Buy the items, dont inform staff before you buy them
take the item to customer services and tell them you have been over charged, I am sure the assistant that is manning the self scan tills is also the person that does the price reductions in the clothing department. I know if you ask in one of our local stores where somthing is and your not in that department they point you in the drection and leave you to it so reducing another department I doubt would happen.
On the other hand if you were told a price at the point of sale (the shelf/rail) and when you paid for the item it scanned at a higher price then you are entitled to R+R, the reason for the policy is to put people off contacting trading standards over mispricing their stuff. The fact that someone made a mistake doesnt matter you bought the item based on the information you were given at the shelf/rail and that info was wrong your not supposed to know that *Pat from chckouts was having a bad day and made a mistake, if she removed them all why was 1 still left out? ohh yeah another mistake I wonder how many other mistakes *Pat makes if we have found 2 of them in the space of 30 seconds?
*(Pat is an unknown person, should you know a Pat working on checkouts at Tesco then this isnt anything to do with her)
Agreed, if you think about it ALL R&R's are as a result of a mistake made by Tesco staff....I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0 -

How many have you gone for and which ones?
I have had a few problems and I always check who is on CS when I go in the store, maybe you need try a different CS person or different store.
Also try to act unknowing and suprised, going up "I have been over charged for this and want the item free on r+r" wont get you anywhere I dont know if the policy is known as R+R within Tesco?
Try
"Hiya, I think I have been charged more than I should have for this, I am sure the shelf said £xx.xx and the recipt says £xx.xx" let them go and check, go with them if you want. when they return and offer you the difference mention the sign usually behind them and say something along the lines of "shouldnt I receive a full refund and keep the item like is says on there" It has works 90% of the time for me the other times I have been beaten were on a dvd recorder and the Xbox games all under £30 where I just got a refund.
Another thing try diferent types of misprice stickered items they cant get away with meats you need to sound confident tellthem the prices you expected to pay work it out, SEL price times the weight on the product, this makes the less intelegent of CS staff understand what your problem is.0 -

It also depends on the store manager. In my local store they have to call a manager each time for R&R's. Most times I have got my R&R's but twice I have been refused when the manager blatantly said he knew about the policy but he wasn't offering that option. Once I took the goods and took it up with CS and they said it was up to the store manager? and the second time I told him to refund the lot, took it up with CS and they said they couldn't do anything because I had accepted a refund and no longer had the goods!
Yesterday I got a refund after waiting for the manager to give the Ok. I then had to wait for authorization again when the assistant realised I had 2 of the same products!
When the manager came( different one this time) he said he would R&R this time but in future would only give the difference because ..............."we have problems with people taking meat off the shelves"?
"Oh dear, say's I and here I was thinking I was in a supermarket where you have to take food off the shelves, in order to buy ".
R&R was on Finest pork medalions £9.99 SEL £8.99 and Finest Corn fed Chicken £3.99 SEL £3.29 ??Look after the pennies and the £££s will look after themselves0 -

Anyway feel I am out of pocket as it's really expensive as far as I'm concerned. She has crossed the washing powder off the receipt and put 'R' next to it & 3.78 at the bottom of the receipt. I am thinking of writing 60p next to the 'R' as that's what I got.
Perhaps you could do the same as Ecover are not to know you got all the money back you only got the difference. After all we don't know about the R&R so we accepted the diff'.
There must be a way of changing the receipt to make it look like a normal purchase.[/QUOTE]
Sorry, kronen, bold italics in your post are my edits - a tongue-in-cheek contribution by you, I trust. What you suggest is simply dishonest-I cannot see it any other way.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

ampersand, point taken. Asda are suppose to give you £2.00 for overcharges not £1.00. So it does make me a bit mad, however I am not going to change the amount, I was just letting off steam yesterday. I did only get the difference back so will be doing what post 337 has suggested.
Also got to add the try me free is based on that you tell them you did not like the product, wonder how many people like it but still write and say they didn't just to get their money back!!!0 -
Nothing wrong with Ecover's ability as a washing powder. What I would take issue with is its price. £4.39 for 12 washes (whether it's 'green' or not) is pretty scandalous IMHO. But if Tesco insist on giving it away, then far be it from me to not use it...:beer:I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

£4.39 for 12 washes!!! I haven't looked at these yet but I presumed at that price you where all talking about the huge boxes!! What a rip off...
...off to Tesco after work..:o0 -
I bought Pac Pix DS today and had some real jobsworth serving me at the electricals. Box was stickered 19.94 and I was charged 19.99 so they couldn't argue and didn't need the SEL. Long queue and when I eventually got there I explained that I had been overcharged. He fiddled round with the till for ages then finally rung in 5p refund. I politely pointed out the policy, in large poster on the wall. He then made a big play of reading the whole poster. Then he tried to fob me off by saying that it wasn't applicable because this was Tesco entertainment and thus different.... I raised my eyebrows and waited, so he said he would have to fetch the manager. When the manager eventually arrived the jobsworth explained that he had offered the 5p refund and then...... as if I had tried to detonate a bomb, or proposition him (yuk).
Manager gave me the refund with very bad grace and no eye contact. Pathetic really...0 -

An overcharge is an overcharge. For all the £20s they will have had to give back on this game, there will probably be hundreds of 5p overcharges that won't get reported so maybe Tesco will breek even on this one. Like I said last night, a scowl and £20 is preferred to 5p and a smile anytime...:rotfl:
