so the cashier scanned it in at £19.99 even though there was a £14.95 sticker on it?

Sounds like a one off error rather than something releavnt to all stores...
(I know this is misprice only but I feel I need to say this)
Absolutely wrong I'm pleased to say. 99% of the time the checkout assistant never ever looks at the sticker on the item. Almost all of my R&Rs are from it scanning at a higher price than on the actual item itself. Most checkout assistants don't really care and just scan the item, take it out of it's box and pass it on to you. Very very rarely will they see the prices do not match up.

So yes, it is a definate mis-price and not a one off!
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)
  • Can we have a quick poll on self scanners, there are 2 in my local Tesco and until about a week ago they both worked fine, then I noticed they were taped up, and today the tape was off but both scanners, although scanning have nothing showing on the LCD display.

This makes me suspicious that it's a deliberate thing, and makes R&R more risky - anyone else found this in their store ????

I have to say that in one of my regular stores I was surprised to find the self scanner working again today after many weeks/months out of action, so I don't think there's a conspiracy!

O but there is a conspiracy.......Tesco want you to think they are working and then when you go again it wont be workinbg thereby making you become paranoid. Get a life pleeeeeeease Tesco will normally repair the scanners if they are broken.lol

I agree with JPS - these are the easy R&Rs to get, because the SA hardly ever looks - or if they do, say you've changed your mind, or try and keep them talking as it goes through.

Alternatively - even better - use a self scan if there is one in your local store!

I have read on here that, if you email customer services, they will get it repaired. Might need to make up some reason about something recently not having a price on or something and you were unable to check it and couldn't find anyone to ask or something.

    customer.service@tesco.co.uk

This was the reply I got to my attempt - have yet to go back in and see if it's fixed tho!!

    "Thank you for your email.

I do apologise and have passed this onto the store manager for him to get this sorted asap.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk quoting .........."

Also, for whoever it was earlier that wanted whether Horsham has a scanner - yes they do 3rd or 4th aisle in apparently - check this thread...

Also being asked to add whether a store has a self scan checkout - smartie1976 is doing a great job of collating all the posts on that thread into one master list - so add any extra ones that aren't on there and they'll be added for us all to use!

    Cheers

There is a fair bit of controversy about that one. It makes it easier for the buyer to get past the sales assistant, but customer services may use the fact that as YOU scanned and paid for the item all by yourself, it was up to you to see the price and when you paid you were agreeing to the price. This won't always happen as it is still a misprice, but you may make it harder for yourself! Like I said, a small sticker on the product is never even usually seen by the guy on the checkout anyway:)

Sorry to 'discuss' on the post only thread, but don't know how to 'quote' over to the discussion thread.
I would have to disagree with xanderd. The Egypt and Collins books were all stickered at a price lower than what we were all charged - not only a SEL, but clear irrefutable stickers on each and every book. In ALL my local Tescos, and by the number of posts on here, the mis-price was obviously nationwide. All mine were scanned on a manned till by sa, no-one battered an eye at charging me more than the sticker said. R&R on them all, so Scottie 1 has posted a mis-price that might (hopefully) be relevant to us all. I will certainly keep my eyes open for it
