How does that work then with r&r's? Because I got a load of meat and clothing r&r'd last week from there and nothing was said about bulk buying policy.

    Here's how it works:
C/A "Sorry sir I can only refund you for six of these items as we operate a bulk buying policy in this store as you will see on the poster behind the radiance of which is matched only by my smug smirk"

R&R candidate "That's ok I'll have the refund on the six and I'll take the other 42 items to Trading Standards that will have reduced the fine you risk by £12,000 I'm sure Tesco will be happy if it goes to court and they only have to pay out £84,000 instead of £96,00"

C/A "Now your just being silly"

R&R candidate "Well let's face it you started it!" "Is the manager in the store at the moment by the way?"

Bulk buy policy has no bearing on r&r at all because any store operating a bulk buy policy will surely stop you buying over the specified amount. if they don't then bulk overpricing results in bulk r&r tough titty!

CS also said that the old manager used to allow it but they have had a new one and he doesn't. He's apparantly only been there 2 months. It is the sutton colfield branch.

Fine he's obviously NOT the person to speak to then, next stop head office give them a call, just for information you do not need to give them your clubcard details etc, you have been overcharged, they have a policy that states in such circumstances they will refund the price and replace the product, it is their policy and they are bound to observe it.

Follow this advice and give up any hope of obtaining r&r from this particular store as you identify yourself as one of the sheep. The purpose behind the refusal of r&r is to discourage it, if you become discouraged then you only serve to encourage the individual making that refusal and in turn make it more difficult for yourself and those that follow behind you which in the long run will mean that Tesco can continue to overcharge with impunity, be as greedy as you like I say and comfort yourself that whether intentionally or not you are encouraging diligence and duty amongst those responsible for pricing integrity, if you weren't claiming r&r there would be no need for those responsible to take the amount of care they are at the moment, when I refer to those responsible I refer of course to the management teams who draw resources from this duty to other duties as the only loser when an overcharge exists is the customer regardless of the savvy mse'rs because in the long run we always win!

Not spa, but hey. The bag situation. Well, latest is we're only 5 days from complete meltdown at Tesco tills up and down the country.

Staff haven't yet been trained, and to be honest the chances of that hapenning by Monday ranges between minimal and zero. The function is on the tills now, I guess some staff may work it out for themselves, others will be asking team leaders Monday morning.

The amount of points is at cashier discretion. Coming in and packing one item in each bag proabably wont get you loads of points, but then what does constitute a full bag? There is no guidlines on how cashiers are supposed to guage how many bags have been saved. I can just imagine the "last week this box was worth 5 points what are you on about its only worth 3 now" arguments and the like.

Oh I can't wait to see this go t*ts up!

Managed my first R&R with intent today.

Went armed with a list, and managed to find the finest honey gammon steaks that a kind person isted earlier.

Went to the SC desk at 8pm precisely (not a popular time to do it when the store shuts at 8).

SA checked on the shelf then refunded in silence.

Was I a bit optimistic to expecta 'Sorry Madam'.

Oh well words mean nothing £9+ is far nicer .

I think this may be habit forming.

The Game Boy Sudoko had been restickered with a hand written label - some one must have been on my turf (North Bracknell)

Thanks to all who post these opportunities.

Not at all, I appreciate that it is daunting to deal with someone who appears to have more knowledge than you on a particular subject, I also acknowledge that the individual that dealt with you was preying on this weakness and talked/cajoled/bullied/convinced you that you were wrong when in fact you were right, I was just pointing out that to succumb to such behaviour will just ensure that it prevails rather than becomes discouraged, just give head office a call tell them your story and explain you feel you were cheated by their manager and ask them why r&r should not have applied, most c/s agents at head office will imediately agree with you that r&r should have applied and do all they can to ensure you obtain it.

Don't know about your store, but at the one I work at staff have been trained, not that its the hardest thing in the world to work out anyway, it takes about 2 minutes max to train someone how to use the function.

And as regards to points per item my store have put points guides up on each till, points are for FULL bags USED (to prevent people using 1 bag per item to rake in points, and so that people don't bring in 100s of bags just to get points). And the scheme we have been given is 1 point for bags/wine carriers. 2 points for the blue trolley bags/folding crates. And UP TO 3 points for boxes and wheelie trollies depending on items
    Titch :)
