Re: The posts on Bulk Buy Poicy.

This has nothing to do with r and r. As has been mentioned, it is there to protect availability. I am not keen on it myself - my whole job role is to make money, not turn away business;) - but it does have its uses. One store I worked in had a local garage owner come in and buy whatever bread was on offer. All of it.

The most common time I have to use it is when someone comes in wanting to buy every Baguette or soft roll at 8am Saturday morning. Its why we offer customer orders.

It is at individual stores discretion as to how many items constitute Bulk Buy.

  • I visited a store the other day, funnily enough the same one that I went to to do some R&R, but got nowhere as the prices had been changed while I was at CS.........

Anyway, I noticed this 'station' sort of thing, and it had a monitor and a printer and I suspect that what happened was that the new SEL were printed while I waited at CS.

Has anyone else noticed one of these in their store? Or was there an extreamly efficient worker in on the day I chose to claim some R&R?

Sorry to be vague about it's 'name', but, well, it is late!

    Thanks

They are being retro-fitted into stores and are part of the current design spec. Moves the equipment that would usually be in the back office on to the shop floor....which as that is where it is needed, kinda makes sense  . More staff on the shop floor more of the time = greater productativity.

Its possible the price labels were in the process of being changed anyway...

I've never done a misprice thing at Tesco but I was looking at an item today in there and noticed that there were big labels saying £89.97 on the display and a smaller label on the shelf edge saying £89.00. Sorry for being seemingly thick but if I bought the item and it went through the till at £89.97 does the policy mean they would refund the money and give me the thing for nothing?

What do you say at the customer service desk when asking for the misprice?

Does the policy apply to all products? (including the more expensive items such as £100+ things?)

What do you do if they say no?

Again, apologies for all the questions but I do want this item anyway and if there was a way in getting it at Tesco expense than all the better. I just don't want to go in there and embaress myself by getting the whole thing wrong.
  • Hi, I would say that this is a definate R&R as you can dispute the fact that you bought it based on the shelf price and you have been overcharged. Perhaps a few (who are far more knowledgable than I) regulars can give you a better descriptive understanding (Ben500, Hey Dude, Spa, McDonag etc?)

Just say at the CS desk that you have been overcharged for said product, because you bought it at the shelf edge price BUT wait for someone else to reply please, I wouldn't want to give you unsound advice.

    Definite R&R.

The lower price must be charged. If CS don't agree with you, ask them to phone HO to check.

TS will certainly agree with you!

    What was the product?

i know slightly off thread, but cant wait until monday....i will be packing my bags like those tescos little helpers do...about 3 items to a bag.:D
i have been stocking up on carrier bags over the last week.....another thought i was also thinking of getting those smaller carrier bags that you get from the market traders.. you know the type.....they will only hold about 3 tins of baked beans...and it IS a proper carrier bag... tescos dont mention a size do they :D
    Oh! My dream customer.

Why oh why do you post showing that you have the clear intention to go into a store and cause trouble? You are fully aware that if you take a small carrier bag in you will probably not get points, it is also clearly stated elsewhere on THIS thread that you will be awarded points based on full carriers yet you say you will pack 3 items to a bag...fine if its toilet roll but baked beans?!?

I applaud you for saving your carrier bags and protecting the environment but to say that you cant wait with some obvious devious intent is not on in my book. I guess its just another thing to be abused and then slate a company when you dont get your own way!

I have been following this thread for a while now, and have become successful at getting many R&Rs, thanks to the advice and discussion of fellow MSEers. A big thank you to you all.:T

I would like to let others know that it never ceases to amaze me just how ill-informed some of TESCO's local management are when it comes to their company's own Pricing Policy.

Typical of my experience was an R&R opportunity I spotted last night in my local Tesco Metro. I saw some fish with an SEL of £13.99/kg, yet the pack price was £16.99/kg. A valid candidate for R&R if ever I saw one. In fact I had successfuly R&R'd the same product at another branch the previuos day. Yet it took a lesson in basic mathematics to convince the Manager that the price I had been charged for the product was at the higher rate of £16.99/kg as on the pack and not the lower SEL price. Once he had grasped that (and that took about 15 minutes), he said that I should have expected to pay the £16.99/kg price anyway because that was the price on the pack. I asked him what was the purpose of the SEL then. He didn't have an answer for that, but instead went on to offer to refund my purchase if I didn't want to pay the pack price. He was obviously still missing the point!

I responded by reminding him of his company's Pricing Policy and that he could contact his Area Manager or HO if he needed clarification. At this point he backed down a bit and offered a refund of the difference in SEL and pack price. I reiterated that that was still not in keeping with his company's Prcing Poilcy. It eventually sank in that I was not allowing him to fob me off, so he finally asked me 'What do you want me to do?', to which I replied 'Just honour your Company's Pricing Policy'.

So, after about half an hour of wasting my time and his I got my R&R, but it just goes to show that there is still much ignorance of the Pricing Policy amongst Tesco's local management.

I have to agree with you Spa2k, as I work on the checkouts, if people are only packing bags half full or a third full, then I'll only give them one point per every 2/3 bags.

But before people get up in arms, I do know that different people have different views of what is full. For example some people pack 2 (of the 2l bottles of drink) per bag, but others pack 3, both of these are acceptable as full in my view. But blatantly packing them half full, you'll get new points. As has already been pointed out, points will only be awarded for FULL bags.
