  • Hi everyone, I hope you dont mind but Ive popped in for a bit of advise on a gift for my Mum. She does cross stitch and has asked me to buy her a kit as a gift as she can only afford to buy the small ones for herself and fancies trying something a bit bigger. I dont have any knowledge on the subject and shes asked for one with a picture already printed on the fabric so she doesnt have to count. Could anyone tell me where is a good place to buy these from, either in a shop or online? Ive looked on the hobbycraft website but they seem rather expensive and how do I tell wether the picture is printed on the fabric or not? Any help would be much appreciated as I want to get her something that she'll get lots of pleasure from.

    Hi there gladysrocker

The ones you are looking for are called "stamped" cross stitch ......
here is a link to one place that has them -but Im affraid you will have to scroll through the list to see if there is anything your mum would like -a lot are table runners etc......

    Hope you find something suitable...

    Hi MrsM,
That picture is gorgeous, your niece is very lucky! I wish someone would sew one for me LOL! I think I should ask you to pick my future projects for me as I love all the HAED that you choose to do.

    Hi Shelly,
Had to giggle at your post, I thought it was just me with the middle finger hurting like mad after sewing! I'd convinced myself I was sewing wrong or something, so I'd just have to put up with it. I can feel a nosy on ebay coming up! Thanks for the tip, I'd have never known where to buy rubber thimbles from.

Been seriously motivated this week, I've done 2 mothers day cards and most of DH's 40th birthday card. Quite proud of my little self because I usually only buy kits. I actually got charts and I now have the beginnings of a thread stash woo hoo! DH has even bought me a plastic thread box, thread winder and bobbins for Mothers day. Does that make me officially converted :rotfl:
:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:

Not sure if anyone is interested but The Magazin Group has Cross Stitch Crazy and World of Cross Stitch on 5 issues for £5. I've signed up for both as at £1 an issue with free kits etc I think they're worth the money. Don't forget Quidco too.

II had told myself that I was not going to buy any more cross sticth stuff this year as I have loads already but I love getting a magazine through the door!

Thanks :T I probably shouldn't have, but I've subscribed too! Couldn't justify both so I've gone for cross stitch crazy. I'll be watching the letterbox from now on, I can't wait :rotfl:

Been a bit awol for a while with life, children and work getting annoyingly in the way of stitching! Have zoomed through loads of posts and am amazed and embarrassed by the fantastic progress everyone is making.

Am being very good and have nearly finished tortoise for friends daughter, then got to finish flower vase for m-i-l and then am desperate to get started on something for me. Can't upload any pics cos camera lead is also awol atm.
