Our sat nav won't search for Tescos stores specifically, but when you'r out and about, if you do a search for local fuel stations it will pop up with the larger ones.

I bought 2 tesco bath sheets yesterday and I thought at the time they were about £14 each and when I looked through my receipt I was charged £7.95 and now I am home (20 miles away) I cannot remember if this is wrongly priced or is it me making a mistake and thinking it was about £14 for 2 - it says on the receipt bath sheet though so maybe someone will check it out. Cheap if it is a mistake!!!
Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j

After a bit of thought I’ve cobbled together what I think are the 4 most important issues to consider when out for R&R - I hope these will be of use to both the newer and more experienced R&R community – but the basic guidance on Post # 1 is invaluable to the newbie – go there first, then come back to The Dude….

But first of all – forget the Sales of Goods Act and all the other well-intentioned legal arguments – by attempting to buy goods at Tesco that you know are wrongly priced – you are not shopping according to the ‘spirit’ of the Tesco Price Promise.

And if you were to put your hand on your heart and admit this – then the legal arguments come crashing down around you…..

But hey – we love to R&R – that’s why we are all here – well, most of us! ;)

I used to R&R everything I could find – this can be a mistake – your profile amongst the CS staff increases.

When you spot a R&R – ask yourself ‘Is this something I really need?’ Don’t R&R for the sake of it – do you really need the wrongly priced Tesco Value Birthday card?

Dude’s Tip Number One – Only R&R items that you really, really want!

Attitude – when securing R&R quoting Section C and Paragraph 6 of the Sales of Goods Act to CS staff isn’t a good move – treat the staff how you wish to be treated – polite & calm even in the face of potential adversity - keep your profile low, not too much eye contact – you don’t want to be a memorable character because you want to come back!

Dude’s Tip Number Two – Be polite and calm– don’t demand R&R – wait and see what happens – if pushed politely point to the Price Promise.

If you go to the same store and R&R regularly you will become familiar to some CS staff – scope the store when you go in – pretend to look at newspapers or other goods whilst working out who is on duty – try to avoid CS staff who know you and have hassled you in the past – check the CS desk again before you buy in case there has been a shift change.

Try the weekends – mix it up a bit – go after 1930 and you will find different staff – Saturday evenings means you will probably get part-time CS staff - if you have the means go to different stores – if you are after groceries use Metro and Express Stores – use the Tesco web-site to find all the stores closest to you.

Dude’s Tip Number Three – Vary your shopping trip times – visit other stores if you can.

Don’t make it obvious that you are after R&R – be disciplined – if you buy a dozen mp3 players CS staff will undoubtedly know what you are all about – get a couple of items – add in other items of shopping that you need anyway – you need to look like a wronged shopper, not a freebie hunter.

The only exception to this is when you are visiting a store miles away from home, say on holiday or on business – if you know you are unlikely to be seen again for some time then you can push your luck a bit….but each to their own!

Dude’s Tip Number Four – Be disciplined and R&R only a couple of items on a shopping trip.

Anyhow these are my top four R&R tips – hope these are of help to you good Dudes. :o

    Take her easy,

    Duder

I would concur with all your points, Duder. Quality post!
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

i'll add one to duders recommendation (well, actually alter number 4 a bit)

if you're getting quite a few R+R on your trip, then 'pad your shopping' a bit.

    i.e. actually buy some groceries!

the way I see it, if you have to spend a tenner to get £60 of stuff, it's a bargain.

since 'padding' i've discovered that staff in ALL tescos i've been to (about 10 now) are far less hostile to R+R than just getting the free items alone
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

    Hi Moneysavers

I did get the Ecover R& R priced at £3.78 scanned at £4.39. Went in today and they have changed it to sel £4.39 YET on Tesco.com there is only 1 type of Ecover washing powder listed and it's on their Tesco comparison price Check at £3.78.
What do you think ...if I buy it at £4.39 and then take in a copy of the price checker do you think I'll get a refund??

I think probably not myself. The store has no way to view the comparison website in store and so have no way to verify the information. Better off persuing via head office rather than the store if you really think its worth it.

    I am not sure

Could not agree more wirh both Duder & Bleugh - excellent posts.

The one thing that I am sure will get you remembered so I rarely do it is going for R&R on something overcharged by 1 or 2 pence. However, I know many of you do this regularly and am not knocking you for it - I just wouldn't feel right doing it.

Also, do not refer to R&R because that will really make you stand out as a regular. If you do need to mention the policy, call it something like 'overcharge policy.'

Fair play to you - Tesco's constantly rip off poor farmers all over the world.

Can you prove that accusation with facts then?

Well their sheer weight of buying power will dictate the prices rather than negotiation with the farmers. They can't be making all this profit by sharing it with their suppliers.
