Yesterday I finished my baby sampler for my Granddaughter due in 5 weeks. (photo to follow) So last night I spent 2 solid hours winding threads onto bobbins (and another hour this morning) ready for when my HAED chart arrives. I ordered it a week ago and I'm getting impatient! Thanks to Mrs M sharing the list of threads needed I then ordered them all, didn't even look to see if I already had them in my collection as I wanted to start afresh with this one (not very MSE I know but this is my little birthday treat to myself). So now I have an organiser box dedicated just to Garnet. Obviously where I need say x8 of one colour I have only bought one for now but the colours are all there.
Just wondered if any of you are on Craftbubble?£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
Here is the baby sampler, just awaiting the date and name. I did exactly the same one for my other granddaughter and my daughter asked if I still had the chart to do this one the same one. I don't usually like doing a project twice but luckily I keep most charts.£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
Poppett, that is gorgeous.
I always keep my charts and use yellow highlighter in case I want to do it again and can photocopy it, but I've never wanted to do one twice yet. At least the option is there though.
This is the sampler I'm going to do for my Daughters room. Threads are ordered, aida is in the back of the cupboard, I'm already to go.

Just need to finish the one I'm doing first. I've just spent 20 mins searching for it and can't find it anywhere. It is called Jelly Baby Jack. Baby Jack from Humphreys corner eating jelly with a party hat on. No idea why it doens't seem to be on the web anywhere but once it's finished I'll upload a pic so you can see what I'm on about.

Thank you Harley. Your Jelly Baby Jack sounds adorable, can't wait to see the photo. I love the one on the link too.
I am absolutely itching to make a start on my HAED, I'll be mugging the postman each day until he delivers the chart. I've got this week off work so really would like it to arrive sooner rather than later and then I can indulge while hubby is at work and kids at school/college!
HAs anyone else ordered from Sewalong? It does say 7-10 days for delivery and I ordered on the 19th so it shouldn't be too long. Just wndered why they take so long?????£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
Hi Poppet
Jayne from sewalong told me that they can offer such a big range because they don't hold most charts in stock,,, she orders a lot of them as and when someone wants one. I gess it saves room and means she can keep upto date with the latest charts without commiting loads of cash to it..
Im sure it won't be long now ....and you are all set to go :T-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Ooo - so much to reply to today!!
pm2326 - That warrior is fanatastic! What a lot of work in it. That golden reflections you have lined up next is stunning.
Awesome2 - Loving those caravanners! Please post a pic once they are finished
23rdspiral - your card will be gratefully received by the recipient, I would also go with fraying the edges. What are you planning on stitching next?
Keiss - would you like us to petition to have another week added on to February? :rotfl:You have got som much to get done. Looking forward to pics.
sweetcarer - I guess it depends on which one you use. Best to pop in and ask how they attach it - I would assume adhesive will be the most common method, as lacing is rather time consuming. I go with the framer for large projects as I'm just to flipping lazy to learn how to frame things properly myself
poppett - I know that feeling well!! The one where you lie in wait for the postie...then that feeling of disappointment when your item hasn't arrived. Hopefully your golden earth chart will arrive soon so you can get cracking, you're looking very organisedx
Btw - I ordered 'Stealing the Moon' from Sewalong, and it really puts me off a site when things take so long. I need to double check when I ordered but I'm sure it was well over a week ago.
Harley - Jelly Baby Jack sounds really sweet - can't wait to see a picLoving that HC design you have lined up next as well.
wwpiggy - Gosh you have been busy!!! I have only read up to page 48 as i was getting to the point i would never get this posted if i read all the pages.
But a while back (well ok i think it was the end of Jan but the amount of stitching ive done since makes it feel a while back) I posted asking people for help on cheep even weave, and some of you helpful ladies sorted me out with links.
So basically back then i realized i had only the 26th of February to make 2 awards for our beaver scouts, queue me panicking a bit but thinking ah well atleast it should onlu come out with about 5 colors for the pattern.
As finding a cross stitch of a beaver had previously seemed impossible, i decided to use my mams dmc computer program that is suposed to convert images in to a pattern. Having never used this program before (and my mam never understainding how it works) i relised shortly after converting the image that it was going to be a lot harder than previusly thought.
This is the image i used
and basically dmc's program gave everything the wrong colour (so it wouldnt have looked right) had decided i would want the black that outlines the image (necker, arms, paper etc) as actuall stitches, not backstitch, oh and it had decided to "blend all coulours, so i had a list of like 50 colors for this beaver.
I decided to just buy the few main coulours i thought i would need for the image and ended up using the pattern just as a guide, mainly using my eyes to see where on the even weve i should stich to coppy the original image.
This has to have been the hardest cross stiches ive ever done and i cant belive i did 2 in a month.
So friday came a long and i still had backstiching on bothe the beavers to do, but thankfully i had done the lettering, so i worked solidly for 4 hours on the one below, and just got it done in time for the ceremony, however the other wasnt finished quite as you will see below.
(sorry if images come out big i dont know how to resize them)
This is the first one after being ironed
and here it is framed
and heres the other one ironed but still needing 4 hours stiching that i didnt have time for (fell to bad telling the kid i needed it back- made worse by the fact that the kid who was getting thew finished one didnt turn up)
I have sinced finished it and took a photo of it but the images arnt on my pc yet so will post it finished and framed later, i also took a pic of the appauling messy back as i saw earllier how neat some people did the back mine are terrible, but no one will see them so hey ho. Its mainally the backstitching it seems to easily knot behind and then you cant pick it out. Or as with this one i had stiched all my collums one stich too high and their was no way i was picking all the beavers tummy out to fix it so i just cut out the few steches and left the tails on the back.
I got cheep threads at the local marked (there just cheepy makes) and some were only 15 pence a skein, they had no sheen, but they seem fine, and as i used 1 and a half of the black, that was 30p i had to spend, way cheeper than dmc, even if i'd bought online, but i do think the knotting on the back is partly to do with the cheepness. However as you will see they didnt run and as the cheep thread i got was the black, purple, red and the tail i half expected them to run being sduch strong colors.0 -
They are brilliant Spotty. You did well to design and stitch them in such a short space of time.
Well done. xxxCross Stitch Challenge member 11 - May challenge well under way
