I was in the Meadows, Camberley branch at just after midnight and noticed that the Best Before on the SEL was the day just before the recently past midnight, is it possible to claim an R + R for this?

I was in Tesco's Reading to chase up an R&R and was shown a tiny sign which stated a full refund would only be given on a maximum of 3 items. The difference would only be given on the remainder.

Only problem with this rule is does it apply to 3 overcharges in your whole receipt or 3 overcharges per item (ie. if you bought 3 cartons of milk and you were overcharged)?

I don't know if any other stores set limits for their R&R's but this is one to watch out for in the future!
  • I was in Tesco's last night and I bought (amongst other things) what I thought would be 2 potential R & R's.

1 x Pack of Scottish Mackeral Strips (in the chiller) SEL £9.94kg Pack £7.94kg, product price was £2.20

1 x Pack of Tesco's Fresh Danish Pork Loin Steaks (Pk of 4) SEL £6.48kg Pack £6.49kg product price was £4.40

When I checked my till reciept I was charged £2.20 & £4.40 the product price for each item. It did not state on the till receipt the actual weight price, therefore I did not go to claim R&R on these and just kept them because I presumed I didn't have a leg to stand on (so-to-speak) to argue the point on the weight issue, thus resulting in an overcharge.

Was I wrong? Should I have tried anyway? What could be done in these circumstances when I have no valid weight comparison on the receipt?

Sorry to 'discuss' on the post only thread, but don't know how to 'quote' over to the discussion thread.
I would have to disagree with xanderd. The Egypt and Collins books were all stickered at a price lower than what we were all charged - not only a SEL, but clear irrefutable stickers on each and every book. In ALL my local Tescos, and by the number of posts on here, the mis-price was obviously nationwide. All mine were scanned on a manned till by sa, no-one battered an eye at charging me more than the sticker said. R&R on them all, so Scottie 1 has posted a mis-price that might (hopefully) be relevant to us all. I will certainly keep my eyes open for it

When I bought one of the overpriced PS2 games the other day the cashier noticed the overprice after she scanned it, took the plastic box off and said to me, "Oh, this has come out as more money on my till, you might want to go to the customer services desk to sort this one out, you might get your money back"!!

I noticed a similar sign/notice in East Dereham the other day as I was getting an R&R. This one stated something like "more than six items of one product is classed as a bulk order"

I think that it was an in-house notice printed on white A4 paper and not a proper Tesco sign with logo and laminated.

Not sure if it was related to R&R's though as it was on the wall next to the CS till and nowhere near the large blue R&R poster.

Anyone else come across such notices?

The first one sounds a bit FISHY too me - an underprice I think - No R&R.
The second one though is a definate R&R. 1p overprice is an R&R.

Never had a receipt with the weight price on it and you don't need it. Just say that I noticed that the shelf price is different than the price stated on the product and leave CS to work it out themselves. If they try to fob you off with a refund of the price difference just remind them about the notice behind them and ask for the full refund.

  • Hi McDonag

I think I'm definately having a few 'blonde' moments lately!!!

Anyway, my error. I've just checked said fish and I'd written it wrongly... The pack price is 9.94kg where as the shelf edge label states 7.94kg.

As I haven't tried this r & r lark for a while, I guess I was expecting to see some kind of 'proof' to dispute on the receipt regarding the weight. Never mind, maybe next time I'll get it right.

Pork curry, Pork with apple sauce - looks like I'll be 'pigging' myself out this week. :D :rotfl:

I will have to check this out myself. My youngest loves the smoked mackeral, and I was checking the packs and sels on these myself recently. The STRIPs are normally over £9.90/kg as opposed to the ordinary fillets which are a couple of pound cheaper per kg. i.e are you sure that the sel was for the strips and not the ordinary cheaper fillets.
Hope you are right though, I would love to get a few FREE packs :D
