Hi everyone
Ive decided to get back into cross stitching, but where is the best/cheapest place to buy kits from? Is it just ebay? Had a quick look through the thread (will have a better look tomorow) but ive got to say the photos of the things you have done look amazing. Im looking forward to posting things ive eventually made0 -

Am going to rename myself grannydora - even though I'd better not be a granny for a very long time since Emily is only 8 (and is going in a convent from the age of 11 to 35)Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

Welcome!
That's a tough question.....
You can get some good deals on 'proper' sites (not ebay) when they have sales on but you have to be careful of p+p charges. Usually if someone gets a good discount code it's posted here to save some extra £££.
Personally I love ebay for buying kits, I have had some very good buys on there but you do have to be disciplined with your max bids.
There's also the option of buying a chart, fabric and threads seperately. When I looked into doing it this way I thought it was expensive to get started but once you have a stash of threads you might find you can buy a chart and not need any threads as you already have them.

I wouldn't mind them if they're still available - only live in St Helens just down the road from Liverpool, so could definitely use them.Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly

:TWell done sweetcarer, your alphabet looks amazing!:T
 Hi emzy81, my last few kits have been from eBay. Like shelly said, I have bought from the proper websites like sewandso and superstitcher but usually when the sales are on. Good luck and please post piccies when you find a kit.
Hi Bubbles911, that is a very kind offer, glad Dorastar can use them. I was tempted to PM you because I'm not too far away either, but I couldn't get a babysitter for that weekend. Thank you for the offer though, it was very sweet of you xxx:xmastree:What a splendid idea, this Christmas sounds fun. I fully endorse it, let's try it at once!:xmastree:0 -
The floral alphabet is approx 20" x 24". Thank you for all you kind words. Already started golden earth/orange lady (only 10 stitches). It is on already printed 14HPI aida with washable lines on it - used the same frame that I stitched the floral alphabet on - attached it with masking tape so I wouldn't get rust marks again.
sweetcarer
My picture of golden earth/orange lady. Bought on ioffer for $3 for the pattern (came in as a PDF file). Material cost £6 off ebay and £25 for 75 DMC threads. It is all in whole stitches and NO BACKSTITCHES.:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Sweetcarer - Well done on completing your UFO!!:T To think you were going to ditch it because of those rust mrks, bet you're glad you dug it back out now eh? :j
Bubbles - what a lovely offer to everyone, I am up in Scotland, so glad someone close by got them
nmm - thanks for the most recent update - it's looking great. You must be getting tired of all those sandy colours by now huh?
Hope everyone had a Happy Mother's Day (to whom it applies x) I have been away all weekend and am still knackered. Hoping to get started stitching again when my DS is at nursery this afternoon and DD goes for a napDesperate to get on with it and finally...maybe...FINISH :rotfl:
