!

Enough waffle from me...have a good day everyone.

Thank you so much for that info. I hate my doctors, but I might have to go and have a chat with them.
Just noticed your location-my Grandma was in Tewkesbury hospital for a couple of weeks before she was moved to Cheltenham when she got the chest infection. Small world...

That is why I love this group - we are all here for each other - be it looking for extra thread or just a kind ear.

When my first husband died, my GP asked if I wanted to go to see a consuller. I declined, as I had seen one about 5 years previous due to really bad depression. Sometimes I wonder if I should of it as I have days I blame myself for his death. I am considering talking to his mum (only one in his family who talks to me since the death - was married to him over 10 years). The consuller (the time I had the bad depression) should of been from the GPs surgery but I had being going to the same night class as her, so they referred to one at the social work department. I had to wait a couple of months and I seen her for approx 2 months. It did help. I have changed GP since then and health authority.

I found the stitchlinks website excellent and of course here helps me as well. I am lucky I have a supportive husband.

Kind wishes to all - happy stitching

    sweetcarer ;)

PS I am here anytime if anyone wants a chat - or someone to bawl and shout at - I will make the tea and my special banana muffins.

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining in. I used to do quite a lot of cross stitch when I was younger (usually just small pieces) and I'm looking to get back into it.

Can anyone recommend any nice, small starter kits to ease me back into it?
