I've never done a misprice thing at Tesco but I was looking at an item today in there and noticed that there were big labels saying £89.97 on the display and a smaller label on the shelf edge saying £89.00. Sorry for being seemingly thick but if I bought the item and it went through the till at £89.97 does the policy mean they would refund the money and give me the thing for nothing?

What do you say at the customer service desk when asking for the misprice?

Does the policy apply to all products? (including the more expensive items such as £100+ things?)

What do you do if they say no?

Again, apologies for all the questions but I do want this item anyway and if there was a way in getting it at Tesco expense than all the better. I just don't want to go in there and embaress myself by getting the whole thing wrong.
Excuse me but I seem to have been overcharged!

Let the c/a examine your till receipt and product to establish the price differential, you will probably be offered either a lame excuse such as "this item/label has been placed incorrectly you have been charged the correct price, this sel refers to a different product" once you have overcome the objections, you may then get offered the differential, just politely point out the sign behind the c/a stating the refund and replace policy. Some will mess you around for a while some will just get on with your refund others can be quite obstructive, if you feel the c/a is being obstructive DO NOT get involved in a debate ask to speak to a supervisor if the supervisor does not come through with the policy refer to the duty manager then store manager and finally if no result head office who will in most cases ensure you receive your refund and get to keep the items, the reluctance to observe r&r is at ground level and diminishes the higher you escalate your enquiry or complaint.

PS There are no exclusions to r&r.

While I was waiting at the CS desk today for my R&R, 2 other people had jars of what looked like Butoni? (some Italian Pasta Sauce), they had 2 each, but I couldn'thear what was being said. It may have been a BOGOF that was not working??

    Worth a look, maybe

there will be some misprices in every store, you just may have to look hard. Compare the shelf label for weighed items with the pack price.

e,g, if you are buying cheese make sure the £/kg on the pack matches the one on the shelf.

Also check to see if the yellow special offers have expired and use the self checking scanner in store.

Spotted what I thought was a good bet at an R & R today - youngs hake fillets, a couple of odd boxed were lurking in the freezer with BOGOF printed on them but nothing on the shelves. Past experience said this was likely to be an R & R - unfortunately the scanner didn't recognise the item, we then had to wait about 10 minutes for a superviser who manually put the price in - and of course spotted the BOGOF written all over them! Oh well, I've had them before and they are really nice, so I took a chance anyway....

Oh... and they failed to notice the two mispriced games that had already gone through for a £49 R & R !!

Whilst getting an R&R today on some Cod Loins (to be found right next to the Cod Pieces!!!) :rotfl: I noticed that Customer Services also had removed a Buy One Get One Free on Mathesons Cooked Meats (Chicken and Ham) I think - so may be worth a try - possibly the discount doesn't work

In respect of couple of posts recently re R&R's which have gone wrong, and you are left holding a game which you don't want and cannot really afford. Tesco staff correct me if I'm wrong, but if the packs are still sealed ( ie in their clear plastic wrapping) I would assume they would be refundable in the normal way - after all you have a receipt for the item. I have certainly returned them before now, and never had a problem. :A

Problems occur when the item is not sealed.....and there have been discussions here about this. In fairness to the store, Cds, dvds etc can be copied, so you could buy them, take them home, copy and then try to get a refund.

I always try to make sure the item is sealed - take a really good look inside the protective plastic casing before you buy. This also means that if cs has closed for the night, or the cs staff are ones you have a 'history' with that means you want to give them a wide berth, you have the item with the lower price on, and the receipt showing you have paid a higher price. You have all you need to come back another day to claim your R&R, it doesn't matter if they change the sels in the meantime !!:D

If the only one available is unsealed inside the case, make sure you self-scan first so you know it is a definite R&R. Or, when it goes thru the till at the lower price, come up with a reason not to have it. You haven't enough cash on you, or you've simply changed your mind.

If all else fails and you have paid for a game you didn't want, head straight to cs desk BEFORE you leave the store, and make up a reason if you need to. Point out it is unsealed and you don't want a game/dvd etc which looks second hand. Your receipt will show you bought it only moments before so they cannot accuse you of whizzing home and making a pirate copy in 2 minutes flat.
