Isn't it strange that out of the whole HAE range so many of us seem to be drawn to the same ones....
elliep -across town are still doing their offer on threads ..I have just ordered mums for her next project
I have got some more done today....I seem to have a right old bee in my bonnet about getting cracking with this one...
Ohhhh and my charts and fabric have arrived from the wimble bees sale-1 of the coloured DMC fabrics had sold out

Isn't it ? I think they have a cheek charging so much - I've seen them for £12.99, scandalous as they are only 5" x 5". That's why I had no qualms about passing the chart on.
PS it's coming on well.

MRSM, I agree about us being drawn to the same ones. A few other people I know who have gone onto the HAE site also seemed to be drawn to her.
If she doesn't arrive soon I might be asking you to nudge nudge me the centre bit so I can make a start. I am soooooo impatient!£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
Thanks everyone for your travel tips - i will take the japanese doll for the flight, and i have somehow purchased another DMC little house (oopsie!) so will pack that in my case. But they both have pre-cut threads so i dont really have an excuse to use the cute purple thread cutter i bought
. oh well.
To whoever said that they dont do much when there, i'm guessing i'll be the same, but as this is the first officially 'Relaxing' holiday i've ever been on, my first all inclusive, my first propper 'resort' holiday  - i could get bored out of my brains and have to resort to cross stitch! :rotfl:
Congratulations to your family Keis, that's a fantastic achievement. (will some 1/2 time stitching will be on the cards?
)
MrsMcawber - I had a look at the links posted and although it wouldnt show me Opal, I'm personally more drawn to Garnet too. How odd. But luckliy it doesnt matter as the idea of doing something so big and complicated scares me! :rotfl:
Spottybutterfly - you said you had a lot of leftover threads from your other cute elephant kit... I'm just beginning and was worried to find that it looked like i had enough left over to do the 'beautiful house' all over again. - is this normal?Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
23rdspiral - Yes it's normal to have thread left over, and especially with small projects it often does look like you have enough left to start over again. I rarely do kits now (prefer charts so I can choose my own fabric etc) but when I'm in that situation I just make a thread sorter (card with holes punched in the edge) and label the threads with the DMC numbers then keep it somewhere safe in case I ever need just a little bit of those colours. If you start to use charts rather than kits then you'll find you use up the oddments, if you keep using kits then the oddments collection will just grow, and you can use it for small items like cards where you can adapt the colours to use up what you have.
MrsM - I don't know how I missed that offer, I'm going back now to look. My threads have been dispached now though and I've paid £16 for 50, which is the same as across town, but I think that is without postage and I've got them for £16 including postage.0 -

Spiral as elliep says with kits there's often lots left over. Though these elephant kits and the last newton bear one ive done- which are anchor kits are the most ever ive had left over in kits, nearly enough in each kit to stitch each image three times over!
It well worth saving all you threads tho "just incase"
I have had 2 kits where their hasnt been enough, one was a "Tesco's excessive" from anchor, and i ran out of the correct colour for winnie the pooh - which any experienced stitcher will know is a hard exact shade to match. And the other was also a Winnie the Pooh one, and must have only just had enough in it, as i had made a mistake and after unpicking it didnt have enough.
Actually mentioning tesco's my mam ran out of thread in a cushion cover kit she bought in there- she needed a whole other skein as it was stiched with 4 threads. Maybe Tesco's are just stingy.
I am now only buying kits when their cheep, i much prefer being able to chose the fabric i want/ bulk buy it, and all the books me and my mam had i'd rather use thoes for a bit than waste more money on full kits. Between us me and my mam have a full shoe box of the bits left over from kits.0
