Checked store today, Yellow labels still on the shelf now out of date however all mobiles have either stayed teh same price or have gotten cheaper. Damn.

    Hi Brenmcc,

Thanks for your posts, very helpful for me today. Please see my post on only misprices for more info.

I would normally agree with you, but not in this particular case. McDonag has had to put up with some quite nasty posts a little while ago, nowhere near as almost-good-natured as today's have been. Please let him enjoy this sweet moment a little longer ..... and also to give more time for embarrassment to those quick to pick on him.

  • Oh McDonag, well done to you. You go man :T :T :T
(I didn't see the receipt that you are talking of, but well done to you for actually doing so, perhaps this will silence a few critics?)

  • mcdonag- I normally think it takes "balls of steel" to do this sort of R+R but I bow to your pure titanium balls in this case!!!!

Dude's Saturday tip this week - "Which Mis-price?"

#1 - The Gotcha - This is the least contentious mis-price - you have the Bay City Rollers Greatest Hits with a £1.98 sticker on and you are charged £19.99 - easy pickings - even the nastiest Customer Service staff will find it difficult to argue against this one – although your taste in music is $^*&”)$*.

#2 - Quality Meat - This covers mis-priced per kg SELs - usually meat - often cheeses and so on - your kangaroo joint has a SEL of £9 a kg - on the pack it is £10 a kg - you may have to give the CS staff a lesson in mental arithmetic dyslexia - and point to "the shelf" bit in the Price Promise - but you will get some joy.

#3 - The Time Traveller - Out-of-date crispy duck is no good for you - but out-of-date SELs are always handy - look for goods with a yellow SEL - check the expiry date - if it was last night/week/year then you could be in - check the price and you may be in - some caution - sometimes goods have not changed in price – but particularly good spots for mobiles & cameras.

#4 - The Special Offer - this covers extra advertising away from any stickers or SELs - "all XBOX games under £30" and the like - if you find one for £30.99 you have a mis-price - also check the repeating TV adverts in Extra stores - you may see Tomb Raider 7 - Laura's Melons at a lesser price – but you do have a mis-price - but you will undoubtedly face an uphill struggle with CS as you argue your case - worth a punt!

#5 - We Don't Go Outside - when Tesco run big promotions - '50 cans of Carlsberg for £10 and your sister traded in' - they will sometimes put up big signs outside - pay attention - outside the store. Check these out the day after said promotion finishes - sometimes the outside signs are still in place - grab yourself a pallet of beer, argue with CS and check into AA in a couple of day’s time………..

Have fun Dudes - and remember to report your findings on the mis-price thread!

Also look at the "large AO size" posters hanging above the products in the aisles! The Mars bars and Orange Fanta were recent errors on these. I loved taking the CS girl to the Mars bars and then saying to her "now look up!" The look on their faces were a picture! The funny thing was though, they couldn't take them down!

    Please can some MSE'rs help?

I went into Tesco's (Reading) yesterday and bought 4 packs of Wrigleys Chewing gum (SEL 89p). However when I went to the till they went through at £1.25.

I proceeded to the CS desk where I was told I was wrong as the little, camp Asian CS guy buys this chewing gum all the time and knows it's £1.25. Anyway I dragged him to the shelf where I got it and there was a big "Was £1.25 Now 89p" SEL. He removed all SEL's then went back to refund me.

Anyway, he started to refund the charge to my card and in the process accused me of deliberatly looking for misprices just because I was up there last week when the checkout girl charged me twice for one product! When he'd finished he said there is £4.23 back on your card. I said shouldn't it be £5 but apparently, he told me, their new policy is refund on three items then the difference on the remainder.

Can any MSE'rs confirm this is the new policy or has this guy just spouted some bullsh*t?

And, how do I go getting back the rest of my money if this is the case?
