:think:Hmmm had a chance to compare 6 and 8 now but the only difference is gas is slightly cheaper for normal units but fixonline 8 doesnt have 19.30 % Online Discount that 6 does. So how would I know if it's worth it to change (plus could get charged A contract cancellation fee of £30 !

    Hi gocat

Looks like this is one of the minor glitches I referred to in my previous post.

The online discount is currently not showing on the Fixonline 8 description when going through the Switch Now option. We are working to correct this; hopefully a bit quicker than the time taken to restore the switching tool.

Have a look at the Prices & Discounts page through Products & Services as I outlined in post 66. You will see the online discount relevant to your region there.

Sorry for the confusion gocat. Hope this helps a little. Give me a shout if you need any more details as will be happy to help.

    Hi Guys

Me again! Just to let you know, the problem with the missing online discount from the Fixonline 8 tariff description has been fixed.

The online discount can now be seen if you go through the Switch Now tool on your account.

There is still difficulty with "Switch now". It says can't change online more than twice in 3 months. However I have only changed once online. The second time was by telephone. Posing as a new customer with my own postcode etc had the same effect. I didn't really want to put in a neighbours address just to find out the prices in case EON decided to write to them.
So I had to go to a comparison site to find the new tariffs. I then made the switch by telephone. However I was very tempted to go to another supplier as Ovo were very much cheaper. Didn't want to lose my quarter's discount though.

    Hi hgm

Sorry you had a problem switching your tariff online last Friday.

There were certainly teething troubles when the fix was launched last week. However, I have just spoken to the manager of the online team and our technicians have not reported any problems over the week end.

I have also checked the website myself this morning and the switching tool seems ok.

Hopefully, the teething troubles have now been ironed out.

    Again, sorry for the inconvenience.

I just looked again and it still says I can't switch more than twice online. I'm pretty certain I have only switched at most once online in last 3 months and any other switches have been by telephone. So I think it is picking up total number of switches rather than online switches.
(I didn't have any problems with actual switch by telephone. Telephone staff are very helpful.)

In reply to Pincher - V5 is not that old, I only changed onto it on 28 January 2010, so it is probably the online switch I did make within the 3 months. EON have had 4 different online tariffs in the 3 months.

    Hi hgm

Telephone switches don't form part of the two strikes and you're out routine. This is only for online switches.

As I said, I have had a look this morning and all seems ok. It may be something peculiar to your account that is preventing you using this tool.

Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you would like me to take a look. Would be happy to do so.

Noticed you didn't get an answer to the contract cancellation fee at the end of your message. Are we liable for this if switching from Fix online 6 to 8?

Fix online 8 gives me a better discount but NOT if I'm going to be stung for £30.

Could one of the reps please clarify?

    Thanks

The £30 cancellation fee only applies if you change supplier, not for switching tariffs, and the new discount is 26.3% (it varies from area to area, but it is around that figure) for fixonline 8.
