Can anyone tell me the precise name of the act that is being broken by charging at a higher price than advertised (preferabbly with a link - not to worry if not I'll Google it).
I am in a dsipute at moment with another company and remember seeing someone on this thread once mention the name of the act but cant find it on trawling back through the thread.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Consumer Protection Act 1987

"The Consumer Protection Act 1987 makes it an offence to indicate a price for goods or services which is lower than the one that actually applies"

I can't find the actual act on the internet but the above quote is from the code of practice for traders on price indications- available as .pdf file from DTI website http://www.dti.gov.uk/consumers/buying-selling/Adprice/Misleading-prices/page7848.html

According to spa2k on here (who works for Tesco) the 5p per litre discount if you spend £50 or more in store offer also ends on Sunday, so I reckon Tesco's petrol supplier may be seeing lower orders from them shortly...

It is currently DUE to end on sunday, of course with Tesco anything can happen...these promotions are often extended.

While this 5p promotion has been on, well at least the last couple of weeks, my local one has been closed down for routine maintenance. Funny how when I used to work in a petrol station nowt happened
  • Following last weeks debacle with the 2 for £2 oranges offer
I was appauled yesterday to see they are still indicating that the
satsumas are included in the offer when I now know they are not.
(and they won't honour R&R policy either)

This is despite me spending forever with CS + 'Produce' Manager
+ describing misleading signs to HO CS.
Everyone agreed that the signage was confusing
and yet a week later they are still there...

...if this isn't proof that Tescos are deliberately trying to mislead customers
then I don't know what is!

Only option left is TS.... they seemed very interested and man on phone said they would send round an officer this afternoon (... must be a slow day if there are that bothered about couple quid worth of fruit!)

Not sure how this will effect my R&R career... Has anyone brought in TS before? Does anyone know anyone who works for TS? What will happen next?

    Thanks.

I can give you the stores perspective. I have had visits from TS a number of times, both on routine inspections and following queries from members of the public. While I don't think "enjoyable" is the right word to describe these visits they are cetainly not the third degree some may imagine. TS are as much there to support the retailer as they are to support the consumer.

The store will get a visit with the detail from your complaint. They will take a look. If they agree, they will ask the store to rectify it*. If they do not agree (with your complaint) they will get back to you and tell you so.

Tesco corporate issues are taken up by one TS for the country (I forget which one, it may be Cheshunt). Although your contact will be with your local branch, they may be liasing with the branch that covers all stores.

TS may pass your details to the store. I have certainly been given names/address' in the past so I can contact customers direct.

*at least that is what I have always had. Would depend on the history for the particular store.
Who or what was I before you came in to my life
    I am not sure
