I was insistant that 1.2kg was 1200g, and she finally said 'ok, I believe you'. But then she said that the promotional pack was totally different to the other one. One is concentrated and one is integrated - they wash differently. And the barcode was different on the SEL. That store is atrocious at doing misprices and I end up wasting so much time I don't even bother shopping there at all now. They try everything 'the barcode is different' 'it says on the pack how much you have to pay, so its not an overprice' (for weighed items) 'this SEL shouldve bee taken down 2 days ago when the offer ended'

Anything, it's just pointless, they've clearly been told NEVER to give an R&R

Any chance of naming and shaming this store? If it's in my vicinity I'd see them as a real challenge, lol. And if it isn't I'm sure it will be in the vicinity of someone who wouldn't mind having a go! They need teaching a lesson about pricing, clearly...

Not really within reasonable driving distance for me. Shame. Anyone been successful here?

  • Yes to this please Dude cos i'm sick of being followed round my local store. i wouldn't care but i only ever go there once a week, have only had about 5 R&R's, each one only worth around £10-£15 so its not as if i'm being greedy. they've taken all the SELs off the meat and the deli counter, so if you've got any tips you could pass onto me, that'd be great. Don't have a car so can't go to other stores....the next nearest one is 12miles away

Glad to see that you have finally changed your avatar Mandy!! Hopefully less of a chance of recognition now for you. ;)

I love this site. I got two free packs of ecover, she also forgot to mark the receipt so if I choose to I can get one pack try me free, and they both have a voucher inside for 75p off LOL! (hartlepool store)

I was also in Durham store and they had it marked at half price on the older boxes. Bought some of that two, have no opened yet so not sure if another voucher, woudl be a real bargain if it did as it was only £1.90.
Like my avatar, took the photo myself with the free digital camera I bought from boots with all my free points! I love moneysaving.

Just to clarify in case of confusion...the above is an attempt at humour and is in no way true.

I don't see that what I did is either wrong or snidey. I simply asked a staff member who was walking around checking prices with a hand held scanner if she was sure the price was correct - as I had paid. a lot less last week She picked up one of the boxes, scanned it and said 'its definetly wrong, I'll get the label changed in a minute' and she took the label away having repeated that the items would certainly scan at the lower price.

I didn't scan any of the boxes myself and , although I had a pretty good idea that the boxes with the pink label on would scan at a higher price, I had no way to be certain so I took a gamble that they would. And they did so I was lucky. The CS came and scanned several boxes - some were the higher price, some the lower price and she agreed it was incorrect and misleading and that the prices for the new and old stock should have been labelled separately.

So how is that greedy, snidey or anything else unpleasant ? It certainly isn't in the same class as people on here who boast about £2000 plus R & R in a matter of months, multiple refunds on phones, microwaves, dvd's etc.

Some of you on this board are too quick to jump down others throats and are unnecessarily critcal and downright rude when there really is no need for it. The only reason I posted that message was because I'm new, I've been able to benefit from others helpful posts and I just thought my comment might help somebody.

I'll keep my mouth shut in future !
Please dont shut up in future, all posts are valid, the whole point of the debate is for people to air experiences and opinions, not saying yours doesnt count, I just disagree with it.

What i felt was wrong with your post was this
So don't be put off if the SEL is the higher price - so long as you can get a staff member to confirm that they should scan at the lower price - if you see what I mean.
I understand that you were given wrong information by the member of staff however what you suggested here was that you should ask the staff to confirm that all products will scan at the lower price when someone knows full well they wont. What you are doing is encouraging people to manipulate staff who wont know any better into giving you false information for monetary gain.

As the policy states "the wrong price on the shelf or the product" and no way states "as told by a member of staff" then CS would be within their rights (although morally wrong) to refuse r&R especially as the correct price was displayed.

Turn it around, if the member of staff said "actually its £1 more than the SEL says" would you insist that you pay that £1?

You are of course right, it is not in the same league as some who have boasted however it is encouraging behaviour that is at best questionable. If you felt that I have jumped down your throat then I apologise, that certainly wasnt the intention.
