Morning all
Strange that you are on about running out of threads etc....I have just been talking to my mum and she was saying that she has anchor threads "going spare" -she did this perriwinkle cottage kit yonks ago and then got the skeins of thread to do the chart for someone else -she has lots of them left over and as we now only use DMC she was wondering if any of you could "recycle" them
here is the pic I found on line so you have some idea of what colours they are...

Hope they might save someone a bit of cash -
*Louise* -they are expensive for such small designs aren't they... bet it won't take you long to finish that one off ...
That one you are doing always reminds me of grandad as we are a mining background

Oooh I am all sixes and sevens today.....sorry this is off-topic, but I had to tell you all...I am so excited! :j
My DS2 has been picked for the Scotland under-17s rugby team!!!! :j:j
He got the letter (and loads of bumf) today..glad he had a half-day, I don't think I could have held out to five this evening!!
Well done to your lad - might see him one day - I sometimes listen in to the rugby when doing my stitching (do this with alot of TV - I listen to programs more than watching them). Go Scotland!!!
sweetcarer
PS I have box of oddments of threads - I have kept them from small magazine kits I have done and other kits I have done - if anyone needs a wee bit I can try and help out when I can. I have some full skeins too.:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
Thank you everyone for your wonderful comments - I am still bouncing about today! :j:j
I had a meeting at my work...and I have organised some re-training for tomorrow, and some more in the next two weeks...then I have a few days of "proper" work sorted already! Looks like 2010 is going to be a good year!!! :T
I will pass your good wishes to DS2 when he gets home...a hectic in and out tonight...he has to eat tea as soon as he gets home as he has 2 hours of strength and conditioning work (courtesy of Scottish Rugby) at Worcester Rugby Club tonight.....starting at 6!!! So I am taking knitting with me as the light won't be good enough to get any stitiching done. DH would have normally done this, but he has been in Liverpool today...hoping to get back early enough to pick DS2 up, saving me staying there all evening.
As to DS2 not being small...he never has been, for his age!! He was 9 pound 2 oz when born and has carried on pretty well above the 98 centile line ever since!! When we got him his first bike for his third birthday...he needed a medium adult's safety helmet!!! He was 17 last week...the age group is defined as the age the kids are on September 1st at the beginning of the rugby season.
spottybutterfly - sorry to hear of your son's injuries..the lads tend to have a lot while they are growing so much. DS2 suffered a lot of sprains and injuries the three years previous to 2009 - so much so, my dad called him Mr A&E!!! He hasn't been in A&E since he had a knee op in December 2008 (no, it was my turn last year!). Can you tell I am touching lots of wood at the moment! If your son does get a lot of strains, and sprains (especially shin-splints or partial knee-dislocations:eek:!), do find a good sports physio...so much better than the NHS, though not very MS. We are spoilt having the a gym and the physio 10 minutes walk away.
Right off to have a rest for a while before walking the dog..it's amazing how tired I am from talking to folk at work! Then it's the early tea - gammon steak, pasta (for DS) or baked potato (for DH & me), with plenty of veg..
Will pop in again tomorrow and will try and post some piccies of the sewing/knitting I have been doing...goign to set up a new piccie site...Imageshack or Picassa I wonder?? Too fuddled to think atm!

Thanks Elliep and Spottybutterfly!
- the 'beautiful house' was my second kit & i was a little worried i'd not done something right! The first kit was from poundland so i wasn't concerned that i had leftovers, actually i was very happy as i could stitch 'happy mother's day' on the top of it in the same green.
Looking though the 4 mags and one old school book i've got (oopise again!, but it was a charity shop find so thats ok:A), i'm definately wanting to try figuring it all out for myself. For now i've got the free mag kit doll and another DMC house (found at 99p in a lovely craft shop - they are all over 2.00 on ebay, and 2.50 in my local craft shop - so at least that's a bit MSE!)
Thanks Ellip for the storage tip too.spottybutterfly wrote: »It well worth saving all you threads tho "just incase"now i have proof it's ok to hoard the leftovers!!:rotfl: i'm a young-ish MSE oldschooler - so i'd never consider doing anything else!

That's why I asked!!:rotfl:
Typical though, I have had all week off and go back to work on Monday. However, if it does arrive tomorrow my family MUST understand I won't be making dinner/washing/cleaning or anything else.£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
It's been a while since I gave you lot an update. Here is where I was at on Feb 14th:
And today:
I've been working hard and am really pleased with my progress, especially as I'm still managing to motivate myself to keep up with the backstitch as I go along.0 -

He's looking great!
I like to do the backstitch as I go too. Not only does it mean it gets done out of the way but it also makes the design come alive as you progress. Having said that I only do what backstitch I think is needed. Rarely do I do 100% of what the chart tells me to:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
