For anyone going on holiday flights- Last year I took a small kit (think it was a freebie one) with one needle on the plane. I didn't have any trouble with it. I did also pack a spare needle into the hold in case they did decide to take my needle, I didn't want to get stuck with no needle out there.

When I flew I didn't have a thread cutter, only scissors so I left them in the hold and trimmed all my ends after I arrived on holiday (threads were pre-cut lengths). I think you'd be fine to take a thread cutter though and I'm sure I've seen some advertised as being safe for use on an airplane.

I took a duplicate of everything I was worried about loosing in the hold just in case but didn't have any problems.

I think a couple of small projects or free magazine kits is perfect for holiday but I don't tend to do much while I'm there, it's just the flights I want them for. Have fun and enjoy your holidays everyone.

    goldenearth2march.th.jpg
Can we see what it is now ???? :rotfl:I think Im going to work on the piece to the left now, and then work up and around in a clockwise direction
Shelly- I think your rose is gorgeous ..... I think it looks better without Backstitch though -it looks more subtle and realistic...but that might just be me :p

Right -back off to do some more sewing.... have a great day everyone

    Thanks! :)

I thought the same about the backstitching on the Rose head but if you don't get it spot on in the right light it just looks like a jumble of pinks. When taking the picture I happened to get it spot on in the right light so you are seeing the best shot of it :D

If I were doing it to keep I wouldn't do the backstitching on the Rose head because my rooms at home are all large and airy and get lots of light. I could find a great wall to show it to it's best advantage.
The Fairies are for my Mum and they live in a very old cottage and it has low ceilings and small rooms so tends to be a bit dark even on sunny days so I thought I'd better do the backstitching so anyone looking at it knows it's a Rose :rotfl:

I'm even thinking of buying more threads and doing it again but for myself!.....but not just yet, have lots of others I want to do first.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

    Hi everyone,

There's some lovely stitching going on.

Talk about the caravanning couple reminded me I was thinking about doing this for our neighbours for a xmas present but not sure if they would take it in the right way. Just hope they wouldn't be offended by it. Will think about it some more.

    Finished the orangotan http://gallery.me.com/judith0909/100607/IMG_0034/web.jpg?ver=12675392140001

Waiting for the frame now just ordered it, as well as one for the tigers for when thats finished.
Will post the finished article next week hopefully.

MRSM - Loving all those colours, she is going to be stunning. I alos find t easier to take a pic when I move on to the next section, rather than having a certain day to update. (Plus I'm too lazy to take it all off the frame for the pic unless I have to to move it lol):o

Judellie - I can't imagine why they may be offended? I would think it was a lovely idea. Surely if they knew you took the time to make it yourself it would be appreciated for what it was. Oh - and that Orangutan is SOOO adorable!!

Update: Got an email from Jayne at Sewalong apologising for the delay and saying that my chart has finally arrived and been sent on to me :)

Also: Have started the 'Early shift' silhouette - it's been ages since I stitched on evenweave, it feels so intricate! :rotfl:

MrsM, it's looking good. Don't you just love it when those first stitches start to reveal a picture. Can I ask where you got you frame from?

I wonder if this is a bargain.

75 BRAND NEW SKEINS OF CXC EMBROIDERY COTTON THREADS

EACH SKEIN IS MARKED WITH A LABEL OF COLOUR CODE
IT HAS THE SAME COLOUR CODE OF DMC

FREE SHIPPING AND HANDLING TO WORLDWIDE

    PICK UP YOUR FAVORITE COLOURS

EACH SKEIN IS BRAND NEW IN 8 METERS (8.7 YARDS) OF SIX STRANDS

That is approx 24p per skein

Found it on Ebay - has 287 feedback ratings - 100% score. 5/5 star ratings too. I know you have to wait for it to come from China (7-15 days) but they do send you a tracking number.

Just trying to save a wee bit money - trying to MSE.

I don't think I'd go for it Sweetcarer. I'd rather pay a bit more and know what I'm getting. Yesterday I ordered 50 skeins of DMC thread for £16 including postage (32p each) from ebay seller Westbbc. I'll let you all know how that works out.

Across town didn't seem to be doing their offer on bulk buys, so that ebay offer was the best deal I could find.
