When selling products by weight the price per kg (used to be lb) must be clearly displayed, it is reasonable for a consumer havomg picked up one item and examined it for the price to expect all products to be similarly priced, it is not the responsibility of the consumer to examine each and every product selected in order to determine the individual price unless there is a clear indication to do so, hence the "see individual item for price" "items priced individually"signs you see in stores and shops.

I am not sure that would be quite as simple as you suggest. Surely by individually pricing every pack they have fulfilled the unambiguous pricing concern;-)

I agree Tony. If a price is displayed on a product and no signs contradict this price then there can be no ambiguity. This is often done in many supermarkets where larger packs are charged at less per kg than smaller packs.

Just returned from a minor ATS Trip *as I've been told I do by OH.

Mostly this is time to browse and maximise returns on various coupons by combining their values just before the various expiry dates. Todays overall return on some tea, cheese and pork is a 45% reduction in price, combined money off and CC points.

    LOL!!
I shop like this too, buying stuff just because I have a till-spit for 100 points, using money-off coupons to pay for part of it, and getting the odd R&R on meat when there's a gap in my freezer. Shopping takes 2 hours though! (do other R&Rers seem to spend half the day in Mr T's? From some of your posts I bet you do - not counting Spa2K, Constantine etc., of course)!

Can't believe this time last year - I shopped mostly at Sainsbury's as it's nearer my house, never bothered much with money-off coupons and had not realised how good the Clubcard Deals can be. Also I never checked receipts, Tesco or otherwise, just assumed they were about right, I must have been ripped off hundreds of times.........

so how would i go about reporting this to trading standards? just ring them up and say i believe this store should be displaying relevant SELs as a lot of the meat products have different prices per kg on them?

Although you are right, it's a waste of time :o

Spend your energy on finding more mis-prices.

I concur 100%. By the time you've gone down the TS route (and probably got little satisfaction) you could have got loads of free stuff out of Mr T.
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!
  • I was asked to post this in the Tesco misprice forum:

Tesco has just introduced a new scheme where if you bring your own shopping bags, you receive an extra Club Card point per bag. We always bring our own bags, and since the scheme was introduced we did our shop last week, using 4 of our own bags, and got 4 extra points! Every bit helps . . .

Ask in store if you are not offered the points for using your own bags - they should honour this.

With reference to my post#256. I did go back into the store today and I DID get the mispriced chicken breasts at the price I knew would be wrong. The yellow special offer SEL had been removed and the same priced white one left but ALL the packets were at the higher price - £8.12kg. So I picked 2 packets up for good luck and half leg of lamb, steak mince and bananas. At CS the Meat Manager was called, no Meat Manager, So Duty Manager called, he appeared said give full RnR then went back to his coffee or whatever he was doing because he certainly did not go in the direction of the Meat Dept or did he even look concerned. So I got my revenge today and it feels good but I do not like having to do this. But with the apathy shown by the Duty Manager at my store who can say it is the customers fault. Oh hum!

Sorry can I also add the the Manager from the Fruit/Veg dept said that the bananas come in with the SEL/prices already on the trays and yes they are 85p kg. So keep your eyes peeled for the 64p kg SEL on the trays.

Am chuffed to bits - just got a DIY book on R&R (christmas pressie for brother sorted) and ECOver washing powder (Try me free one) also R&R'd.:j :j

Right result - do feel like a right criminal though!

So having had a full R&R on the washing powder - do I take it people are not going to send in the Try me free offer too - or am I just too naive?

Don't forget to open the pack carefully - the TMF boxes have got a 75p off coupon inside in a little plastic wallet and its got a long expiry date too ! So you can get Mr T to pay you for his stuff if you use the coupons in there as well.
